  • I wonder if the Iomega iConnect Wireless Data Station is compatible with DLNA TVs Samsung Series 5?

  • i gotta hear the reason one person DISLIKED this? Like you have a better idea or solution? idiots...

  • Hey .. im planning to buy this device , one questions... can i connect an external DVD drive to one of the USB ports and access files of my dvds on my network. that way ill have a network shared DVD drive.. thx :)

  • I think i should get one!

  • Thank you!! It's Awesome

  • Hello. I liked to know if is it possible to have acess only in my network not to the internet, is it possible to restrict the acess?

  • @samelight This product is very different from a router... the Iomega iConnect has built-in software that offers a ton of features like iTunes server, UPnP AV media server, print serving, torrent download, Picture Transfer Protocol, Retrospect Express backup software, Time Machine support, and much more! It allows you to bring all of your desktop and portable USB storage into your home network... for well under $100. download.iomega.com/com/resources/iconnect_datasheet_1209.pdf

  • you could've added a link for purchase :S

  • @Mohamedhp Good point! amazon.com/Iomega-iConnect-Wireless-Station-34779/dp/B0035JCI6M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295044364&sr=8-1

  • I was hoping to use it as a wireless hard drive with my iPad, but I can't scroll through the contents of my drive.

I was able to send and receive test files though.

Dang the war between Jobs and Adobe!

  • I've heard it always keeps the hard disks in running mode and never goes to standby. Is it true? Because if it is so, it can dramatically affect the hard drives' life!

  • I brought this from new egg 2 weeks ago and I love it. Keep up the good work.

  • @ASR1O Thanks very much!!!

  • Hey, I have some questions about this product.

Does it connect to my router through ethernet or WLAN?

Can this allow me to use a USB printer from different computers? How?

How does the iTunes support work? If I put my music on an external hard drive and plug it in to the iConnect, does that mean all my computers can access the same music through iTunes?

  • @ArmenianSOADfreak Here's a link to a solution sheet on the iTunes functionality: download.iomega.com/com/nas/pdfs/nasitunesquickguide.pdf

For print serving, you can connect up to two printers to the Iomega iConnect. Then you can print from any device on your network - PC, Mac, or Linux.

  • Awesome I will buy it

  • do i have to have the net for wireless access to my extrnal hard drive

or cani have wireless access to my extrnal hard drive without the net connation?

  • @sadhuramsharma The Iomega iConnect does need to connect to your home router - wired or wireless - in order to work.

  • This idea is ok, but not needed anymore because you have Routers with the option to install a hard drive plus Routers also have usb ports.

Iomega trying to make out of something extra you don't need.

  • @MrHakkinen25 Ok that's true but most of the NAS-to-USB-Adapters out there just support the old FAT32-System and that's simply not state-of-the-art. For myself, i will buy it just looking the best price.

  • Does the management software need to be installed on every client in the home network? How does iConnect handle individual drive letter assignments -- client-by-client basis of each pooled device, or does it create a master set that all (PC) clients must then inherit and use?

  • Hi brianglett! The management software should be installed on every client to simplify the discovery and drive mapping to the Iomega iConnect. The Iomega iConnect will also be found by Windows Rally and by Bonjour, so the management software is not a necessity. The drive letters are assigned client-by-client. Hope this answers your questions!

  • where can i buy one? I live in Toronto

  • Hi eklizia. Though they are currently out of stock, Amazon Canada is carrying the Iomega iConnect. Check back with them next week, we have more inventory being shipped regularly!

  • Few questions

    A. Does this device use cloud computing like pogoplug?

    B. Will my data go through your servers?

    C. What is the level of security if the data goes through your servers?

    D. Do I need to have the subscription to keep using it or can I use it as NAS within my home and only lose the ability to access my files from anywhere over the web when I am outside the house?

  • Hi timthebeaver.

    A. No. The Iomega iConnect is fully functional by its own software and processor power. No cloud or online service is required.

    B. No. All data stays on your network. If you enable the remote access feature, then data will travel via the internet, but not through our server.

  • D. You can use the item on your home network with no limit. The remote access feature, powered by TZO, is free for one year. To continue to have the remote access after the first year, it does require a $5.95 annual renewal fee.

  • How much is it? :)

  • MSRP is just $99.99!

  • What the transfer rate on this on a gigabit lan? is it anything above 20MB/sec?

  • Performance is greatly impacted by the particular USB device connected, and the file system running on that USB device. Some USB HDDs and Flash drives are faster than others. If you have a fast USB HDD you can achieve performance rates up to 24 MB/sec.

  • MARKETING 101, its actually Storage Area Network (SANs) for Dummies..

  • me want, seems like exactly what I need. will give feedback once i get my hands on it.

  • Home network storage with no built-in memory? Very cool. I have a bunch of random hard drives from old jobs and stuff. Green is good.

  • Hi prkittysd1969. The product connects all those old drives into your home network, which is very green. It includes WiFi b/g/n, as well as a gigabit ethernet port and four USB 2.0 ports, so you get wired or wireless access.

Itll also turn any attached drive into a media server, supporting both DLNA and iTunes server standards, as well as sharing any printer plugged in across the network.

  • This is nice. It would also be nice if you guys had a link to this product. I'm interested but to lazy to search for it. : )

  • Hi telj1. You can visit iomega. com/iconnect
