medium crash not fatal crash actually i have seen this most of the times it not kill anyone i think he is a special guy of dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A bit disturbing that they let this race continue, considering the result. I'm glad the Dan Wheldon crash was handled properly, but then again there was debris all over the track so they couldn't really continue. Dario Franchitti looked devastated yesterday doing the tributary laps. Interestingly, he was also racing in the Moore crash too. They know the risks, but it's still very sad when something like this happens, obviously.
@WarmFanta Just some laps before another car driven by Richie Hearn spun there in the grass and hit the wall too. Hearn walked away uninjured, but the grass runoff was left damaged. When Moore spun, the damages on the grass allowed his car to dig the ground and go airborne...shit happens :/
@Drivr27 ralf schumacher hit a solid wall a few years back, Kubica hit a solid wall in canada a few years back, there should be no concrete wall that a high speed race car should hit, only tyre walls and gravel traps to slow them.
@elahive1 Tirewalls can be worse than a plain concrete wall if the car spears through with its nose...just look at Michael Schumacher's crash at Silverstone or Olivier Panis' wreck at Montreal..the nose penetrated the tyrewall causing leg fractures... and now ovals have SAFER barriers which look like plain concrete walls but give the same cushioning as a tirewall.
exactly what im saying, how is this guy trying to say that slamming nose first into a tryewall at 185mph and breaking your leg is worst then slamming nose first into a concrete wall at 150mph and dying?...I completely agree with your comment.
Tyrewalls aren't worst, you used Schumacher and Panis' crashes as examples and they came out with some broken bones, this guy flew into a concrete wall and died. So from those examples are you really still going to say that Tyrewalls can be worst?
Put it this way, if Greg Moore was to have the same accident, but instead there was a Tyrewall, would he of survived? Yes, he would of. If Schumacher and Panis were to have their same accidents into concrete walls they'd of died.
@FriendlyCroock 1. do you really need sound? 2. Man period? Calling someone a "fucking cunt" for not putting sound on a video that might not have sound because it looks old, and it's a video you don't really need sound for anyway.
@Sportingrida It is California Speedway (now named Auto Club Speedway). The track is located in Fontana, California, and is known to be the place where Gil de Ferran made the fastest average speed ever registered for a closed track lap (386 km/h average speed).
Well getting hit on his scooter was gods way of saying you better not race tomorrow. Well he raced anyway and god was like ok thats how you want to play it then here you go.
@psylover1991 If I'm understanding this correctly, a proud death = slamming head first into a concrete wall whilst flying through the air at 100mph? I'm not sure you completely understand the implications of your first comment.
This was the CART FedEx Series, not F1. Just saying....might want to change the title. Hopefully Greg didn't actually feel any pain on impact and it was a very fast passing. R.I.P.
Man, this is is by far the most violent crash I have ever seen. especially the fact that he impacted the wall "upside down" causing all those probably hundreds of negative G's.
People, can you please read a few of the comments before you post one! Yes, we realize this is not F-1, but do 300 different people really need to keep posting the same thing? We got it!
Yes, this is not F1 - we can all agree ... I am a fan of all motorsports and must say that F1 is the safest racing series to this day -- last fatality was in '94 (Senna RIP) I recall an interview where 7 time WDC Michael Schumacher was asked about doing the Indy 500 - he stated it is interesting but would decline, in his view it was too dangerous ... that speak volumes
One; this is IRL, Two; they race on Oval tracks where no braking is involved, Three; it's IRL for christ's sake. Running 200+ mph running inches from eachothers wheels? theres almost one horrible crash per year in IRL. Indy last year? Texas 2-3 yrs ago? Eurospeedway in early 2000's where the dude had to get BOTH his legs amputated? mind you they all survived, but COMON. Agree with Lsores tho, F1 is MUCH safer than it was 20 yrs ago
@mopar4t4 Hey smart guy. Not IRL. Thanks for playing though. This was CART. You also reference Alex Zanardi's 2001 accident at Eurospeedway. That was also CART. There's a big difference between CART and IRL.
@lightbulbsun43 excuse me what's CART now....IRL so stfu. Both these incidents were on Oval tracks, and thats essentially what IRL is. Formula One type cars on oval track goin 200+mph inches from one another. Granted its good racing but how many people have died/seriously injured?
