Enjoyed that! I've only ever heard the song's tune played (in Trad. Jazz style), so it was really nice to hear the words for the first time. Thanks for posting.
Nikki Hornsby's (found on wikipedia) grand father recorded that song "I want a girl" as a member of the Bamby Baker Boys many years ago. It was sweet for her to see this performance. Now go to You Tube "Nikki Hornsby's" song to hear her (who is a grammy voting member) singing her original songs today.
Joan Davis was so full of life and she is still missed today nearly have a century after her death. Sadly she died of a heart attack while she was only in her early 50's.
Equally sad is that her mother and one of Joan's kids died in a fire accident at their home. Rest in Peace, Joan. We love you!
I loved Eddie Cantor and Joan Davis. During World War 2 I remember seeing Joan Davis in a movie frying 2 eggs in a pan. When she looks at them they look just like 2 eyes looking up at her and she gets spooked like only Joan Davis could. I was too young at the time to remember the movie title. Does it ring a bell with anyone? I would LOVE to see that movie again if anyone could tell me the title.
The movie is called "Show Business" Canton and Davis make the entire movie. They're hysterical in it! Haven't seen it in ages. I'm sure it pops up on TCM from time to time.
I love this number! This one and "Dinah" are my favorites from the dozen or so great songs in "Show Business", a charming and very funny movie. I think that Joan Davis is the funniest woman in movies. She steals this movie, stock, lock and barrel. She, her three charming co-stars and all those wonderful songs from days gone by, make "Show Business" a real treat.
This is a pearl!

You know this is the only movie of Eddie's that I have not seen. He's older and still pretty cute.
