  • @dcunblue, if you knew anything about music you would know that this is a Van Zandt band. And the only thing that sucks on here is you..

  • Lynard Skynard, 38 special ed and even Molly hatchet suck wall nuts...The racist pigs suckk...

  • These are van zandt wanna bes....

  • brings back good memorys :)

  • What the hell did the Van Zant's feed their kids?

  • @aspectra hahaha,no kiddin

  • i should of been a groupy.. travel everywhere, meet all different kinds of cultures, people, life...

and when am done... i find somewhere special and settle there. for like a minute, lol.

  • Without a paddle brought me here

  • watching without a paddle and reminded me of this song

  • Ronnie van zant's little brother right? Now he does Skynyrd?

  • @indystarwarsfan585 I think your right, looks just like him. Saw a skynyrd video and he was in it

  • @indystarwarsfan585

The lead singer for .38 Special is actually Donnie Van Zant the younger brother of lead singer Ronnie Van Zant for Lynyrd Skynyrd. The youngest of the three brothers Jonny Van Zant is now the lead singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd.

  • @MultiCatm The two that couldn't make it on the plane that terrible day

  • @indystarwarsfan585 Nope, this is Donnie Van Zant. His much less talented brother Johnny took over the reigns of Skynyrd.

  • @aspectra Ah thank you! He looks JUST like Ronnie in this one man. He's even wearing the same clothes. I mean Johnny's good and all but kinda outa place for Skynyrd and you're right... Donnie is MUCH better!

  • # Without A Paddle ...

  • The guy with the hat and long hair looks like a member from Lnyerd Sknyerd? is this possible?

  • LOVE IT , LOVE IT !!!!! WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN THEM L I V E BACK IN THE DAY !!

  • Outstanding guitar rifs in this song. Love it!!

  • @edrums99 also, do you play instruments, or just like music? I didn't see anything on your channel of you playing. You may correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @TravisMackie12ft4 Does it have to be on his channel ?

  • this song makes me sad, cuz it just shows me how i messed up, i clung too tightly and lost the girl i truly love

  • Hey, did the lead singer in this song used to be in Atlanta Rythm Section ? Kinda sound like it.

  • This song would definitely be on my playlist in any post-apocalyptic scenario

  • Without a Paddle?

  • Todays music sucks and soo unoriginal thats why they are remaking songs from the 80's . 80's now and forever!!

  • i like this video and this song. it brings back alot of good memories.

  • And of course they couldn't replicate the studio recordings with all their over dubs anyway.

  • whenever i ever i hear this i think of without a paddle

  • 1981 was a great fucking year for music

  • @retselom649 van zandt isnt plugged in.....

  • Comment removed

  • Hell yeah!! In sink... :)

  • Ride & Rock !!!

  • >>>comment/ thats why ya gotta beat her with your penis. :D?}]

  • @TMaw345 do you happen to be Bobby Russell III?

  • i think its pretty cool that my reletives that live in florida used to hangout with lynyrd skynyrd and 38 special :D

  • this guy's vocals are fucking perfect.

  • Joe Dirt

  • Never get tired of this band, after all these years! They make me wanna......drink?...hmmm

  • They are the best southern rock band!!!!

  • Joe Dirt !

  • Just so people understand, one drummer is a lead drummer (does fills and extra things), and one is a rythem drummer (doesn't do fills). This is like having two guitarists.

  • @TravisMackie12ft4 There is no such thing as a lead drummer!! Just take a look a the allman bro's they have three and none of the 3 are a lead or rhythm drummer. Santana also has a a great percusion section ( did I spell that right) And no lead drummer. You don't play music do you?

  • @edrums99 Actually, I am a multi-Instrumentalist and vocalist, including PERCUSSION. If you had checked my channel, you would have known that. Like I said, lead drummer does fills, like a lead guitarist does the extra bits and solos. Rhythem drums and guitar keeps the regular rhythem, and beat. It also gives a fuller sound.

  • Love this song. Going to go see ya'll at the Joint next month.

  • uploaded in christmas eve this song had to be named christmas

  • They needed two because if one got so drunk and lost time the other should be hanging in there...

  • YOU GUY'S ARE STILL NUMBER ONE IN MY BOOK...NEED TO SEE SOME MORE..

  • yay Ron vs Mitt, go Paul!

    And... awesome song.

  • .38 special.

  • love what you have good or bad forgive;

  • anyone know why they think they need 2 drummers?

  • @TheZappawizard playing the same thing no less, still trying to figure this out....

  • @TheZappawizard *sarcasm* Because their drumming's so complicated that it requires two to do it. :)

  • Comment removed

  • How do you get rid of this VEVO SHIT!?

  • @neovintageretro Tried Adblocker? I have it installed and I dont get pestered. Its the only reason I can think of anyway!

  • Young black and love this song clueless why LOL

  • @mackoneboy Its all good music man, good taste in music.

