Chopin must have been in love with someone when he wrote this. The music is passionate, almost violent sometimes but sad, like a love that was forbidden and he would never have. So he put it into his music.
This is quite beautiful. The finest interpretation for me is by Ashkenazy... (Askenazy's) version is what I think it sounds like when you are carried up to Heaven by Angels.
@ruxi46 You can't get bored of this. It's really a masterpiece. You should try and study the harmony he uses. He has some exciting scale transitions and harmonies going on. I feel like I've learned a lot from this single piece.
I'm just an old lady of 72 years. So I guess I don't know much. Most young people are so smart and so worldly. How they got this way is truly a miracle, considering the fact that they haven't been around all that long. I have been listening to Rubinstein for over 60 years and 60+ years, listening to Chopin. If there is more beautiful and wonderous music out there, I haven't heard it. It is truly heaven-sent.

彼の解釈が最もショパンの心に沿ったものであろう。闇に解けていくような演奏である。フジコ ヘミングも良い!

I always thought Richter's was the best version but the old master Rubinstein does not allow one to award that title. Both are perfect. A draw.
