It's all about muscle memory you could be using a ball of dog shit and a 6ft dildo as long as your doing it right and moving out of your comfort zone you will improve
great video. it really helped me. jack johnson of the LA kings did a before the bigs show and talked about using golfballs to work up his stick handling skills
5/5! Sorry to hear about your shoulder injury. I had to stop playing because of one as wekk; I had Cornell looking at me too at the time. You should think about making a video with some more difficult drills for an elite level...
dude when you watch the ball or w/e it is your using to work on your hands with it doesn't help you at all, it just turns into a big yard sale once you hit the ice and try the move's
i usally use a hard street hockey ball and an un tapped stick on carpet. think il see results? i dont personaly but i never really went though all these. i usally just mindlessly stick handle
If you're taking the time to stickhandle, that is what matters most. You'll see results.
If you want to be an elite athlete and really get elite results, then you need to also train smart. To attempt to replicate game-like motions and scenarios as much as is possible
A heavier ball or stick will slow down stickhandling speed. When training to increase speed, a lot of guys use golf balls. They move really quick and pick up speed as you go, so you have to move your hands quickly to keep up.
not exactly tho, cuz then if ur building up resistance, then u change to a lighter ball. Then your hands would move faster, and you'd be stronger, cuz the forearms would be stronger, and therefore it'll help you move quicker wouldn't it?
I see the argument, but I'm not sure if it's correct. There probably is some correlation between using a heavy ball and speed. But in general, I've always been taught that you use a small and quick ball that will cause you to go faster than you want. Then your muscles become accustomed to really fast movements.
