I lived in Mexico City then. My son was 5 and he kept drawing ambulances and wounded people. Actually, ambulances were heard day and night for over a week. It was so sad, you could feel death and pain everywhere but the good thing is that everybody wanted to help (ordinary citizens). Too bad that corruption was worse during that terrible period.
I was 12 yrs old and lived in Tlatelolco in a similiar building like the one that collapsed (Nuevo Leon) I lived on the 9th floor, I remember i was having breakfast with my brothers and the earthquake started, there was broken glass, you could hear and see the walls crack, and when i saw outside the window I saw a big cloud of smoke of the building that fell. It was so scary, we left the building and didn't come back, our section of nearly fell. And everyone was trying to help everyone else. :-(
Yeah so was I... I remember I originally thought there was something wrong with me, that I had lost my balance and I was having some sort of a seizure.... Nope. The ground was shaking. Iwas having breakfast to go to school. It was terrible....
this is so sad. my mom was in this earthquake when she was little. she wasnt in mexico city but she was in michoacan which is close. and when she told me this story i cried. she said when she walked outside there was a whole bunch of rubble everywhere. but the funny thing is that when it happened she was on the toilet lol but its still sad. AND IM NOT MAKING THIS UP its a true story!

Terrible earthquake. I wasn't alive back then, but my parents were and they say it was really sad. Good thing is that every single citizen helped.
PS Be careful on what you say about the Mexican government, 'cause if there's a corrupt and dishonest one it's the american one.
