I've supported labour through thick and thin, and I have to say, I much prefer the Milibands to Blair. I really hope they win the next election- it is impossible to pass your GCSE's and A Levels when the Tories are in power. They don't test intelligence, they test how well you can memorise text. Ed Milliband had a brief career in television journalism before going into politics; Cameron went straight into politics after education, which means Milliband is one job closer to having a "proper job," though that term is so subjective I can't see why you're holding any value by it.

@MrBristolian OK, so now you understand what the word "defecit" means. Now "debt". Government debt is the total figure of how much the government owes in bond yields and bond maturities. The UK government raises money by selling bonds to investors, including other countries such as China. A bond gives a buyer the right to governmental payments as a % of the bonds worth each year until the bond "matures", at which point the UK pays the buyer the whole value of that bond. This is very expensive.

Pre "global recession" (wasn't experienced by india china germany thailand brazil...) labour had borrowed year on year, which meant that the debt before the recession was in excess of 500 billion. bailing out the banks cost 97-120 billion. so you see, labour in fact bare full responsibility for our current debt levels... which the interest ensures is still growing despite the cuts.
