Thank you so much! I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong from the other beginner videos on tatting. I found your video and your two-color thread method did the trick! (Had no idea about the flipping!) Thanks again!
When you have finished putting the shuttle over and under (or under and over) you MUST loosen your left hand thread and pull tight quickly with your right hand (shuttle) thread.
It is tempting to keep the thread tight on your left hand to prevent it from slipping off your hand, but this will prevent you from flipping the stitch.
Your video is perfect. It is slow enough and explained enough to help a new tatter. However, I CANT FLIP. I hold my thread as you described and pull my thread to flip but I never get a flip. I am doing wrapping work. Have any suggestions?
Thank you for another great lesson! Could you please show us how to hide the threads you start with? I think you tat over the beginning threads. But how would you do that if you have one or two shuttles?
Ooh, ooh - how did I miss this for so long? I'm one of the people who asked for it and it is perfection! The timing is perfect, the instruction is clear and unhurried, it covers everything to get a beginner on their way and the music is gentle and in the background where it doesn't interfere with the lesson. Thank you so much and Top Marks to Toptattyhead :-) Regs... Megs
Unfortunately, YouTube only allow 10 minutes for each video and it is not long enough to do a complete project. Each video I have done, I have had to edit a great deal out to get it to fit into 10 minutes!

It all comes down to which thread you hold tight!

I hope this helps.

@Toptattyhead Hi Linda, I recently read where YouTube now gives up to 15 minutes per video. It's new and recently been implemented.
Hope this helps you in your tutorials - keep up the great work and thanks for the videos!!
take care,
Lily
