There is no difference between the policies of Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Barack Obama. The policies and plans are already in place. They are paid for. I looked at the delegate count. If Gingrich and Paul stick around, this HAS to end in a brokered convention. There's no way Romney can get enough delegates for the nomination. Even if Gingrich didn't get Florida, there are many states coming up that Romney isn't going to get no matter what.
@ProLikeJesus3 Delegate wise, yes. He actually has a much higher chance at getting delegates than Santorum and Gingrich. Those two are both out about 500 delegates because they failed in New Hampshire(or Iowa as well inNewt's case) AND aren't even on the ballot in a few states(notably Virginia). For Santorum, it's impossible, for Newt, it's only possible if Mitt drops out(like that'll happen). For Paul it's highly possible depending on his exposure in the coming months.

Here's another explanation that Cenk didn't mention... Gallup's polls were conducted from Jan 25th to Jan 29th. Much of the shift back to Romney was just starting to heat up around Jan 25th and there's always a couple-day lag (takes a while for the bad press to spread). If Gallup conducted the same poll today, I bet Romney would be up. Another thing: a big Romney win in Florida will generate a lot of buzz and hurt Gingrich. I predict a new Gingrich slump -- this time a more durable one.

What if politicians weren't allowed to spend this obscene amount of money and they were all allowed an equal amount of time to make their case. Won't happen but it would be interesting to see who would win out. You'd get a better quality of candidate I would venture to suggest.
Studies have shown that the amount spent on elections by politicians does not cause the outcome. Rather it is the winning candidate that receives the most money.

@ProLikeJesus3 Delegate wise, yes. He actually has a much higher chance at getting delegates than Santorum and Gingrich. Those two are both out about 500 delegates because they failed in New Hampshire(or Iowa as well inNewt's case) AND aren't even on the ballot in a few states(notably Virginia). For Santorum, it's impossible, for Newt, it's only possible if Mitt drops out(like that'll happen). For Paul it's highly possible depending on his exposure in the coming months.

Here's another explanation that Cenk didn't mention... Gallup's polls were conducted from Jan 25th to Jan 29th. Much of the shift back to Romney was just starting to heat up around Jan 25th and there's always a couple-day lag (takes a while for the bad press to spread). If Gallup conducted the same poll today, I bet Romney would be up. Another thing: a big Romney win in Florida will generate a lot of buzz and hurt Gingrich. I predict a new Gingrich slump -- this time a more durable one.

@BecomingPtII Fun fact: In Norway we don't allow political ads on TV. But the more economic conservative parties are now pushing to change that rule, so it might unfortunately change in the future.

@sureup I think the mindset of the people is important. From what I've seen, the average American seems to be incredibly credulous. In the UK we have ads, but they aren't allowed many, it has to be preceded by someone informing you this is the political message of one party, and everyone pretty much thinks it's bullshit.

...Paul who IMO has lost the most with Citizens United as it is very likely that if they had to rely on the citizens and their limited minimum wage donations once a month would have wiped the floor with all the other Rep. candidates and we will never know who might have stepped up if the people were electing their representatives instead of corporate power.

What if politicians weren't allowed to spend this obscene amount of money and they were all allowed an equal amount of time to make their case. Won't happen but it would be interesting to see who would win out. You'd get a better quality of candidate I would venture to suggest.

Romney paid less than 14% tax on his income last financial year, so you certainly couldn't call him a patriot of any kind. Still; He's considerred more moderate than the other candidates, so maybe the fact that he's virtually assured to win the nomination isn't all bad. - Or rather: Its the least bad outcome where no good outcome is possible.