  • would you rather pay to watch you tube,or can you stomach a few commercials, nothing is for free buddy

  • Damn the Van Zant boys so much alike.

  • they're playing our live and still guarantees

  • Many thanks for the high-quality version!

  • By far one of the coolest rock songs of all time.. This is def in the top ten of all time

  • Most of today's "music" would not survive on a cassette. It needs to be on video. It is disposable and the best thing about it is the DVD...

  • Violent Right Wing Racist Stuff.... You Need to get some medication dude.

YOU ARE TRIPPIN Pompous Dickweed is what you Are! People are here for the music. Go blog to someone on Slate who wants to debate stupid shit like racist theme songs...

  • Jeff Carlisi is awesome , great guitarist !!!!

  • EU ME AMARREI NESSE CLIPE !!! E MUITO SHOW VCS ESTÃO DE PARABENS!!!

  • It's almost scary how Donnie Van Zant looked like his brother Ronnie.

  • @barrybear2011

    agreed .

  • Violent, dangerous right-wing racists who parrot "anti-racist is code for anti-white" sing this as their theme song.

  • Over played blue collar bar song.

  • @Kdog54902 and who the fuck do you think you are?

  • So this is where Dennis De Young went after STYX..

  • wouldent you love to see the congress rocking to this song!

  • Lets get our ROCK n ROLL heritage back to where it belongs!

  • This one defined 1981 for me. Saw them that summer. VanZandt seemed to be the "director" I think because he is VanZandt, but was mediocre compared to the other guitars. Great band. But, never understood Two drummers. I do miss those days...

  • Without a paddle! :D:D:D

  • Joe Dirt !

  • @KB8SD whoa easy...gonna lose the atom bomb

  • REAL ROCK N ROLL

  • 22 people have lost their mind!!

  • I like .38 Special, but having 2 drummers is just stupid and pathetic, especially when they still only produce basic drumming. Bonham by himself did more than these two do together.

  • @AtticusSD if there so bad why dont we see u up there playin

  • this song is about masterbaition lolz

  • @TheCodedaddy rofl

  • hmmm....

  • I used to like commercials then i took an arrow to the ear...

  • @JonHembree31771 go fucking die you worthless try hard son of a bitch.

  • This was not the video they played on MTV, that's for sure. Good version, though!

  • @Dicko0824 this actualy was the version mtv played in 81!!!

  • 20 people cant go expert in this song on guitar hero rocks the 80s.

  • not only that, but we had Dan the Man Marano fucking sadly pass, ...imagine us as the band who could remake this song and it meant everything to us and the music teacher.. she made the promise, she was there, in the First Woodstock.. but we couldn't make it.. we were so close dudes

  • We had an emo guitarist for the sub, we were small, there's hotel california we did it, but the singers could've done their thing if they were given space and also the musicians... yet we were suffered into hotel california... dude steeves couldve done everything, bob on vocs and gabe killin it.. oh shit what an awesome performance if i backed with the keys... even Suzie did it with me twice.. but what the heck? now we can;t even be as cool

  • today as in these "random pop culture oh shit who could'ves"

  • Great band.. awesome performance.. sweet memories..

  • anyone else mad about vevo's music videos being labeled "official"...:(

  • i love rock..and pretty women that rock...love l.a....and cajun women...roswell...and watching the nite skys...be a romantic...we are romeo and juliet in the nite of rock!

  • Fuck that nigga in the commercial your what make's america look bad

  • Hell yea, This song reminds me of Joe Dirt.

  • awesome band loved them for years but can anybody tell me the point of 2 drummers?

  • I love this one...

  • FUCK YOU COMMERCIALS I HATE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrBanthafodder They sure are a royal pain in the a@# if you can't skip them after 15 seconds!

  • One of the best bands of the 80's.

  • Teabaggers of years gone bye.

  • Such a good song.

  • im super confused, why does this have less than a million views?

  • still sounds just as good listening to it today as it did years ago!....... a very underrated band in my opinion

  • A lot of truth in this song........funny, but it sounds even better to me now, than when I heard it for the 1st tme at 16!!!!

  • @01mevans Same here, thought I had every juvenile feeling rationalized. Wrote so much of this song into breaking up with my first girlfriend. OMG I was a total dweeb!

  • WOW! And this is a live version?? Its nearly identical to the studio track! Awesome Band!

  • The singer looks like he's from one of those Norwegian metal bands.

  • @MacDragard He sure was something and still is, AWESOME!!!!!

  • *saw

  • Without a Paddle xD

  • so true...

  • one of the best southern rock songs ever!

  • WOW Two Too many Dummers and 2 too many guitars ! but They did a good job !

  • What I love most about older rock is that it sounds just as good live. Often times in modern rock, you hear a poor version at live shows. The studio version has been autotuned so that it sounds perfect. That translates into bad live shows. Back when this kind of music was out, there was no autotune. They had to have perfect recording sessions. This way, they performed the same way in concerts. The products are both high quality.

