Wow. 5 routines, one good, one wobblish, 3 falls, 3 out of bounce. Goodness. Yea, this might be the worst us national championship in a LONG time! But they still managed to win at Worlds even with the injury to Alicia :O
i gotta say, as hard as beam is, lots of elites who you'd think would be more solid are really shaky these days, kudos for trying but wouldnt easier skills done better be worth more than hard moves done sloppily with heaps of balance checks?
the first time i saw mckayla's floor routine (specifically the first pass i'm talking about), i thought, why is she opening with a 2.5 connected to nothing? then i read it was actually a 3.5, which shows how incredible she is at twisting, and making it look SO easy. she's amazing, and i love her floor!!!
@cgwjhendriks They are required to go up there and 'scratch' she is only competing three events here so she goes up there and just sort of says 'present' and then goes on. You'll see Alicia Sacramone do the same thing, on Uneven Bars. Goes up touches them salutes the judges leaves. It's lame but they are required to do it.
Shame she fell in her FX, Sacramone that is cos THAT FX is soooo good! I thought her Gotan Project was really cool cos it suited her style and wasn't really dancy dancy but now, as a more mature gymnast she can really pull off the dancing moves and the pauses before big jump combos and pirouettes are shorted which makes it more (for me as a dancer/aerial performer) interesting to watch instead of trick, trick, faff faff, trick trick that sadly happens often in FX nowadays. Keep fighting Alicia!
And Tim.... again, Gabrielle will be 16 this December (31st)... and you can compete in this World championship if you are turning 15 before December 31st (So you must be born before December 31st, 1996)
