  • Make a reaction between molten amonium nitrate and copper wire

  • hydrogen foam :D

  • can't the reaction with the candy and the sodium chlorate be done with other chlorates? like potassium chlorate?

  • Do Tert-Butyllithium

  • I mean picric acid

  • @athaulfthegoth Yes they are. They are explosives. He just spelled trinitrotoluene and picramic acid wrong and wrote trinitroglycerin with a "di"

  • You can make nitrocellulose aka guncotton and grow some nice and big cristals

  • What in the candy made it ignite?

  • can you use potassium chlorate?

  • In the third one, you use sodium chlorate. How is this different to sodium chloride?

  • Briggs Rauscher Reaction and Iodine Clock Reaction?

  • Can you do something that uses household items and is fairly cool?

  • 1:11 kinda looks like a hairy arm no offense

  • @elflordbob1 No. Vegetable oil and toner.

  • Make a ferro fluid

  • @superfrenchfrys

    printer ink + vegtable oil

  • i wanna see a party trick! :)

  • hey, can you preservate a snow flake like Leonard did on The Big Bang Theory?

  • that stuff DOES NOT LIKE CANDY!!! LOL

  • Make magnetic water

  • can you do something with fluorescent phosphorus? or whatever it's called where you leave it in the light and it glows green in the dark? and how the glow weakens in the cold and strengthens in the heat? I was wondering if you'd take this to Liquid Nitrogen and close-to-melting-point temperatures and see what happens.

  • dnalk

  • Dr. Soprano?

Then I guess the experiment works because HE SAYS SO - OR ELSE!!!!

  • SMOKE BOMBS !!! Dx

  • anything cool in science you want to demo, huh?.... hmm..... how about you demo.... A BLACK HOLE =D

  • please do something with manganese heptoxide, no other video i have seen shows how to make it. they never explained the science either.

  • @NurdRage ... Huge fan, but where do you get you vials and test tubes?

    THANKS!

  • make 30% hydrogen peroxide via electrolysis of sulfuric acid

  • nerdrage.com doesn't seem to work :(

  • I guess candy can kill me one day

  • 9, 10-dihydroplatinaanthracene-

    4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine -gasps for air-

  • hello nurdrage i would like to see a video on the Iodine Clock Reaction i have seen a lot of videos on it but no one will explain what the chemicals are in layman's terms as i am new to chemistry i don't know all the chemicals by there appropriate names it would be much appreciated

  • hey, i was outside one day and i put an unopened container of power-aid into the freezer and it stayed a liquid even tho all of my other opened drinks froze solid.after a little while i poured it into a cup of ice and it turned to mush will you explain to me how that happened???

  • hi nurdrage thanks for fun videos.

here are some cool things to show.

gun cotton making, iodine clock reaction, and dicromate volcano

    best regards

  • a tiny piece of candy did that.. holy shit

  • can't we just call it 'the green one'

  • Hey nurdrage i think this can important for you and other..

:The relativ atom masses are to handel (addit) with (g/mol=x*10^-36) for the exactly molecularmass, divide it by the number of atoms and verb they paralell to the exactly ratio you want. You can to addit the sames atoms before do the paralell verbs.

It is a kind of magic sure.

Amazon.de sell an periodensystem with relative atommasses and more (study knowledge).

I like the texas instrument calculators (not the cheapest.)

  • 0:48 What???

  • how about polyvinl alcohol and potassium chloride. mix them together it gets real cold

  • play with fire and liquid oxygen

  • 0:50 scrabble?

  • SOMETHING WITH LIQUID HELIUM! ITS THE COLDEST THING ON EARTH!!

  • you sould do the thing where you put a full copper penny in a tray and then put acid im not sure what and it will disappear into gas and then poor in something else and it will reappear as a copper blob

  • aluminium and bromine or iodine

  • Here's a simple experiment I used to do as a kid to trick my friends. I would dissolve baking soda in some milk, then pour it into a glass that had some sodium silicate solution in the bottom (cleverly hidden by my hand). After about a minute I would turn the glass upside down - everything would turn to gel.