  • @JoseTabata31 Yep....I agree. Many sound and look as if they are recorded on someones Iphone.

  • @JoseTabata31 You're right. I saw these guys twice in the mid to late 80's and they sounded even better than my cassette tapes of them that I played into oblivion.

  • @JoseTabata31 Just say styx in concert. AMAZING!! Agreed

  • @JoseTabata31 I knew a guy David Steeves.. and he was the master.. with the same guitar, god not to mention Bob Arbogast... ohh we had style with Gabe's bass guitar...fuck man, we only needed a good vocalist, someone who wasn't afraid to "bust out" and we would've had a senior video to contend with virally.. not that viral matters, but man we had a great set of minds and sound back then.. what we're doing today doesn't mean shit to what it meant to me as the piano player in music class of 2006

  • @JoseTabata31 totally seen a ton live and they sound just like my old records...lol

  • @JoseTabata31 Aerosmith sounded better in person than on record.

  • @JoseTabata31 Good point. Never thought of it that way

  • @JoseTabata31 Ya, the main reason they went to auto-tune is most likely too save money on studio time. If it only takes 4 takes for a song its going to be a hell of alot cheaper. Money has ruined music, as it has many things.....

  • @JoseTabata31 A lot of bands from this period refused to play the songs "exactly" the way they were recorded on the albums. It was a sign of technical proficiency on your instrument and the tightness and cohesiveness of a band that allowed for ad libbing and improvisation. The bands that were really and truly great were able to provide concert go-ers with an experience that the general record buying people couldnt get without attending a live show. Zep and The Who are prime examples

  • @insaneone5150 Don't forget the overlooked Frank Zappa and band.... they are the core of what improv was...

  • @insaneone5150 dude... grateful dead.

  • @insaneone5150 I tend to agree with Josetabiata31. Most people pay money for a certain product and they expect that product to be what they expect it to be. We the paying public hate when the singer HOLDS THE MIC to the audience and have them sing the lyrics. We don't want Jimmy Page to play a lame ass riff that sounds nothing like the into to Whole Lotta Love. When you pay for a Muscle Car of the 60s and 70s or a Harley you expect it to sound a certain way. Otherwise , its JAZZ!

  • @insaneone5150 you're absolutely right... oh yeah and Queen :)

  • @MagnumRoyalty oh yeah queen were great are ad libbing, it seemed they all knew what each other were thinking

  • Good ole southern rock...for those with great taste in music!

  • Politicaly speaking, this is a good philosophy.

    Too tight = Police State

    Too loosely = Anarchy

  • @WrightvWrong Politically speaking, there's no such thing as too loosely.. ;)

  • LOVE this band! If the name Van Zant is associated with a band, you KNOW it's gonna be a winner.

  • I just had to add this to the list....

  • seiously. why is 16 and pregnant, teen mom, toddlers and tierras and whole bunch of SHIT on MTV instead of this?

  • Man talk about a classic! I was dating (not the right word but PC) some cerebral chick and even she liked it.

  • @tommyrock69 yeh not really

  • awesome song! But, is this song about balls? "Hold on Loosely but don't let go?"

  • Psycho- Yeah....remember when MTV used to actually play music?? Those were the days. Too bad they're gone.

  • I'm not a huge southern rock guy but this is definitely in my Top Ten songs of all time. I LOVE this freakin' song . . . .

  • i don't think so hora, this song freakin rocks!

  • Can a song get more awesome than this?

  • Wait, I think it's Don Barnes.

  • Who is the singer on this song with the orange shirt? I thought it was Gary Rossington.

  • I love terry bam bam Gordy on drums.

  • Those Vansants boys are at it again SO Easy to mistake Donny for Ronny, would have been great to see RONNY AND DONNY jamming Together.. GREATEST SOUTHERN ROCK.. so sad that 16 PPL ARE HEARING IMPAIRED.

  • why do they have 2 drummers? Ive heard them all my life and probably saw the vids of this as a kid but as a bass player today..i look and listen to this and wonder why did they need 2 drummers?

  • @sprintbass i guess one just wouldnt leave, awkward.

  • don barnes... thot it was paul rodgers. learn sump'n new everyday.

  • These guys once invited my ex-GF and her sister to take a "Tour of their tour bus". They thought it was a kind gesture. If only they had taken them up on the offer, .38 Special could have really learned the meaning of "loosely".

  • 16 people clung too tightly and lost control.

  • Great song performed by a great band! I saw them play in Lubbock, TX March 28, 1984. Opening act: Golden Earring. How do I remember the date? I still have the ticket stub. I was 17 at the time. Thanks for posting.

  • born in wrong era too

  • I remember listening to this in my teens, when my dad questioned if this was 'music'. I'm 48 now, and to me, this IS some of the best music you'll listen to - at least its understandable!!!

  • Southern Rock is Awesome!!!!!!!!

  • i have loved 38 special since i was a teen girl,,,and im 43 now
