  • BRINGS CHILLS TO YA LOL

  • Rodgers, Crouch, Martinez, Suh, Frazier, Crick, Henery all on one team would be a tank. lol

  • Joe Adams punt return is better

  • im dating johnny "the jet" rodgers daughter. and im a girl and ive been banging her for a year (: oh yeah nice punt return also

  • @Slushay15 sounds kinky! are you both butches? or sexy dykes?

  • 71 Nebraska is regarded as one of the most dominant teams in the 20th century, with the exception if this game they beat the other teams on their schedule by 24 or more

  • @GENERALSPARTAN27 Ya because the other games were against bottomfeeders, this was their only real challenge.

  • 0:13 ...ouch

  • First guy to grab him in the endzone... Yeah that's my band director

  • the people that diskike this are oklahoma fans

  • Man, woman, and child did that put em in the aisles!!!

  • Johnny R Superstar!

  • Greatest college game I ever saw. Was rooting for Oklahoma, I loved the wishbone. Johnny Rogers tore my heart out that day.

  • This was the Very Greatest Game of ALLTIME, they even had a 3 day Armistice of the Viet Nam War for this game. I was there, at every game NU had during those days, my Uncle, he has the absolute record documented by ALL the NU coaches since 1964, he attended EVERY game from 1964 to 2006, every bowl game every home and away game, undoubtably one of the Greatest NU Fans of all time, he remains one of the greatest historians of Live Nebraska football. His stories are simply amazing!

  • NFL is gay look up AFL

  • Try 0:07 for a better look at what might have been a block in the back!

  • It looks like Nebraska got away with a block in the back at 0:09

  • Outside of one d-bag writer at ESPN(who chose some stupid Aunurn/Alabama game as the greatest of all time) this was chosen as the greatest college football game of all time according to their magazine writers. I agree, NU/OU will always be the #1 NCAA Rivalry, not Texas/OU which Texas stole from Nebraska.

  • @Brainabutler26 ya kinda disapointing that Nebraska is in the big 10....good for the big ten but OU Vs. Nebraska was always a great game! So many great players, J.C. Watts, Turner Gill, Mike Rozier, Keith Jackson, Billy Joe Dupree, Dave Rimington.....i can'r remember them all.

  • Listening to Lyle Bremser call that play never gets old.

  • @hammerhead300 Lyell, my bad.

  • @hammerhead300 I miss his play calling as I used to listen to him on 1110am KFAB (Omaha) during football Saturdays in the 70's

  • :14 look at that fucking block. damn.

  • and what everyone forgets...this started off the scoring. the unstoppable OU offense, vs the immovable nebraska defense, jesus that would have been a GREAT game to watch live.

  • 55 million watched this game. I remember more about the reactions after the game than the game itself. Didn't see a replay for 16 years. Johnny Rodgers played up to the biggest college football game and made it timeless. Oklahoma won imho just being part of it. OU could have just as easily won this GAME OF THE CENTURY!

  • nice run but talk about block in the back

  • @tulsaterry79 Nice try, that play has been analyzed by the refs who called it countless times and they've all said that Joe Blahak's block was legal.

  • Saturday Dec. 4th,

    Nebraska

    vs.

Oklahoma for the Big XII Championship. Need we say more?

  • Everybody!!!! Rogers only played in the CFL because back than his height made him too short for anyone to draft him!!!

  • johnny r superstar

  • jookin out the ref

  • The guy who would have made the tackle was dropped at the Nebraska 45 by a COLOSSAL block in the back! Oh well, that one gets called in Norman, not in Lincoln.

  • @rubeclone44 That game was played in Norman duh..

Maybe you should review ESPN college football history.

Obviously you just crawled out from under a ROCK

  • @1701CaptainKirk Touche!! But, I don't waste my time pouring over ESPN histories that are irrelevant. Rodgers, a fine college player who spent his pro career in the CFL. I would take Irving Fryar over him any day!

  • @rubeclone44 He went to the CFL because he was too short to be drafted so learn the facts before you say stuff like that he was amazing!!

  • @rubeclone44 That son of a bitch couldnt get johnny anyway.

  • Johnny Rodgers is my uncle ( I'm serious)

  • 0:15 key block...

  • he did sell cars

  • that is probably the best play by play call in history

  • @skipsta33 seriously? You need to watch more sports.

