As a result most of Russian people don't get citizenship even if they have been born here. That's the most brutal violation but there are others, Russian schools getting closed down, according to AI report Russians are being practically excluded from labor market.

wrong. you get citizenship when at least one of your parents have estonian citizenship. you can apply for being a citizen if you have been living in estonia at least 5 years, have permit to live in estonia, can speak estonian, know some most basic laws from "põhiseadus". the fact that most russians do not want to become estonian citizen, is because they like to have the easier way to cross russian border - in order to visit relatives or buy cheap gas.

Now, you just go and get your Estonian passport while I have to pass exams and prove my loyalty to the country because my parent's were Russians and came to Estonia after 1940, even tho I was born in exactly the same place and exactly the same time as you. I'm in same situation as person who was born in China and came to Estonia.

Ius Soli is prevalent only in the American countries for obvious reasons, although elements of the same has been adopted by countries elsewhere more recently - including Estonia. Russia also uses ius sanguinis

Usually then this issue is raised like that, the beef is not with the citizenship law, but the interpretation of the Soviet arranged coup in 1940.