  • Why am I not surprised that when I tossed "Sodium chlorate" into the search box I would find some NurdRage :) I'm glad I did! =)

  • Wow! that burning candy was eye catching! I know how destroying some candy might

upset your tummy because you don'nt get to eat it, but that was incredible.

  • what about trinitrotolueen pircric acid and dinitroglycerin and mercury fulminate wwwwaaaaaahhhhhhtttttttt about them

  • @theman2160 those chemecals arn't actualy true. You are pretty funny though!

  • heard of the prince rupert's drop?

  • @nycdcheat yea u flick its tail and it breaks supah fast

  • WOW that is cool... I wonder if you can make a rocket with the candy and sodium chlorate.

  • try doing a demonstration on how thermite woks.

  • Try adding maganese heptoxide to gasoline

  • 5 g sodium carbonate , 2.5 g ammonium nitrate and 5%CuSO4 solution . disolve the first 2 chems in 50 g of water sepritly. add all to beaker fast and a wonderful dark blue colour appears

  • it is sooooooooooo AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Have you tried looking at a kindling under a microscope as the "fire" spreads?

  • whats your magnification?

  • Iodine Clock Reaction. Do that :3

  • heat up candle wax in a test tube till it melts not to boiling point and then dip it in water see what will happen

  • Could you do the Gummy Bear ReAnimation experiment. Im not sure if you know that one, but if you do Id be very happy to see it done.

  • re: sodium chlorate and candy

because when you melt the sodium chlorate, the heat from the sodium chlorate heats the candy to its flash point and so it will burn. and burnt candy isn't for eating.

  • You sound Just like butthead

    ...coool :D

  • Any body knows where to buy pure potassium or sodium?

  • @Dotatouch alfa aesar, sigma aldrich

  • @Dotatouch united nuclear sells both.

  • show the difference of how the body would process sugar vs high fructose corn syrup.

  • Try getting dry ice and 90% rubbing alcohol and add it together slowly the end result should be liquid nitrogen

(not the good stuff poor mans liquid nitrogen)

  • liquid nitrogen?

  • It sounds like youve inhaled Sulphur Hexafluoride! But on a more serious note, you guys are my favourite people on youtube and are the only people I fully understand for I too have been taunted for being a fellow nerd!

  • @ChemistryNutAndProud then if he inhaled helium he would have a normal voice lol

  • Make flameing bubbles

  • I dare you to say 9,10-dihydroplatinaanthracene-4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine, 5 times, really fast.

  • get a solution of potassium iodide and mix it with a solution of lead nitrate, it will produce the yellow precipitate that looks cool

  • Isn't sodium chlorate NaCl? So I guess it should be legal since it's salt...

  • @QcTechs

NaCl is sodium CHLORIDE (NaCl) not Chlorate NaClO3

  • @QcTechs No, table salt is Sodium Chloride. Sodium Chlorate is a different formula entirely.

  • Thank you for your video ! Superb quality and amazing detail .

    A++++++

i also have a couple of question :

Is Sodium Chloride legal in US/Canada ?

Can i make some , or you need to buy it ...?

  • could you tell me where to get cheap but good chemistry glass wear in uk as that is were i live

  • Can you do a video on making lead nitrate and potassium iodide?

  • I remember doing an experiment where I got a torch and added different chemical powders to make the flame change colour

  • @NurdRage

Have you seen the iodine clock reaction? I have found several videos showing this experiment but none with detailed instructions and it would be an interesting experiment to know how it works and how to do it.

  • Do a reaction between aluminium and crystal iodine. Also it would be cool if you could make a video on how to extract crystal iodine from the tincture.

  • Would the same thing happen with kno3 it's still an oxider not as strong but would you have to light it ?

  • That's pretty awesome my friend told me about this

  • how did u do that to candy it is the best thing ever made

  • why can't we float ???

