It looks amazing that the guy who played as "The Giant" has a gold tooth which can been seen at 2:06. (I just think it looks amazing because I don't see too many people with gold teeth, only silver teeth I see).
I might be wrong but, I think this was the only Sesame Street news where Kermit didn't interview a fairy tale character. Also, it was a little surprising how Kermit was afraid of the Giant since Kermit's not part of the story of "Jack And The Beanstalk", and Kermit has interviewed a lot of the fairy tale villians (including the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs) and Kermit was never scared of those villians and those villians answered his questions nicely and politely.
Well, it could just be that he like many other characters are afraid of Giants just because they are giants. Not all giants are villians except that wrestler THE BIG SHOW and Godzilla from the movies.
That's an excellent point. I guess the size of the Giant scared Kermit and maybe Kermit got scared from 1:38-1:45 where Kermit thought the Giant was going to eat him. (If the Giant wasn't going to eat him, I'm not sure why he said that). In my opinion, I guess the actor and wrestler "Andre The Giant" would be the perfect Giant for this skit and his voice sounds perfect for a Giant. (Andre The Giant was even called a Giant on the movie "The Princess Bride.")
When the Giant said this line, I used to be very scared when he would make his eyes very wide while looking towards the camera. As soon as Kermit climbed down the beanstalk very fast, I would cover my eyes and listen to the Giant say the line but, I wouldn't look at him since I was afraid of him making his eyes very wide. Sometimes I would watch him make his eyes very wide keeping a far distance from the television.
As for me, it frightened me so much the first time I saw it that I whenever it came on after that, I covered my eyes before the giant even showed his face. It was just too much for me.

Steve Whiteman-Ernie today after Jim Henson died and Kermit and Rowlf(Today,s Muppet show.) Eric Jacobson-Grover in today,s Sesame Street,Play with me Sesame and Global Grover.
Just so you know, Jerry also makes a cameo as the face of the Magic Mirror in the News Flash featuring the Wicked Witch from Snow White, where the witch tries to fool the mirror into telling her she's the fairest of them all, AND is wearing a hat, has two beautiful eyes, is green, is in the same room him right now and is holding a microphone; without knowing that Kermit is hiding behind the curtain.
Jim Henson's son, Brian, created "Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story," a movie about Jack's descendant discovering of what really happened during the events of the story. Which aired on tv in 2001. Idon't understand why the giant did not stand on the cloud Kermit climed through.
I agree. I'm sure if the Giant was going to eat Kermit, he probably would've grabbed Kermit as soon as the Giant stuck his head out from behind the cloud. But I wonder why the Giant said, "fee fye foe fumb, I smell a juicy little frog" if he was not going to eat Kermit. With the Giant saying that, it made it sound like he was going to eat Kermit as soon as he got out from behind the cloud.
Yeah! I agree. But if the giant was going to eat Kermit he might not have said "Aw they often come to visit, but they never stay," in a tone like you miss someone and feel sad.
If he DID just want to say "Hello", He could have just said: "Fe-fo-fi-fog! I hear the voice of Kermit the Frog." As though, the giant had watched previous Sesame Street News Flashes.

I would've liked it better if the giant was one of the female puppeteers. Hey, what can I say?

Lots of people can figgure out who is who. How do people know this?
lion371 4 years ago
It's fairly easy once you know what each Muppeteer sounds like. A good starting point is to know each guy's main characters.
Jim Henson - Kermit, Ernie, Guy Smiley
Frank Oz - Grover, Bert, Cookie Monster
Jerry Nelson - Count, Herry, Mumford
Richard Hunt - Don Music, Forgetful Jones, Gladys the Cow
Caroll Spinney - Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch
mdumas43073 4 years ago
Don't forget Fran Brill, whose main characters include Prairie Dawn, Zoe and Little Bird. There's also...
Marty Robinson - Telly Monster, Snuffy, Buster the Horse
Kevin Clash - Elmo, Hoots the Owl, Benny Rabbit
David Rudman - Baby Bear

And Bryant Young-Back half of Snuffy.

I recognize this cameo. That's Jerry Nelson as the giant.
tpirman1982 4 years ago
That's right. You can also tell by the distinctive voice he uses in it. He also always does the NEWS FLASH announcer in all of these special reports.
wiley207 4 years ago
I've often wondered why he kept making those faces, though.

"They often come to visit, but they never stay." I can't help but to feel sorry for the guy.

My favorite characters Jerry voices is Gobo Fraggle, Feenie Fraggle, Fishface Fraggle and Great Uncle Gobo Fraggle.
