  • Crono + prisim specs + his rainbow or dreamseeker (his ultimate weapon in the ds version that maxs out his attack and has a 90% crit rate) + frenzy/confuse = ultimate physical damage of 1000+ per hit if his stats are maxed out

  • I love how there's logic to every single character that leaves the room before the fight EXCEPT for the judge and jury. The jury just stays there like "Yeah, whatever, fighting, explosions..." and the judge himself just sorta goes "POOF". Little details. =P

Also, in the fact the king runs without so much as a second glance back at his DAUGHTER to see if she's safe behind him or anything. And after that whole cholesterol incident. He's just wonderful in his roles as father and ruler, isn't he?

  • I feel a little bit of sadness, were getting close to the end

  • By getting the King to disown the Princess, the Chancellor destroyed the royal line. Otherwise, even if the King was usurped, rule would rightly fall to Marle.

  • Lmao! "Marle: no one cares. I'm just sticking her with whatever I had leftover." So funny! You made me crack up.

  • Why didn't Marle get the opportunity to save her mom (cure her or something) like Lucca had?

  • OoobjectiOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

  • Yakra loves to impersonate Chansellor

  • NOTE: The DS version has an even powerful sword for Chrono that has a Crit rate of 90%

  • Oh... Brave guards... One little girl barges in the courthouse and they run as if Armaggedon was comming... :P

  • in and out at will..! i usually went to the end of time to fight lavos.

  • Personally, I prefer to give Crono a suit of Nova Armor so I can swap his headgear between Haste Helm and Safe Helm as I see fit without worrying about status protection.

  • HCBailly - About the "capitalist" thing of the king being accused of selling the prism as a crime, it is ok to happen since the prism is a "kingdom's good" (don't know how to say it English, the thing is, it's not a personal object that belongs to the king, even if it were a family object it could be a crime since it's particularly the king's)! Thanks for the videos HCBailly, it really helps me playing the game! Hugs

  • ops, I meant "it could be a crime since it's NOT particularly the king's!

  • Exaclty. It's not as though Buckingham Palace is deeded to the Queen. It belongs to the kingdom, but as the royal family they get to use it in exchange for serving the kingdom.

That said, thanks for you antic HcBailly.

  • That's why they made it a national treasure, to ensure that noone would sell it in the 400 years it sat in storage.

  • I find it strange how intimate the royal family is in video games and stuff. Irl, often kings wouldn't even meet their children, and their children often never met one another. Like Elizabeth and her sister Mary. Did ya know they never even met in person, despite the media disinformation?

  • in the words of a very funny shoopuff driver: imposhibubbul! imposhibubbul!

man i love that froggy jar-jar binks in FFX

  • Well... the "royal treasure" could have been a mistranslation for "national treasure"

In which case he would have been doing something illegal.

He would have had to get permisson to sell it for his country's well being though.

  • the kings a crook but your an ugly blue 6 laged think of death

  • For a second, I thought that Rainbow was a weapon for Marle. I mean, think about it. Rain-bow.

  • @Aluminumkid plus that u get it by saving marles father and that u need marle to do this sidequest

  • WOW!! The Chancellor's speech bubbles were so great, and they were even funnier since I saw them in full screen!!!

  • The Chancellor's nuts. =p

  • Obviously, as other people here pointed out (including HC himself in the video), framing the king for selling the Rainbow Shell (as if it's a crime) is insane. What would have actually made sense, however, would be framing the king for the death of Queen Aliza, since her death was relatively recent at this point in the game. Of course, then it's hard to tie it into the Rainbow Shell, and you need the Shell so you can get that awesome equipment.

  • I think we are forgetting that this game was translated/ported over. The Japanese do have royalty. Maybe...maybe there is some sort of law in Japan that prohibits royalty from selling its treasury? I'm just playing around with the possibility. Who knows?

  • U're kinda right. The royalty in Japan cannot sell its royal treasures for own gain. They MUST share the money with the investments of the country in education, S&T, medicine, and others, seeing that is a parliamentary monarchy, just like in England. If they desobey it, becomes a crime, that can even end up a lineage, as we are seeing in CT.

  • Ah! Thanks for the info!

  • Selling royal treasures is nothing. Hell, Elizabeth sold business monopolies and almost all of the Stuarts sold titles to the gentry for quick cash.

"Crap, I need to fund a war, but I've bankrupted England yet again! I know, I'll just give the landowners with money to burn a title, for a price!"