  • do salt and bleach form sodium chlorate?

  • Try reacting aluminium with conc. nitric acid and heat the nitric acid up. I don't know if it will work.

  • Excrtact edible pure caffeine please, would love to take a little capsule of caff and just eat a little when im sleepy at college!!

  • @rushianokun technically it can be done using supercritical carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide itself will evaporate making the caffeine safe to eat. But if you had the high-pressure vessel needed to work with supercritical carbon dioxide you'd probably also be rich enough to buy caffeine pills directly

  • @NurdRage can you make videos with mercury?

  • @rushianokun and caffine takes 8 grams to kill you on average via heart attack

  • make aqua rega and dissolve gold? or someting along those lines?

  • @NurdRage Why not

  • does that last one produce thrust can you make a roket out of it send me a message please

  • i have something cool.............making something usefull that can be sold like gold or silver.... i have no idea how you would do that but im sure you'd be able to.. (not the penny trick i mean real gold) ....OR.... find a way to light ammonium nitrate. =)

  • the Barking Dog demo perhaps

  • the Barking Dog demo perhaps

  • get a huge air balloon: perferably bart simpson. fill it with hydrogen then light it.

  • that made no sense, i meant: 90 Moles of 100% Pure CESIUM with a pool of Distilled water!!

  • 90 M 100% Pure CESIUM with a pool of Distilled water!!

  • Hey Nurdrage? Can you show us how to extract the lysergic acid from Morning glory seeds?

  • @snower5554 Lysergic Acid is what makes LSD isn't it??

  • @terebithia5000 damn it... yes it is...

  • Try the reaction of Hydrogen Chloride and Aluminum

  • lolz very cooooooooooooooooooool thx(nerdrage)u r osme keeeep going

  • The last one reminds me of my stomach when I eat candy, the same thing happens.

  • look at my other comments and videos, please

  • @NurdRage what does that do?

  • how about kno3 and suger (rocket fuel)

  • In chemistry once, we did the sodium chlorate and candy experiment, except we used a rather large gummy bear instead. When it ignited, a chunk flew out a burned a hole through one of the kid's homework.

  • pretty cooooooool chemical experimets

  • the name of the compound Dr. Soprano made is perfect for playing hangman. no1 will guess that lol

  • Not sure if you could do it, but one thing that always fascinates me is super saturate solutions used to grow crystals like those used in special application mechanics.

Example would be Monopotassium phosphate grown crystals for use in the NIF laser facility.

  • many diffrent chmiluminecent reactions?

    please

  • NurdRage, your videos are great!

Watching the growing of dendritic silver crystals brought to mind a similar reaction I have done: growing Cu crystals by reaction of Co with CuSO4 solution.

My crystal weren't as pretty as yours, being more 'chunky' than tree-like. They were alsosmall and needed some magnification to appreciate them.

The 'virgin' Cu crystals are a wonderful colour but soon tarnish - I found keeping them under water limited this. No doubt cobalt can be replaced by other metals.

  • Could you make thermite (rust + aluminum)?

    Could you make NI3?

  • @billytalentrocks345 jeez! nitrogen triiodide?! YOUR GOING TO KILL US ALL

  • isnt sodium chlorate table salt?

  • wish it was... I'm sorry to say that it's not. Sodium chlorate has the formula NaClO3, and table-salt, Sodium chloride, has the formula NaCl.

  • nope thank god! table salt is sodium chloride (NaCl). sodium chlorate is NaClO3. much much more reactive than table salt. hope this helps.

  • @blueduderanch yep it did ty

  • NurdRage you seem to be the most expert about chemistry round here.

I'd like to know if there's a way to plate copper with silver in a lasting way, I mean I don't want that damn crystals to be removed... :)

    Thanks for attention..

  • First one is the best

  • A quick question of sodium chlorate. I read that "Industrially, sodium chlorate is synthesised from the electrolysis of hot sodium chloride solution in a mixed electrode tank." What does it mean by mixed electrode tank and can this be done at home?

