Florian Schneider's live rack from 1981

i can spot only EMS 5000 and Sehnheiser VSM-201, neither EMS 3000

    nor any other vocoders here

  • @BigLesbowski Where's the Sennheiser? I only can spot the EMS 5000!! Anyway this says they used these vocoders including the EMS 3000 kraftwerkfaq.hu/equipment.html#vocoder "The following vocoders have been used by Kraftwerk:

    - Roland SVC-350

    - Roland VP-330

    - Sennheiser VSM-201

    - EMS 2000/3000/5000 series

    - Synton 221 (unconfirmed)". Despite the fact that only the EMS 5000 is in that photo (I don't see the Sennheiser VSM201) and knowing that they used both the EMS 5000 and the...

  • @BigLesbowski Thanks!!

  • @BigLesbowski ...the Sennheiser for 'The Man Machine' album...I still maintain that this IS the 3000 on this album 'Computer World' and the 5000 is used for 'The Man Machine' songs along the Sennheiser. Even though this is 'The Computer World Tour' they're still going to do songs from their other albums or the concert would only be forty-five minutes long (give or take). Again I see the 5000 in this photo flickr.com/photos/keepwerking/3447163302/in/set-72157616728929953/lightbox...

  • @BigLesbowski ...but not the Sennheiser. So the 5000 is used for 'The Man Machine' song "The Robots" and the Sennheiser VSM201 is used for "Spacelab" and "The Man Machine". And for 'Computer World' I still say it's the 3000 for "Computer World" and the Sennheiser for (an) other(s). I'll have to listen to know which song contain the Senn and which the EMS. And just because it's (the 3000) not in that photo DOESN'T mean that they didn't use it for this song!!! Again I still say it...

  • @BigLesbowski ...IS!!! Also if you go to this site...technopop-archive. com/data_setup.php and scroll-down to "80 Years" (which would include 1981) you'll see EMS Rehberg which makes the 3000. emsrehberg. de and emsrehberg. de/Vocoder3000/vocoder_3000.html NOTICE how they mention Kraftwerk as one of their buyers?? So unless someone (from Kraftwerk or a relative) can prove this is not the 3000 (and a tour photo isn't proof in my book) it's the 3000 in my book, or imho!!!

  • my alltime favourite since my 2 years

  • I bought it on vinyl. Great!!!!

  • @progpunker I also have it on vinyl BUT I do not have a vinyl-player. This is taken from a blog or music-site in which the original uploader obviously uploaded this from a vinyl-player. You can hear the pops and clicks which lets you know that this is indeed from vinyl.

  • @VoiceEncoder You win a cookie for pointing out the obvious :P. Just kidding.. good ears

  • @progpunker Me too!

  • Sounds very strange. what did you do with the sound?

  • @technik56 What do you mean?? One can obviously tell that this was taken from a vinyl recording cause you can hear the pops and clicks. I don't remember where I got this from.