Diluting the title-based stratification system is way more controversial than selling off a few trinkets in state coffers. Course, its hard to say when Japanese games are based of the European system.

  • He did it for the lulz

  • I always have Marle in my party for haste and healing purposes.

  • Frenzy Band is a great accessory to use. It lets you counter a lot.

  • could you emagine magus accually wearing the sun shades that would be pretty funny

  • Antipode 3 looks awesome. That and Luminare are my favorite techs. (Single and Double anyway)

  • and at this point I see Sideshow Bob's son...holding a big knife going "Vendetta...Vendetta para mi papa"

  • The chat bubbles you made cracked me up bad :D

  • there's the truth..(shakes head) and the TRUTH!! (smiles) god bless lionel hutz

  • you shuold have had a clip for 055 it would have been funny

  • OBJECTION!

  • Man, you know how to get damned powerful.

  • that makes sense lol, you can't sell the shell but you can destroy it and turn it into weapons ^_^.

  • 7:06 Ace Ventura when nature call reference. Gotta love it.

  • Hey, for your next LP, could you.. NOT Do FF7 and do Mother 3 instead? 8) I know you'd only have a few videos to do it in, but you'd really set the record straight... I'm pretty sure there has to be a LP of the english version in progress already, but best to nip it in the bud when ti comes up, right? <:3;;

AH well.. I'll look forward to whatever you do regardless 8)

  • Go watch chuggaaconroy's LP of it.

It's good and he's LPed the other 2 Mother games.

  • Well, I know that Poik007 did a playthrough of the original japanese as well-- but I just meant a new one of the translated.

  • Ya Chggaconroy is doing an LP for the translated one.

  • The Rainbow Shell was probably property of the Crown rather than King Guardia himself. As such, it would be considered theft if the monarch sold the item without the consent of the people. In other words, the shell is a possession of the nation, not the individual person.

  • Exactly. It would be akin to the American President selling the original Constitution and pocketing the proceeds.

  • I don't think it's a true monarchy, it seems like it has some blend of capitalism, and the rainbow shell was owned by the public. So when the king supposedly sold it and pocketed the profit, he effectively stole it from the public.

  • I care about Frog. :(

  • Wait how does time pass when your in other time periods

  • in a screwed up way

  • For Marle...well no one cares about.

    xD

  • LOL at the annotation. You should do more of those.

  • have u dona all sidequests?

  • are you ever going to be posting up a video of what you look like? I've always wondered what you looked like :P

  • Can someone tell me where that line is from again "There's the truth, and the TRUTH" I remember hearing that somewhere but can't remember where.

  • It's from the Simpsons. Lionel Huts if i remember right.

  • The chancellor is a communist! He hates simple acts of capitalism lol! Give the ladies some show time you say? This game is so cool!

  • I can't wait to see the next episodes! You're so close to the final boss, it can almost be tasted!!

  • Do you like Phoenix Wright, HCBailly?

  • Hey HCBailly, good video. I laughed out loud at the title.

Could you PM me with what emu you are using for this game? I'd really love to have this for myself...

  • The program he's using is called SNES9x.

  • Another excellent LP. I liked how you added the quotes in this one, made me laugh.

  • Are you going to charm tabs from the monsters on the black omen?

  • The rainbow shell may belong to the people of Guardia not the royal family of Guardia.

  • You know, I always wondered when that window Marle broke gets repaired....

  • I wonder when she'll be put on trial for causing the damages...

  • Water + Fire spell, oh my... So awesome! Also, Flare!! I love Father-Daughter relation moment! lol at the annotation! Alomst finally, the final stage!

  • I was so expecting some Phoenix Wright...

  • He tried, did you hear?

he kinda failed at it, tho. shoulda looked it up on youtube if he couldn't play it in a day. :P

  • these videos just keep getting better and better. i can't wait for tomorrows episode

  • You know, there could be so many jokes about Chrono's Rainbow sword, but I'll leave them alone.... because I can't think of any right now...

  • There is a flying thing that you can charm Gold Studs from :3

  • Awesome justice system.

    Run by demons.

    :)

  • HC, the people of 1000 AD are socialists.

  • c c c c c coment breaker!!!!!

  • The thing that always bothered me with that scene is when Yakra reveals himself, Marle's dad just runs out of the room and leaves her there.

  • lol.