  • I GOT SOMETHING COOL!!! MnO2 + H2O2 K2S2O5 + H2O2 CuO + Al Fe2O3 + Al

  • What does that make?

  • What does that make?

  • @samn100 They all explode.....

  • lol

  • @freakin1random wat is it?

  • @freakin1random whats that???? (im not good at chemical equations)

  • if you want something cool.... try to make nitroglykerin....it is cool...dangerous....exposive....reactive....just perfect...i tryed to make some....but something gone bad....

  • wich vid does he talk bout Mr G in?

  • more of these can`t make em but cool to watch (it`s realy hard to get chemicals in finland)

  • @pomputin123 tell me which you want, i might be able to help you find some.

  • I saw a demonstration like this at colombia University.

    Nice video!

  • which one?

  • the third one

  • I mean, which university

  • Columbia University, I said that!

  • lol nice candy!

    thanx for this videos, really

  • a good suggestion for an experiment would be says making chromyl chloride and add it to water with acidified 3% H2O2 it forms bluish tendrils from the water surface that looking amazing..try it out..!!

  • i meany alkiline oops :P

  • hmmm i still think my fav reaction is potassium metal and waterand ive learned science really isnt that boring

  • make silver acetylide from scratch; put carbide in water to make acetylene, then bubble the acetylene through a silver nitrate and water solution. when it dries, the powder left is silver acetylide, which is highly explosive :)

  • Already WAAAAYYY too many videos on silver acetylide, doubtful i can do a better job than what's already out there.

  • the 2nd compound nurdrage... is it a Pt(IV) complex..??

  • 9,10-dihydroplatinaanthracene-4,4'-di-te rt-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine Btw. never heard that :o

How did Dr. soprano make it, accidentally, or how?

  • Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) Is kind of coolgas to play with. Maybe you should film the classic SF6 boat :3 And then inhale it, and your voice will be dddrramatic!

Thank you for these videos, Dr. Lithium

  • How about thermite? Fe2O3 + Al

  • toooooooo hot..!

  • Drop calcium carbide into an aqueous reaction bubbling chlorine. I have used sodium hypochlorite with hydrochloric acid when I demonstrate this amazing reaction. The result is a raging firestorm in a beaker.

  • you can add two things that will blow up which is sodium and chlorine.not new but at least when your eating a sandwich or something after the experiment at least your left with non-toxic food to add which of course is table salt

  • How to get elemental sodium would be a neat video!

  • mix magnesium powder and drain cleaner, then light it on fire, chunks of sodium will be left in the ashes.

  • you know like how the acetone binds together with the peroxide and how the HCL acid breaks off the hydrogen creating acetone peroxide crystals its really quite interesting

  • i know how to make acetone peroxide i just find it interesting and i would verry much appreciate it if i could get to know how it works with all the chemical bindings

  • how about making one of the worlds biggest salt crystals ? and i mean , something huge :P

  • you could show how to make acetone peroxide using hydrogen peroxide acetone and a strong acid (Hcl) 20-30 %

  • Chickrip, I doubt he is going to tutor you on how to make High Explosives. Not that you probably just couldn't google it, but its immature people who mess with sensitive compounds like Acetone Peroxide that puts a bad name on all Chemists.

  • The first demonstration was the "coolest" thing I have ever seen.

  • ....Are you like a genius?

Is your IQ Like 162? Dude your like a super-human.

  • Now this may not be cool, but make a video on how to make Perchloric Acid. It's a really awesome chemical.

  • What about how to make those liquids that turn solid under the presence of a magnetic field?

  • that's just fine magnetic powder suspended in oil. that's physics. but it's still cool. : )

  • Make plasma: D.That always ammuses me Lol,But i'm a dip shit..I already know i am.

  • damn that shit on the left has a long as name lol

  • Mixing aluminum powder and iodine is very cool. You should try that one.

  • i would have an experiment. take your lithium (na and k does of course also work) and then drop some hno3 on it. it instant catches fire.
