South Koreans still using M48!!! i just feel so sorry for them, as a rich country they should have much better than 50 years old tank, no wonder then why North Korean's army with soviet junk from 60s'-50's can bully them.
@Tihamah3 It's a highly modernised tank, much like the Soviet T-62s and T-72s. Periodically they slap new pannells guns, engines, and other parts on it to keep it competitive. It'store it's outdated, but don't forget modernized Sherman's annihilated Soviet T-55 tanks during the wars between Israel and it's neighbors.
@XxxSakura101 i know it is modernised but still suck, with South Korea industrial and economical ability they should have some thing much better than that.
@dlxowns322 yes i forgot they have K1 tanks, K2 is not in production yet, how ever i doubt it will be better than Abrams or Leopard any time soon.
but still most of thier tanks are Patton & M60 & K1, ROK should have some thing better, but they are not spending much on defence because they are relying on the US protection for now, so i understand why they are keeping this stone age weapons.
Great to meet someone who is actually wise on the topic of conversation. And to the guy who said the M1A1 was designed in 70s, it was actually 80s, early 90s.
@poopersnoops M1A1 was not the design of 90's. M1was late 70's after the project MBT-70 failed, but M1A1 was 80's. In 1991 M1A1 already participated in Gulf War.
Thanks for the video and the memories. I trained on an M48 at Ft. Knox in 1970. Helluva machine for the technology at the time. Loved seeing those 90mm rounds go down range especially during night fire!
@grantourismo0109 The Pattons were used in the gap between the Korean Conflict and through Vietnam. The one I was assigned to was replaced by the M-60 in the early 70's then armor vehicles started getting really high tech. I still miss the old days of analog gauges and no computers on the tanks though.
Korean M48A3? In Greece we still have about 390 M48A5 MOLF.

The M-36 was a tank destroyer and not a tank.

A M48 might be old buts its better than no tank, in the last war the ROK fought they had no tanks at the start of the conflict.

@Tihamah3 They do have much better tanks than this...
Search for K1 and K2 tanks. K1 by itself can fight against 10 North Korean tanks and win and K2 equals Leopard and M1A1 in its performance.

The M-26 Pershing tank that came out late in WWll was the first tank to be fitted with a 90mm gun.
isuckaman 10 months ago
@isuckaman Incorrect, the first fighting vehicle that had a 90mm in the US army was the M36.

@ResiusOnline no, the Abrams was developed in the mid 1970s, after the Americans had pulled out of Vietnam.