  • one of the best punt returns I ever seen in football!

  • goosebumps.

  • Johnny is NOT only a former AWESOME Player... He is a Mans Man!

Johnny is helping us expand the Hands Free Texting Crusade Across America!

    Thank you So MUCH Johnny!

    Thank you

  • ninerstd u r a person with no football knowledge or experience. he was one of the best of all time. won the heisman as well

  • @ninerstd .......you're joking right?

  • @ninerstd He sucks because he was starting on the #1 team in the NCAA? Yeah he sucks because he has one of the best and most memorable punt returns EVER! He sucks because..OH wait JOHNNY RODGERS DOESN'T SUCK!

  • Rodgers doesn't even play in the NFL. I know he was good in College Football, but come on.

  • @ninerstd he was too short to be drafted.

  • GOOSEBUMPS EVERYTIME

  • best play by play call of all time!

  • man, woman, and child did that put em in the aisles? wtf? haha. amazing return though

  • @nebhuskers923 change your name. u dont deserve to call yourself a husker fan if you've never heard that call.

  • The 95 team was the best

  • He did the same thing in the CFL

  • Johnny Rodgers was the most electrifying college football player ever! Lyell Bremser's call fantastic! Go Huksers

  • @1701CaptainKirk Jesus! Are you serious?? He was good; let's leave it at that. Ughh...

  • "Man woman and child did that put 'em in the isles!!" Great stuff.

  • Most viewed football game ever at the time. 71 Nebraska team, the greatest team of the twentieth century

  • @Moonfan78 idk, 1995 huskers were pretty amazing themselves

  • @Moonfan78 '95 team was the greatest of all time

  • 0:15 Hell of a block. Beautiful play by the entire Husker team, although indeed Rodgers was the star of the play.

  • Joe Blaha

  • no way thats a clip!

  • He was so quick/fast that the only part of his tear-away jersey that was gone was the back part of it.

  • BTW controversy still surrounds this play and therefore the game at large even 35+ years later. At 0:10 you will see a Nebraska player block an Oklahoma defender from the side. The sooner defender was off balance so it's hard to say he definitely could have stopped Rodgers. Anyway ask any Sooner who played in the game, they would say it was clipping, of course Cornhusker players would say a close but legal block. That's what rivalries are all about.

  • Greatest punt return in the history of college football. What a call by Lyle Bremser! This IS the game of the century!

  • It's Lyell everybody. Sorry to nitpick, but it's a pet peeve of mine when I see that.

  • The announcer was KFAB Radio personality Lyle Bremser. I'm not too sure that people didn't love listening to him as much as watching their beloved Huskers! Holy Moly, man, woman an child!

  • Lyle Bremser wasn't just an announcer who was doing the game, he was the lucky kid who got to go to it and then describe it to those who couldn't. There will never be another Lyle Bremser. "Holey Moley, Mother he's comin' home!"

  • Johnny the JET rodgers just tore em lose from their shoes

  • Oh it was the radio announcer. My bad. He sounded kind of like Kieth Jackson. It was one of the greatest college games of all time. It's a travesty they don't play every year anymore. Shame on both schools for that.

  • Nebraska tried to keep it, at the time when the big 12 was formed, nebraska was the best in the country and ou was having troubles with john blake and they didn't want to have to play texas and nebraska ever year.

  • Why did oklahoma remove astroturf?

  • Because it causes injuries. The game was made to be played on grass. Who is that dubbed announcer? Chris Shenkel did the play by play for ABC that day.

  • lyle bremser the nebraska play by play guy for the era.

  • The weird thing about this play is that most NU fans (and maybe OU fans) know that this play happened early in the game but most people outside the state assume that this was the play that won the game. It's weird how history changes over time.

  • GO BIG RED

  • Johnny the Jet Rodgers, the most exciting college football player ever, imo. Its a shame NU and OU don't play every year.

  • Even back then Chokelahoma couldn't win the big one.

  • what a call. can you imagine what kind of uncreative bullshit a modern announcer wouldve said? praise be to radio announcers

  • God Bless Lyle Bremser. We used to turn down the TV volume and put on KFAB.

  • Only now am I tuning my radio back in again to Husker football now that Sharpe is in and that Jim Rose is gone. Rose was awful.