@mopar4t4 1)IRL changed it's name to Indycar. 2)CART cars and Indycars were TOTALLY different. Indycar may have bought CART, but they don't race those same cars. Not even close. CART was great. Indycar is laughable in comparison. 3)The majority of Indycar races this season are held on road/street courses. This wasn't the case when CART/IRL were rival leagues. 3a)The year this happened,CART ran more road/street course than ovals. 4) Also, this was only 5 years removed from Senna's fatal F1 crash.
The rally accident in Andorra was not even close to a death... the guy was possibly going to be amputated to the arm (possibly). In F1 there is not only Greg Moore who died, there's also: Gilles Villeneuve. One of the greatest pilot of all. He died EJECTED of his non-secure seat and died on the hit by hitting a metal pole (on his head). If you watch on youtube, you can find a lot of Fatal F1 accident... But when it comes to any other racing sports, there is maybe 1 or 2 fatal accidents.
@Antropic1 I´m a racing sport enthusiastic and believe me, nowadays most secure R.Sport is F1, no tragedies since Ratzenberger and Senna 17 years ago, cant say the same about WRC,CART, Indy or Nascar perhaps DTM is equally safe, take a look at Kubica Accident at Canada, Massa at Hungary , Heidfeld-Sato at Austria, M.Scumacher at England , R. Schumacher at Indianapolis ,they all came out without serious injuries in fact they are all still racing.
And Kubica he is out of danger and recovering fine
@Lsores I can't speak for others but I know NASCAR just as secure as F1. Ever since #3 died back in 2001 they revamped the safety protocol and also started requiring the drivers to wear HANS devices.
@Lsores I wouldn't say they all came out without serious injuries. Massa missed the rest of the season with head injuries and Schumacher missed the rest of the season with a broken leg. I could also throw in the Panis crash in Montreal and the Hakkinen crash in Australia.
F1 is the dumbest ''sport'' ever... It's like playing with an antipersonnel mine. There are nothing safe in F1.. you crash: you got 80% of dying... dude you're in a cockpit that's 1/4 of the car... and dam, they decided to give fresh air to the conductor cause there is no seal on top of that, your head is exposed!
Rally, Closed-Circuit (BMW, Audi...) racing is much more secure. With the rolling cages, eject buttons, foam inject (extinguish fire), Dogbox (no need to press clutch to change speed)
@Antropic1 sorry m8 but you´re wrong , for instance the Greg Moore cras was at CART not F1, no one has died in F1 since the tragic weekend of may at imola and that was 1994, Rally is secure? mmm have you seen Kubica accident at Andorra?
@slash350h I think Greg Moore would have given a shit. At this period in time, there was a lot of pride associated with CART and it's drivers. I think getting it confused with F1 (or, oh dear god, IRL like someone else did) is disrespectful. The guy paid the ultimate price doing something he loved, have the respect to properly identify what it was exactly he loved.
@Hanjin13, only hypocrites and Fast Posters (those who post faster than they can think) amalgam "like the video" with "like what the video shows". The other ones (who make few posts but are numerous) do think, suffer with the victim, and want reports as accurate as possible. The only lack of this video IMO is that it starts too late and fails to show how the accident was caused (which would be very useful to prevent next accidents)
@bradlyw420 I get what your saying. But, I think the point is all the person who posted this is interested in is getting a bunch of hits on the video. He cared so little about this mans life, that he didn't even care to figure out what racing series he belonged to.
Gregg was a favorite racer of mine, and regardless its sad to lose someone in this dangerous sport. I love it and love to watch it but hate to see this. RIP

Yet another non-F1 crash/video labelled as F1. The cars, the track, the driver's names... all good hints that it's anything but F1.
You might as well have labelled it 'Chicken Punches Goat'.

@chadytm Are you fuckin serious? you just watched a man pretty much die and all you can say is this isnt F1? fuck you.
bradlyw420 1 year ago
@bradlyw420 I get what your saying. But, I think the point is all the person who posted this is interested in is getting a bunch of hits on the video. He cared so little about this mans life, that he didn't even care to figure out what racing series he belonged to.

he was'nt dead if you watched the live video (he just broke alot of bones)

Gregg was a favorite racer of mine, and regardless its sad to lose someone in this dangerous sport. I love it and love to watch it but hate to see this. RIP
