We hear politicians and celebrities going on about how ''its time for Australia to grow up" remove the ties to Britain. Australia isn't under the protection or jurisdiction of Britain anymore. Really, Australia owes its protection to the first British dominion to go republican, the United States. So go ahead, turn republic. Be more like your new masters, the Americans. See how tearing up the constitution and traditions that have made Australia what it is today will make you more "grown up."
@venuecam But it will never happen until the govt remove our communication systems aka internet. They couldn't possibly run interference while we are all connected.
he's right there not just personal attacks look at the american presidency republicanism is good if you have genuine people but thats no usually the case look at the bush administration
it is interesting what he says about Prince Charles. Ultimately, the monarch is the supreme head of the Church of England. Here in the UK, there's a mass problem with muslims, and i'm sure he doesn't particularly like that. Ultimately, we, like Australia, is a Christian country which respects other faiths providing they respect them (christianity).
@noogie123 i was not suggesting that you have a state religion as such, but Australia is a Chriian country, so to speak. you work this out by how state things are done, i.e. i swear by almighty God etc (though i know this can be opted out of by individuals if they wish), but also the popularity of a religion n a country. 82% of australians are 'christian', so it is a christian coutry. by my comment, i was not saying that is a christian state, with no other mindset, i stated a fact on the stats
Will a debate like this ever happen on main stream tv? Nope. Have we, the people stopped watching tv? Yes.

@TomBarry192I The only stink comes from the republican council estates, the estates of the great unwashed and effluvia of irish nationalists.
