This is my favorite song from Spencer Seim's "Chirpin' Hard". Zach Hill's split album "Church Gone Wild" is good, too but way too crazy for its own good and nowhere near as memorable as "Chirpin' Hard", except for "Earth's 1st Night Jimi Hendrix-less and Pissed". That song gives me the creeps in a good way.
@ArchDukeFrancis1914 i like church gone wild more, but i agree listening to earth's first evening is like seeing his dead body right there in front of you
Im gonna go out on a limb here, but my theory is that people with down syndrome are actually spies sent here by a race of super-intelligent aliens who live in crystals who look like people with down syndrome....its a conspiracy I tell you!!
Hey........Just Got Into Hella.............Amazing band................can anyone tell me where i can download some hella concerts n videos??????just finished listening to their entire disco.........pretty solid and aggressive.........
mreddieg, you're wrong. If you OWNED the cd you would know that Zach Hill did ALL the music for "Church Gone Wild" and SPENCER did ALL the music for "Chirpin Hard".......how bout doin some research before acting like a douchebag.
hellasweet4twizzle - dumb people won't die, they spread faster than others as they don't think/care of their kids future. Anyway - heil Hella and have fun while you can.
I feel sorry for the people out there who think that weed or lsd has no effect. You are clearly wrong. When you "trip balls" you can come up with much more "out there" and "trippy" things than this easily. Weed does not create the thoughts for you, it simply opens the doors letting your mind venture that far into thought. You are clearly wrong, sir.
Yeah sure you could come up with much more out there and trippy things but it's getting those ideas down when you're in that state that's the tricky part, at least when you out of it on LSD. Weed clearly helps people get into the zone with writing music but I'm not too sure that weed would help anyone conjure up these kind of rhythms and timings.
i have a friend who lives in an arthouse and has done work for UK and some US bands. He doesnt do weed at all, just gets drunk and plays halo every night and yet comes out with some of the coolest, trippiest shit ever. sure LSD is an experience and yada yada yada, but the creative mind can conjure up any LSD image and more without any influence whatsoever and can produce work far quicker. 99.9% of people who advocate the use of drugs in art either produce total shit or are not artists.
i wonder... will it be the same if you only hear the music without seeing the video!?? the music-video makes sense.. the solo-video can too make some sense.. but the music.. FUCK THE WORLD!! THIS HAS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH LSD!!
i really think the human mind has the capacity to conjure up any image or sound without the "help" of lsd... this was done by talented artists, someone on drugs could never ever be this productive.
oh yeah, you have a skewed vision of drugs man, they open up alot of things, it's true that creativity lies within yourself, but some recreational drugs help you access that creativity. it is hard to explain this to a person, when their mind is already set. Until you explore for yourself, or rather if, you'll probably come to the same conclusion. Drugs have ruined many lives but helped so many more in so many different ways. it is however very taboo and therefore hard to accept.
you are assuming that i havent used drugs recreationally. most of my peers in the music and artistic world agree that getting off weed was the best thing they did. and i'd agree too; as soon as i kicked my habit i found i was making better music and doing better at university while clean. if anything, we've all found caffiene far better, just because you get a massive drive.
actually im going on about this, am I supposed to be impressed that dredg made a loose concept around dali and made yet another irritating "LETS GET SOME CELLOS AND SHIT IN ITLL BE GREAT" kind of album EVERY metal band does at some point. Its like with Tool and all the rest of that yawnworthy crap, just make a song based around the fibbonaci sequence or something and let obsessives postulate all their "theories" on the net.
You're the only person in here postulating theories. If you think dredg are terrible, you should be proud of yourself. You've let your own arrogance and bias blind you. Have fun in your little personal fart bubble, dog.

