i love african chiclids but when i had them i lost a fish on average every week and it annoyed me so now ive got a mixed tropical tank but i did keep one chiclid and gave it to my dad to put in his cold water tank and its doing brilliant lol amazing tank by the way.
Don't use for marine though. Bag may say not for aquarium use - you can safely ignore that. Just rinse it really well and use a fine particle filter remover for a day or so afterward to clear cloudiness. about $6.00 for 40 lbs - cant beat it.
Nice aquarium! I have baby leleupi, waiting for them to get bigger - they are cool looking fish. Your frontosa are cool too, as are the rest. Keep 'em growin!
voted by who??! it isnt even authentic!!! how could this be the best!? very cool though dont get me wrong. But youve mixed tangs and malawi cichlids...
Can I ask a dumb but yet important question? Of all the vids I've watched on African Cichlids (and that's allot), How in the world did this one get voted THE BEST? It's extremely well done but not the best on YouTube, who voted? Nice setup by the way....very clean. Thanks for sharing.
I've seen plenty of fish swimming around plants and logs on lake tanganyika/malawi nature programs. Just because the plants or logs aren't from Africa doesn't mean you can't use them to look more natural. It's not like most fish are wild caught. And your water isn't from the lake. OH snap it's not natural unless you have actual water from the lake. lol
Thats right i mixed different species from different lake it was the beginning and it was empty so i mixed. Now i upgraded to a 600liters only Tanganyika species and i'll put it on Youtube soon. Hope you will check it out.
About the wood is not enough to make a difference.
Yeah I have really seen some well done aquariums with an all natural habitat and fish of the the same lake in the tank with the 3D backgrounds and high end lighter and all over superiority.
"And the wood is for fishes from south america and not for fishes from Malawi and tanganyika"
Not true. For one, Acei's are from Malawi and thrive by eating algae off of wood in the wild. There are more, but I was just naming one. As long as your pH is between those magical numbers (7.8 - 8.4) you'll be perfectly fine. If the log presents a significant drop in pH, decorate with a little limestone, as this will offset it. Crushed coral, as substrate or elsewhere, works good too for a buffer.
Very nice.. AND that is not enough wood to make a difference.. It takes a lot to change the hardness drasticly enough to bother the cichlids.. It looks very nicely placed too.
How big is you tank because i have 2 african chiclids and a jack dempsey in a 10 gallon tank but i was planning on getting a bigger one some were between 55 gallons and 100 gallon and i want to get more chiclids and they are very cool fish
very nice tank. can anyone help me. how to get my ocean rocks super clean and how many more chiclids can i put in a 32 gallon tank with plenty of rocks and with 12 chiclids?
put your rocks in boiled water so all the germs will die.. If there still dirty clean them with a sponge and boil them again. Before putting them in your tank make sure there room temperture, for the second question, depends of what chiclids you have already have.
Thanks.. I've been working on it very hard to get it right.. I've made a couple of changes and will do anoter video soon.. let me know what u think ..

You have a nice aquarium but you have mixed differents species from the malawi lake and tanganyika lake..
So this can't be the best african aquarium..
And the wood is for fishes from south america and not for fishes from Malawi and tanganyika
Because the water is getting to saurish for the fishes or you have put the wood for a couple of years under the water that the sour is gone..
chilling aquarium

very nice tank. can anyone help me. how to get my ocean rocks super clean and how many more chiclids can i put in a 32 gallon tank with plenty of rocks and with 12 chiclids?
rchana86 3 years ago
Hi thanks.
put your rocks in boiled water so all the germs will die.. If there still dirty clean them with a sponge and boil them again. Before putting them in your tank make sure there room temperture, for the second question, depends of what chiclids you have already have.
mmagnocavallo 3 years ago
