@drdethbsd Это демонстрация из школы Ричи Котзена! Не спорю стиль конечно на любителя, но называть человека придурком, тем более такого известного, считаю неуместным
@aussiephil99 So I only just learned of the modes and I'm just curious, how do you know he's playing in lydian? Can you tell by sound, sight, or are you just some kind of guitar master type guy?
@widhio normally, when something sounds like very major., and by that I mean very happy, or the kind of think you could sing to all day, that's normally lydian.
an easy way to recognise it is, if it seems sth. satriani or Vai would play, it's got a lot of chances to be lydian(cause both play lyidian most of the time).
I hope I got that right, and that I was helpful ;)
Vai is lots of noise, other guitarist dont get a chance to be up with him he always louder and more irritating, esspecially in the g3 shows its all with the whammy.
ritchie improves better than vai to me ive never been to fond of vais improve work on G3s and Namm shows. he always seems 2 get smoked by guitarist like paul gilbert andy timmons and yngwie malmsteen. vai is a god at writing original and beautiful music that is truely unique
"For the Love of God" is his indeed (to my great surprise), I checked, and is indeed good. Written in 1990..it's a long way back.. "Tender Surrender" isn't that original (his playing, yes) and "Sisters" - original but not that exciting. Thanks for th info
That is the problem with the unknowing Fender person. A Telecaster is the most versatile guitar out there. You can get any sound you want if set up properly. Just cause it's ugly, don't underate it............its a screamer.
Some of those blues licks are a bit cliche, but somehow he makes them his own & breathes his own flavor into them. I love Kotzen, I just wish his newer stuff was more experimental. It all sounds so similar to me.
What are you talking about? Still sounds VERY much like a tele, Tele's have a very strong natural tone that doesn't change much with pickups. For the stuff he's playing, it makes sense to stick a fast track in the bridge, for a bit of a push to get some more juice and body. His tone still barks like a tele should, teles rock.
Richie Kotzen is god himself!.

well i hate the fact that the the telecaster guitars are very quiet and you cant play rock or metal on them btw great vid and great guitarist
AlekFilip 3 years ago
you can, you just have to change the bridge pickup for a seymour duncan hot rails as he did and then the telecaster become so versatile, I think.

malmsteen is ridiculously good at sweeps, but his improves really aren't that complex, all he does is use the harmonic minor scale
iwishiwasafish123 4 years ago
serious?? I always though of the opposite :)
...that gilbert petrucci and also satch are a bit less creativ in improvisation...well in my opinion. But you're right ritchie's got a real talent

i want to have his babies. it would involve much sneaking with a large sack, but a productive evening nontheless.
EVHisgodyoumuppet 4 years ago
why would you choose a tele and alter the sound so much that it has nothing to do with a tele anymore?
anyway: richie kotzen is the only guitar-player I know who shreds like hell AND yet has the passion and emotion of a good blues-player in his playing.
CrucialSix 4 years ago
That's exactly what I was thinking!

Eric Johnson, Steve Morse, Michael Landau, Steve Lukather, and Carl Verheyen all can shred AND play legit blues.
