can you do something with fluorescent phosphorus? or whatever it's called where you leave it in the light and it glows green in the dark? and how the glow weakens in the cold and strengthens in the heat? I was wondering if you'd take this to Liquid Nitrogen and close-to-melting-point temperatures and see what happens.
hello nurdrage i would like to see a video on the Iodine Clock Reaction i have seen a lot of videos on it but no one will explain what the chemicals are in layman's terms as i am new to chemistry i don't know all the chemicals by there appropriate names it would be much appreciated
hey, i was outside one day and i put an unopened container of power-aid into the freezer and it stayed a liquid even tho all of my other opened drinks froze solid.after a little while i poured it into a cup of ice and it turned to mush will you explain to me how that happened???
Hey nurdrage i think this can important for you and other..
:The relativ atom masses are to handel (addit) with (g/mol=x*10^-36) for the exactly molecularmass, divide it by the number of atoms and verb they paralell to the exactly ratio you want. You can to addit the sames atoms before do the paralell verbs.
It is a kind of magic sure.
Amazon.de sell an periodensystem with relative atommasses and more (study knowledge).
I like the texas instrument calculators (not the cheapest.)
you sould do the thing where you put a full copper penny in a tray and then put acid im not sure what and it will disappear into gas and then poor in something else and it will reappear as a copper blob
Here's a simple experiment I used to do as a kid to trick my friends. I would dissolve baking soda in some milk, then pour it into a glass that had some sodium silicate solution in the bottom (cleverly hidden by my hand). After about a minute I would turn the glass upside down - everything would turn to gel.
5 g sodium carbonate , 2.5 g ammonium nitrate and 5%CuSO4 solution . disolve the first 2 chems in 50 g of water sepritly. add all to beaker fast and a wonderful dark blue colour appears
because when you melt the sodium chlorate, the heat from the sodium chlorate heats the candy to its flash point and so it will burn. and burnt candy isn't for eating.
It sounds like youve inhaled Sulphur Hexafluoride! But on a more serious note, you guys are my favourite people on youtube and are the only people I fully understand for I too have been taunted for being a fellow nerd!
Have you seen the iodine clock reaction? I have found several videos showing this experiment but none with detailed instructions and it would be an interesting experiment to know how it works and how to do it.
Do a reaction between aluminium and crystal iodine. Also it would be cool if you could make a video on how to extract crystal iodine from the tincture.
@rushianokun technically it can be done using supercritical carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide itself will evaporate making the caffeine safe to eat. But if you had the high-pressure vessel needed to work with supercritical carbon dioxide you'd probably also be rich enough to buy caffeine pills directly
i have something cool.............making something usefull that can be sold like gold or silver.... i have no idea how you would do that but im sure you'd be able to.. (not the penny trick i mean real gold) ....OR.... find a way to light ammonium nitrate. =)
In chemistry once, we did the sodium chlorate and candy experiment, except we used a rather large gummy bear instead. When it ignited, a chunk flew out a burned a hole through one of the kid's homework.
Not sure if you could do it, but one thing that always fascinates me is super saturate solutions used to grow crystals like those used in special application mechanics.
Example would be Monopotassium phosphate grown crystals for use in the NIF laser facility.
Watching the growing of dendritic silver crystals brought to mind a similar reaction I have done: growing Cu crystals by reaction of Co with CuSO4 solution.
My crystal weren't as pretty as yours, being more 'chunky' than tree-like. They were alsosmall and needed some magnification to appreciate them.
The 'virgin' Cu crystals are a wonderful colour but soon tarnish - I found keeping them under water limited this. No doubt cobalt can be replaced by other metals.
A quick question of sodium chlorate. I read that "Industrially, sodium chlorate is synthesised from the electrolysis of hot sodium chloride solution in a mixed electrode tank." What does it mean by mixed electrode tank and can this be done at home?
if you want something cool.... try to make nitroglykerin....it is cool...dangerous....exposive....reactive....just perfect...i tryed to make some....but something gone bad....
a good suggestion for an experiment would be says making chromyl chloride and add it to water with acidified 3% H2O2 it forms bluish tendrils from the water surface that looking amazing..try it out..!!
make silver acetylide from scratch; put carbide in water to make acetylene, then bubble the acetylene through a silver nitrate and water solution. when it dries, the powder left is silver acetylide, which is highly explosive :)
Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) Is kind of coolgas to play with. Maybe you should film the classic SF6 boat :3 And then inhale it, and your voice will be dddrramatic!
Drop calcium carbide into an aqueous reaction bubbling chlorine. I have used sodium hypochlorite with hydrochloric acid when I demonstrate this amazing reaction. The result is a raging firestorm in a beaker.
