I do agree that Fundamentalism in all it's forms is terrible and that forcing your beliefs on others under threat of persecution is something that be fought at all costs.
Religion is ignorance masquerading as certanty.Endless opportunities for all manner of horrors when that kind of claptrap's poured into the minds of the weak and gulible.
I've seen atheists behaving exactly the same way as religious maniacs. I bet you're thinking "no you haven't" without even checking it for yourselves. An extreme example: the Inquistion tortured & killed hundreds for disagreeing with the Catholic church and we all now condemn it. Soviet Union leaders tortured & killed MILLIONS for not being atheists. China has done the same & still is. Hitler was inspired to killing sick children by the theory of evolution. Check it for yourselves.
@ExtremeWorship Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Inquisition was Catholic, thus they are not atheists. Good point about Soviet Union, can't really argue that, but you don't see that anywhere else. Many people where inspired by the Bible to do evil things too (can't think of a good example, a bad one: crusades).
@ExtremeWorship With a name like extremeworship how do you expect us to take you seriously LOL. When Atheist behave badly, it's because they are naturally dicks. When Religious maniacs behave badly, they feel justified because they're religion tells them so. In fact, they could go a lot farther than an average person would because they're religion pushes it farther. "Death to the infidels."
It is really easy to solve. Start loving everyone. It is as simple as that. The only reason you have extremism, regardless of whether it is Islamic or Christian or Hindu or anything else is because people feel disenfranchised from acceptance. They are not accepted. Love, accept everyone and you will have no extremism. There is no room for extremism when everyone is appreciated, loved, and provided an opportunity, the same equal opportunity for love that everyone else is provided. -The Wonders
The other aspect is that using weapons to faith against what they called terrorism ( i do believe that terrorism must be defined by lawyers and psychologists not by politicians) is proven to be counterproductive simply because there is no clearly defined target on the war against terrorism in the way that was leaded , and its a complete negligence of the facts on the ground.
the second way of treatment and this is a more difficult way for western government to accept is to help the peoples in Muslim countries to change their dictatorial and corrupted governments instead to support and protect them.(continue)
.I believe that the way to deal with the question is to recognise first and support second the moderate islamic elite and thinkers because they are the ones who can really influence and change mentalities in a way to reduce this fundamentalisme to a non efficient level( we can not erase religion fundamentalisme totally in any society , so the aime is to minimise the effect). (continue)
.the second wrong approche is to consider all islamic religiousness as a fundamentalisme which mean considering islam as a problem itself and then trying to change the religion itself.(continue)
I do believe that until now the approche by western governments to deal with the issue of islamic fundamentalism was wrong, because they refuse to see the socio-politic causis of this probleme and they just put pressure on the governments which are a part of the problem itself.which mean that these governement are arising more fundamentalisme in that regions
Great point! In fact, I think people should be more critical of religions. We should scrutinize them and expose them for the fairy tales they are.
I believe the word tolerance is used far too loosely with regards to religious matters. There should be no limits on our abilities to discuss the irrationality of faith and the word tolerance should only be used in cases where people's rights are discriminated against.
The CIA and its friends promote Christian, Hindu and Moslem fundamentalism, in order to control people. Reportedly, the Muslim Brotherhood was used by MI6 and the CIA to topple the Aytatollahs.
