What if Bakshi had far more control in the development of the film? What a masterpiece it could have been. The whole film could have been of this quality, especially if he actually got to make all the parts he planned on.
I find this battle to have far more tension than the one in Peter's Jackson's one. The orcs arent getting wasted by the thousands, the battle feels more chaotic and the chanting was epic. Far better than roaring.
Jackson couldn't capture the weird intensity and menace of Bakshi's Orcs..And the music score is bombastic here.. Two things severely lacking in the Jackson films.
@DEZEKER0 just get over that, it makes the scene better. i and many people enjoyed this scene dispite the flaws. it could be worse, it could have them shoot a rainbow then they live happily every after
Why Uruk-Hai is sitting on a horse, not on wargs 1:09 ? Why uruk-hai have a dogs 0:20 ? Why Legolas looks like a human ? Why army Rohan looks like a Arabs 5:09 ?
Why sky is red ? Why Uruk-hai don't have a armor ? Why they look the same 0:06 ? why ? Why ? WHY ?
Absolutely hellish and evil! The one thing Bakshi did better than anyone covering these films is the dark characters and designs. They're terrifying and nightmarish. Shame Jackson wasn't able to capture that aesthetic.
@thesithempire it depends on how you take both of them. both films have great strengths and weaknesses in portraying this scene. to me jackson's orks were quite nightmarish especially since they sounded and acted like beasts but were able to form millitary ranks, the orcs im bakshi's seemed to me to be more like an angry rabble. but i do like the orcs singing in this version. jackson's version portrayed this in more of an epic sence(cus they had more money) while this is more grit and battleish.
Sky keeps changing randomly between blue and red...Rohirrim don't move unless they are being shot at...the orcs ram their battering ram into a wall instead of the gate....
And yet, I still like this rendition of the battle better than the one in the Peter Jackson film.
@wuebboltc The part I enjoy most about it this scene is the music, really. Where as the music in Peter Jackson's felt recycled and slightly rewritten (could have swore I heard a few of the notes in the Helms Deep battle in Lothlorien), this felt original. Especially the tune the Uruk-hai sing. Jackson's uruks seem more like barely organized berserkers, where as the uruks here seem like they're part of a legitimate army. A legitimately stupid army, to be sure, but a legitimate army none the less.
@BlueDemonofFire One thing the Peter Jackson movies really, really lacked was music. Don't get me wrong, it had a great soundtrack at some points, but it just can't compare with the animated movies. In-story music was a huge part of the books that the movie just left out. A real shame.
@UltraMegaSquirrel well i can say each has their own versin, Here the uruks are a legitemate army as @BlueDemonofFire said, and jackson are unorginized berzerkers, i like both but each has a sperate feeling,
@UltraMegaSquirrel also if you think about it, jacksons movie was made on locaton mostly, plus i think new line was still rather new, so all they had money for was the main film,

in my personal opinion, this version of the helms deep battle looks and sounds better than the Jackson version.
sure, some guys dont even move, orcs ram their battering ram into a wall instead of a gate..
but it stills looks fantastic.
red works better than blue. because it looks more hellish and bloody, i like that kind of stuff