  • Rose Stunk. No other way to say it. Sharpe is not Lyle, but he's decades better than Rose was!

  • man woman and child could not put him in the ile-Pure skill at its finest

  • It's "Man woman and child, did that put 'em in the aisle?" you kumquat

  • do you know the name of the announcer?

  • lyle Dremser probly one of the greatest annoucers in collage football.

  • it's Bremser

  • srry brain fart wrong key my bad srry everyone

  • It's Lyell Bremser.

  • The run is cool but the announcer is great

  • Lyle Bremser (RIP)

  • oops! by the way, his coach in the CFL ? none other than the legendary Marv Levy himself. they had a great team in the mid seventies.

  • this guy played in the CFL for several years with the Montreal Alouettes and is considered one of the greatest players in league history.Johnny Rodgers, THE ORDINARY SUPERSTAR

  • Definitely the Game of the Year in college football during the 1971 season. I was at my grandparent's house that day, as we all were every Thanksgiving. I was outside playing, but I remember my father saying over and over, "What a game...what a game," at supper.

  • this play is a classic

  • Just needed to see and hear that again. Best Ever Husker play.

  • the huskers are the best...nuff said

  • HAHAHAHAHA...look at the drummer jumping around

  • The thing that really made this play wasn't Johnny Rodgers. It was the block at the 35 yard line at 00:15. The Oklahoma dude was gaining speed and he would have caught Johnny without a doubt. It was a tremendous block by the Nebraska dude. He never gets enough credit for this play.

  • Good eye. It was that block and the clip that may or may not have occured depending on what shade of crimson you most love. If you're an OU fan it was the most obvious clip since Teddy Roosevelt was head of the NCAA. If you're a UN fan then it was merely a good special teams play.

  • yea that was my uncle... Joe Blahak

  • No shit?!?!? Cool!

  • Soprisrb, that wasn't a clip no matter what side your on. The OU fans just have an excuse as to why they lost they game and so now they bitch and complain about it.

A clip is a block in the back, the OU guy whas hit in the side, not the back, so it is clearly not a clip, although it was a pivotal block.

  • Eh...I don't have a dog in the race so I try and look it from all angles. All I'll say is that, had that been a Raider blocking one of my beloved Broncos, I'd be screaming bloody murder. Had it been a Bronco blocking a Raider I'd have said, "Well, that's the game."

Therein my point lies. It's a borderline call.

  • I think that's a very honest take on the play.

  • when he makes that 90 degree turn at full speed... you only learn athletic ability like that at Omaha Tech High School.

    OTHS!!! Represent!!!

  • this was the greatest college football game ever played....no questions

  • Uh no....

  • name a better one

  • Tennessee vs. Florida St. 1998 National Championship.

  • you are fucking kidding me.

  • bteamballer ur an idiot talk wen uk somethin frazier was great but who won a heisman??? sure frazier may have been cheated out of it but who won the heisman....? exactly!

  • sorry to every body but tommie frazier was the greatest husker ever johnny was number 2

  • There will never, ever be another Johnny the Jet Rodgers. The most exciting college football player ever. imo

  • CLIP! 45 yard line. (I need to let it go!)

  • LOL

  • Fantastic!! Johnny Rodgers was one of those "do not adjust your TV" players. By that I mean that he, like Pele or Michael Jordan, had moves and grace that made you think there was something wrong with your set.

  • Lyle Bremser, the greatest college football announcer ever.

  • go #20!!!!!!!!

  • Nebraska WILL be back. BANK on it...just as the Tide will. Go Cornhuskers, Roll Tide Roll!!!

  • Holy shit! What a great call that was!!!

  • Man...what an athlete. Nebraska demolished my Tide 38-6 in 1971: payback for the whippings we gave them in the 60's.

  • Really intelligent response here. Its a good thing most people don't stoop down to your level of class.

  • Mighty tough behind your puter. Look at you now.

  • real classy..

  • best player ever to play the game!

  • i love watching these old clips

  • man women and child and put em in the islie

  • I've seen Johnny recently. He's really let himself go. The drugs the booze, a self-promoter.

  • i remember when he was huge~ got to see him leaping over other players. from the ground level in Lincoln.. was alotta fun.

  • Holy Moly!