dredg have never used the fibbonacci sequence. dredg do not sound like Tool.
Your arrogance is in your posts about how great your friend is (the alcoholic one) without anything to back you up. You assume that your taste is indicative of anything relavent, but it is only relavent to you.
Actually, not at all. If I let people like you bother me, I'd be a rather morbid individual. Sorry, you're not worth the health consequences.
Still waiting on the coolest, trippiest alcohohlic ever. I'm calling you out. Back up your claims. I mean, given his immense talent, I'm sure he's in several successful bands with spectacular videos on youtube.
So, alcohol is normal stuff? It doesn't impair your judgement?
I don't actually think your friend is an alcoholic. I was being sarcastic because you implied that anyone that does "drugs" - not to include the 2 most abused drugs in the country, of course - is a non-functioning addict.
As for his works, you'll have to forgive me if I'm unimpressed. Hipster, much?
fair enough, unlike you i dont really give a shit if someone doesnt like what im into. i've had to deal with that for 20 years. at least i gave a formulated opinion. as for the "hipster" tag, i have absolutely no idea what that means and neither does anyone i know. I assume you mean the general idea of twentysomethings living in the city who are interested in fashion, art and music, to which i point out thats been going on for over 50 years.
As for the hipster tag, that is generally applied to the self-absorbed, wannabe artists who think they are the most original being on earth. They still think cassette tapes and converse all-stars are cool. Yet in all of their attempts at originality, they fall into a very distinct group of extremely similar individuals, leaving them all extremely ambiguous.
Wannabe nothing, the guy pays for himself with the artwork he does. He's in demand, and I can't think of many people that work with collages.
if anything the general style of kraffhics is very similar to the style of this video, and even zach hill's own artwork. you're pretty much complaining about the same movement you enjoy.
and ive you've forgotten that 20something kids call the shots when it comes to new music since forever. you're out of touch.
But im digressing from my point here. Im only speaking anecdotally, definitely. But I can point out that its hard to ignore the connection ive found between which of my friends smoke weed and take mushrooms and their total inactivity despite coming up with some genuinely good ideas... while sober.
You know, I have a friend who drinks too much and turns into an asshole. That doesn't mean I think everyone who drinks is an asshole. Do you not get that it's your broad generalization that is the problem?
well certainly not, but if all my friends drink and some of my friends smoke weed but all of my friends who smoke weed dont seem to do anything with themselves, thats not a generalisation, thats an observation based on what i know.
But your small group of friends do not constitute a reasonable sampling, which makes it a generalization when you're talking about millions of people.
Then what are you doing? You're applying your interactions with a small group of people to a group of millions. Maybe you just can't handle that your entire argument is based on faulty logic.
Are there lazy stoners out there? You're damn right there are. I also know some fat asses that don't smoke, yet sit on their couch watching American Idol every week.
Again, whatever you need to feel good about yourself.
how is it based on faulty logic if i said myself i noticed a marked improvement in self-performance AFTER kicking my weed habit? its a known fact that marijuana affects your concentration and memory, and repeated use has seen people i used to know into people that believed i was actually reptilian at the worst of times. like i said, its anecdotal in itself but if pressured i can open a can of science on your ass.
You're quite correct. As a former heavy marijuana user myself, I find the commentary of the "weed don't hurt nuthin" crowd to be foolish and disturbing.
The space sound effects theyre using come from a shitty little keyboard from the early 90s called a concertmate-460, thats crazy cause i have one lol.
Just because the guy in the vid has downs syndrome doesn't mean he cant appear in a music video! He probably got paid like anyone else, so let him be!
have you seen their video for the things that people do when they think no one is looking? i think it definitley outdoes this one as far as creepiness goes.
Haha, yeah. What are they gunna switch with? They seem to be filled up with Jonas Brothers and Paris Hilton's songs, and PCD, and those other marketing piece of shit gimmicks. Besides, a song with no vocals on muchmusic? That doesn't happen either. They need to be able to sell to all those superficial kids with their good looks and catchy hooks. Anyways...yeah. Great song, stuff like this mught have had a chance on muchmusic in the 90's...but not anymore.
That is such a tripped video. I remember the first time my friend showed me this. I got completely zoned out by it. The squirls at 00:29! lol Music's genius.

I've seen this before and I used to think they were exploiting DS, but actually now I just think it's really quite beautiful.

Same here. The more I watch it the more it seems to be about childish innocence. Really cool.
