Avesta's video is shortened (if you watch it the video will cut into different segments) in length but it actually took her a long time as well. Well over an hour for sure
Before our duo, we would practice lowman Seiryu with just 4 friends. We found out that nukes weren't as efficient as we wanted them to be. Although Seiryu is wind based & Ice has an advantage, 85% of my nukes would resist & only do about 20-80 damage then waste MP, so we decided to save MP & DoT kite it then do a few nukes when we had the extra MP. It would be an excellent idea though other than the resist part =3
Even when fighting him normally he's nowhere near that resistant to elemental magic, do you have a nuke setup with + elemental magic skill?
Not saying that there's anything wrong with your method since it obviously worked, but you shouldn't have been getting resisted that often unless something was terribly wrong.
Keeping in mind that RDM only has a C+ Elemental Magic skill (& the fact that I'm Elvaan with low INT =P), I get up to 267 skill (+37 from equipment), INT60+41 (using Melon Pie+1 for food), HQ Ice staff of course, 10 Magic Accuracy (+4 from ring instead of 2 INT rings), & 11 Magic Attack Bonus.
Good Job! I used to play FFXI and quit a while ago, but remember you on the Ifrit server, Showmo. I have 1 question tho...do you not have Utsusemi: Ni?? lol
I do =P I save Utsusemi: Ni for emergencies. Ni is near instant cast, while Ichi you have to wait for the cast. If Seiryu is right on me & I need shadows right away but the Ni timer is down I'm in a lot of trouble. So I use Ichi & save Ni for when I need it.

I really think you guys could have put a lot more damage on him via nukes at several parts and sped the fight up.
But better to play it safe and go for the slow kill rather than to lose.
