Covenant es una banda que tiene la capacidad de plasmar ese sentimiento de frialdad y seriedad en su musica de forma magistral!!!! Solo para almas elevadas, Señores de la electronica! Maestro de maestros! united states of mind!
But of course this was bound to be epic by default. You just can't fuck with Balderunner & Covenant! But they might fuck up the Bladerunner sequel if that ever gets into production, let's see. - Black eyes full of stars, wide with memories!!!
These guys got played constantly at the club I used to go to. I always thought they were like some kind of Depeche Mode cover band. I just happened to run across this video - had no idea who they were until today.
Me too ;) Been years though since I've seen em play. Last time I saw them was probably around 10 years ago at Limelight in NYC.. It was them and And One. Great Show!
first time i heard of them was playing project gotham racing 3 and was the song 20Hz i had to pause the game and listen waiting for modern ruin to hit my postbox now !
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain." - Blade Runner
@yukifujita That's one of the most profound and beautiful quotes I'd ever heard... Blade Runner was a great movie, greater than the recent movies I've seen.
Takes me back to the early 2000 years going to Industrial-gothic nightclubs here in southern Ca/LA-Hollywood area(not really played anymore during last 5 years, but it'll get people on the dancefloor).
Der Leiermann is a german poem that Covenant sang to the tune of Like tears in rain ergo the music to Der Leiermann is exactly the same as the music in Like tears in rain
@Nibe06 You should check out the album. I was a music journalist at the time, and was embarrassed that no other band of this style could match up to it.
Ja right, I am having a 'debate' with someone that listened to max 3 bands of EBM hahah Your musical 'education' is surely in another direction. As about good sense, your 40 years education in it, they surely failed. When your arguments are over, you try to use your age like a shield. 40 years of ellucubrating are even worse :) First listen to this music, and only after - write down opinions on the walls. You remind me an aphonous guy humming Bach but feeling cultured as hell in his pathetism:)
This debate over 'resembling' bands is denotes a juvenile pattern both in thinking, instincts AND musical education. For me, it's like an aphonous telling my (EBM) music is all sounding as Depeche Mode. There is no comparison between Covenant and Apoptygma (which I used to like to, before its 'muse'-alistik metamorphosis), neither between Covenant and VNV. Simply put, Covenant can't be compared to anything you ever met. Dot. And comparing anyway acts among themselves is an obscene gesture IMHO.
Actually, there are grounds for comparative observation. I should hardly think it juvenile or obscene. It is merely a matter of using one example as a descriptive medium for the overall sense of another.
Example: "If you like Covenant, you might like VNV Nation as well. Give them a try."
Fear of, or resistance to, descriptive categorization of relative data, only serves to make one less efficient in the communication of a concept.
Though, it seems you want to be this time "efficient in the communication of a concept" called artistic statement. And you have the urge of a "descriptive categorization of relative data" named ART. Therefore, I can go now make an algorithm comparing the bands in your debate hahaha
As about your example, it denotes lack of musical education and good sense :) First, you disregard the bands as having stand alone concepts and unique personalities. And second, you sound as teaching on youtube "EBM music in 14 minutes" or "music for newbies" through your (sorry but) lame "musical" associations. Bye for now "teacher" of "musical general culture". Ah, and just for your future elucubraciones: Covenant are not even into EBM, and eventually pissed off by this categorization.
I have almost 40 years of musical education and good sense, thank you.
I did not disregard the bands each being able to stand on their own feet, I merely pointed out they have similarities to be ackowledged as well. In layman's terms "word of mouth" is how most bands gain listeners and that often includes an element of comparison. It does not matter one bit what a band itself thinks of those comparisons, they will occur regardless.
As to your own elucubraciones: You came on and threw a phrase like "juvenile pattern both in thinking, instincts AND musical education" at people you've never met for making obvious comparisons.. you expect maybe they won't notice you are juvenile in your own right? Pretentious little kid, aren't you? Stomp your feet, piss & moan, scream at they sky all you want. You've failed to notice that you've become part of the debate you called others juvenile for. Glad I could aid in your self discovery.
You claimed the original debate was juvenile. I pointed out you were taking part in said debate. You respond in a fashion even more juvenile than before. It's obvious that a) The original debate was not as juvenile as you would have others believe, or b) you are being willfully juvenile by definition of your own words. I'd say both at this point. Your assumptions are childish, foundless and only designed to boost your weak self esteem by attempting to degrade others.
You're still talking? I get it.. you're one of those kids that thinks the last word means you're the "winner". OK, you post after this and I promise I'll let you be the last. I don't need it. I won't even look at what you post. GUARANTEED. Just to let you know though, your word of the day calendar has more than one page. If you can learn to turn them, you won't be stuck using the same tired word on almost every post you make. Funny how your dependence on it shows how well you fit it's definition