  • Hmm, I wonder which period you're going to tackle the Black Omen in? In any case--I realize I ask a lot--but can you please show off that scene at the Black Omen in 2300 A.D.?

Also, I can just imagine you referring to Chrono Trigger when encountering Figaro Castle's chancellor in FFVI. ^_^

  • You can gain the most by starting in the latest time period and working back through the Omen in each previous one...

  • I was just thinking about showing the 2300 AD Black Omen today, so I'll definitely do that.

  • Gotta wonder if the Yakra line absorbed some of Lavos's DNA, as they seem to have a weaker version of his projectile attack.

The Chancellors must have a lot of contortionists in the family for them to be able to be squeezed into chests like that, lol.

Wow, sidequests over already? Sure goes a lot faster when all the redundant travel and grinding is edited out, heh. Looking forward to the epic final battles and the later addendum.

  • in sovjet chrono trigger, lavos absorbs your DNA.sorry put i just had too.

  • Thanks, Bailly, for letting me post my response :D

  • Personally, I farmed Magus's techs at Death Peak, and it made Black Omen a lot easier. Spaming Dark Matter FTW. Of corse, I only used Robo, Ayla, and Magus for the rest of the game...

  • Flare doesn't look as powerful as Antipode 3 because Flare is one of the techs involved in said dual tech.

  • You'd think they wouldn't fall for the fake chancellor trick twice; ah well. Very much looking forward to the Black Omen videos to come!

  • Aw, I forgot how sweet that whole "Daddy" scene was. Actually kinda got choked up. Jeez, I hate it when that happens!

  • Maybe it is a crime if he did sell it, considering the Rainbow Shell is a national treasure, so it's owner was actually the kingdom as a whole. So, the supposed merchant who bought it must be from Porre or Choras for the act to be considered a crime. Also, even if the merchant was from Truce, the Rainbow Shell will no longer be of public domain like it is suppose to be, and so, a crime is still done.

  • It shouldn't matter who the Rainbow Shell belongs to. Kings (especially back then) have absolute power, are immune to breaking the law, and could change them at will.

  • Until Crono's interference which created the Criminal Justice system answerable to the Chancellor and not the King.

  • I suppose that's the logic for the game. I'm just saying that irl, a king would have absolute power and answers to no one. Even without it, the rich still get a different brand of justice than everyone else to this day.

  • True that.

  • @HCBailly Constitutional monarchies, my friend. The king is limited by the will of the people. In this case, the king selling the Rainbow Shell would have been equivalent to, say, the President of the United States attempting to sell the Declaration of Independence.

  • @Shadohime I do 100% believe of what you said because, kings back then didnt even have unlimited power at all also, i believe of what @AcaciaSgt says as well because, anything that the king have at his possession is an part of the country that he rules over 'n' it belongs to the people that lives in his country that he rules as well so, even IF the king even trys to sell what belongs to the country 'n' its people as well he falls under the same rules/laws of his own country that he rules.

  • Re: the king selling his own treasure

most monarchical systems make/made a distinction between the king's private funds (the "privy purse"), and the financial assets of the whole kingdom. It would depend on the terms in which Guardia 600 AD kept the Rainbow Shell in trust ("for that spiky head mute and and his friends"?).

It was fun seeing Marle and her pops reconcile, but SOOOO many plot/logic holes in this side-quest made it hard to go down easy. No one checks the basement?

  • Obviously, the fake chancellor had the basement guarded so nobody could go in to look. (hence why they had to make up a freak injury for the guard in the way so you could get there when you needed to)

  • You should use annotations WAY more often!

    It was hilarious!

    Nice upload again HC!

  • You should use annotations a bit more often. Those quotes you placed on chancellor were funny (I've been stuck the ENTIRE GAME).

BTW, did you taught all of Magus's skills?

  • Magus is still quite short on learning Dark Matter. He'll start getting more show time, after he's fought the high Tech Point monsters in the Black Omen; especially during boss fights.

  • LOL!!! Annotations... That made my day...

  • I can't wait to play this game in 3 weeks when I get home. I'm looking forward to your secret of mana too, another classic gem from SNES.

  • Rofl at the real chancellors annotations! I wonder how long that fake chancellors been running the show.

  • You'd think the people in the courtroom would run the hell away once three ladies started blasting the crap out of a savage monster ^^

  • Id stay, it would probably make jury duty a HELL of a lot more inresting.
