Little do ppl know that some apple lawsuits prohibits some features of the phone. Show me a phone (original) that has sweet UI transition when going horizontal, apart from the iPhone. Google around "Apple Lawsuits" and see how ridiculous it is.
Apple inhibits great ideas from spreading, as they want to have the monopoly of such features (rather than having a greater phone to beat the competition)
While I think apple's are great pieces of hardware, I would never have one because of such moves.

N97 is THAT bad. Symbian's shitty UI framework (AVKON) doesn't allow smooth animations, effects, etc., unless they've been reinvented and reimplemented by each application developer every single time. Nokia's browser suffers from lockups, where you can't do anything with the web page being loaded. Screen rotation may stop working at all, screen lock may lock the phone until you remove the battery and reboot it. Even making phone call is buggy - the phone locks itself and you can't stop call.
Nice job at making the phone look worse than it is. It is a bad phone but not THAT bad. First of all, you didn't turn it all the way to horizontal, that's why the screen didn't shift right away. You constantly pressed the screen too lightly, it's resistive screen so you have to actually press it, not just wipe over it. Also, you did all the sweeping too fast and pressed too lightly again, that's why browser sucked so much. You fail as much as N97 does. Lame propaganda.

I own an n97 myself and it's the worst phone overall. I will probably never buy a Nokia again, I'm leaning towards HTC and Samsung products. My N97's charger port is broken (it doesn't charge anymore, I bought an external charger for the battery to charge the battery separately), the camera is washed out cuz the side of the lens is scratched from the cover, freezes after couple days of just being turned on, plus many more problems I didn't expect from a $600 flagship phone
Realy bad phone. Plus I didnt buy it in my country and operators marked my phone as shadow market device. Now I can call with it and send sms max, all other functions are simply blocked, cannot even update or instal new apps. the way you are using resistive touch screen is wrorng . N97 have stylus within its box you can use more efficiantly resistive touch screen then a capasitive touch screen with stylus. Iphone can not work with stylus because its a capasitive touch screen you must use your finger the like a mouse pad of laptop and its a draw back of iphone because in some application u must have to use stylus where precise touch needed.
Dude you have to PRESS the screen not wave in front of it. And if you are switching to landscape mode you have to turn the phone straight in front 'cuz any handset would not respond if you do this like that. I have a n97, a really destroyed one and it works better than I expected. Ok but the video that nokia released is false indeed, the animations don't exist, but it isn't as bad as you tried to present. It's... comfy.

My POS Nokia N97 mini died with 7 months of use. It reboots everytime, touch screen and qwerty keyboard don't work sometimes...... the worst phone i ever had.
also you need to turn it correctly. for everyone to pay attention to the first transition is not right, it wont tilt unless you turn it correctly on its side. it won't work if its flat!! also overall no phones are as quick as in the advert. take the iphone, read the god damn fine print, transitions not as shown. all phones do it. now just because you get the one n97 which is faulty there is no need to spread hate about it, it is better than my previous phone (iphone 2g 8gb) and i love it. seriously you need to understand how it works. they purposely built a transreflective screen which means that unlike the iphone you can actually see it outdoors. also the screen is resistive. the reason for this is that a. cheaper to replace b. rugged c. you dont make calls accidently, which my old iphone used to do all the time. also the apps need to be clicked twice just in the circumstance that you accidently touch the wrong one, much like a windows pc, double click to start programs.........

I think there are some points in the videos that are true, like slowly apps. But in others cases, it could be your phone. My N97 don't work that fast, but it's faster than in your video. In some parts of the video, like when your turn the phone horizontally, you don't turn it in the right way. probably for the video looks more attractive.

I am having similar experiences here. For those who are saying that the video maker is using the phone's resistive touch screen wrong, so tell me how much pressure do you need to apply on the screen before the phone gives a response? I can sometimes hear the screen creak and it still does nothing, or takes a staggering 3 seconds to even start changing into the theme background halfway and very slowly opening the app you wanted.

I own an n97 myself and it's the worst phone overall. I will probably never buy a Nokia again, I'm leaning towards HTC and Samsung products. My N97's charger port is broken (it doesn't charge anymore, I bought an external charger for the battery to charge the battery separately), the camera is washed out cuz the side of the lens is scratched from the cover, freezes after couple days of just being turned on, plus many more problems I didn't expect from a $600 flagship phone

Realy bad phone. Plus I didnt buy it in my country and operators marked my phone as shadow market device. Now I can call with it and send sms max, all other functions are simply blocked, cannot even update or instal new apps. Soon Ill go for new device, back to iPhone I hope and it will be realy fun to smash my old N97(this piece of f....ing s..t) to pieces.

my honest opinion stay away from ALL symbian phones, i wanted a n97 soo bad but now i got one it was a complete waste of money, 32gb internal memory- the phone cant even handle a fraction of that without laggin like hell, my phone is soo delayed i cant do anything on it, my speakers stopped working, i get general errors, trust me Nokia has fallen, and fallen HARD, these phones are all looks and they cant even handle their own capabilities. if i could i would of stuck with sony ericsson

the way you are using resistive touch screen is wrorng . N97 have stylus within its box you can use more efficiantly resistive touch screen then a capasitive touch screen with stylus. Iphone can not work with stylus because its a capasitive touch screen you must use your finger the like a mouse pad of laptop and its a draw back of iphone because in some application u must have to use stylus where precise touch needed.

Dude you have to PRESS the screen not wave in front of it. And if you are switching to landscape mode you have to turn the phone straight in front 'cuz any handset would not respond if you do this like that. I have a n97, a really destroyed one and it works better than I expected. Ok but the video that nokia released is false indeed, the animations don't exist, but it isn't as bad as you tried to present. It's... comfy.

My POS Nokia N97 mini died with 7 months of use. It reboots everytime, touch screen and qwerty keyboard don't work sometimes...... the worst phone i ever had.

also you need to turn it correctly. for everyone to pay attention to the first transition is not right, it wont tilt unless you turn it correctly on its side. it won't work if its flat!! also overall no phones are as quick as in the advert. take the iphone, read the god damn fine print, transitions not as shown. all phones do it. now just because you get the one n97 which is faulty there is no need to spread hate about it, it is better than my previous phone (iphone 2g 8gb) and i love it. F YOU!

seriously you need to understand how it works. they purposely built a transreflective screen which means that unlike the iphone you can actually see it outdoors. also the screen is resistive. the reason for this is that a. cheaper to replace b. rugged c. you dont make calls accidently, which my old iphone used to do all the time. also the apps need to be clicked twice just in the circumstance that you accidently touch the wrong one, much like a windows pc, double click to start programs.........

I think there are some points in the videos that are true, like slowly apps. But in others cases, it could be your phone. My N97 don't work that fast, but it's faster than in your video. In some parts of the video, like when your turn the phone horizontally, you don't turn it in the right way. probably for the video looks more attractive.

I am having similar experiences here. For those who are saying that the video maker is using the phone's resistive touch screen wrong, so tell me how much pressure do you need to apply on the screen before the phone gives a response? I can sometimes hear the screen creak and it still does nothing, or takes a staggering 3 seconds to even start changing into the theme background halfway and very slowly opening the app you wanted.
