Heavy Metal is essentially the foundation of Post-Sabbath Classic and Doom Metal, and and similar to some of their works like Paranoid and Children of the Grave. It takes Classic Metal, speeds up the tempo, usually adds more bridges & changes, and holds more emphasis on the Guitar & Drums. Good examples are Dio, Iron Maiden & Judas Priest.

I do agree that Death Metal is a great Sub-Genre,.... depending on the band however. If they can make their songs Melodic and Well-Structured pieces of heavy art (Examples are Dethklok, Children of Bodom, ect.), or Thrashy Death Metal, with a boost of heaviness (Morbid Angel, ect.) then it's great. However, I can't stand Death Metal that is just people trying to be as "Heavy" as possible, when they end up just sounding really loud, and really bad.

Listen to Children of Bodom, Arch Nemesis, Dethklok, and (Especially if you like Thrash) Morbid Angel (Some of their songs are kinda bleh, but they have some good ones like Chapel of Ghouls.). They are great Death Metal bands.
