  • LMAO 1:13,nice vid.

  • If Its Not An Actual Fact Get Proof that it stunts your growth an stop with negative comments about this man!! He doesnt even

have to waist his time showing People These Great Tips!

  • im 16 and im into weightlifting. It doesnt matter when you start working out.

  • yes it does. if you work out too early you won't grow like you're supposed to.

  • thats an old wivestale. I annoys me people still think that.

  • Bro.

    it doesnt stunt your growth.

  • arnie grw to 6ft 2 inches, started training at 14

    nuff said

  • whhahahaha lol

  • He likes hats? And happy its f'in sunny outside during the video

  • how early/old should i start working out

  • If you hit puberty you are good to go basically just becareful on your early years. strict form+ diet if you want to be was lean as you can in your teen years

  • When you are at the age of 16.

  • iv donated $100 000 hope it helps keep this info comming

  • he'll beat your ass down while wearing that gay hat bitch!

  • how many sets is enough and how many reps

  • this bloke knows what he is onabout. i own a gym and what he says is true..

  • What if I dont have a pullup bar tho? You say pullups are the best can someone reply to me. I'd hate to be skipping a important part if barbells arent good enough.

  • try doing pullups on the arm of a grandparent or younger sibling.

  • i know, i dont have anything either, so i struggle with my barbel which is on this safety support thing so it isnt by its own.

anyone know anything to help us both

  • turn your palms out and theyll work better

  • i love your videos very helpful i will make sure to donate money to your website

  • damnit i cant do this i herniated 2 disc in my lower back :(

  • thanks for this. Now I dont feel stupid working out at home

  • Ya gotta love that hat!

  • extremely helpful thank you

  • The problem is that there is not time to do all these exercises. If you are working out once every 5-7 days as to not overtrain, you can not endure all these in one day. If you do them on different days you overtrain amny of the same muscles that are used.

  • Lol cat chasing scene, thanks for the video man.

  • This guy's technique is totally wrong. Your supposed to slightly bend your knees and keep your back straight but at about a 45 degree angle.

  • I think he is doing a different version? The one you are talking about is called bent barbell rows or something like that.

  • Well the exercise in concept is the same as it is meant to target the same back area. Its bent over rows done with a straight stiff back and straight stiff legs. That leaves more strain on your body then is needed. Not only will you find it uncomfortable but you are also using a less effective range of motion.

  • Yeah i feel weird doing straight barbell rows. I stick to bent

  • I think he knows what he's doin

  • ow ur talking about a different type forgot the name but its different

    what hes shoing is different

  • Is it possible to do this with 2 dumbells?

  • Yes, these are Barbell Rows. You can do Dumbell Rows using two dumbells.

  • Mr. Scooby, thank you so much for the videos. They are so helpful to me. Especially the vacation ones. I have two young boys and always at Disney or Nickelodeon. I'm 44 years old, 6'1, 205 pounds. Need to work on getting a six pack abs. V-shape. I'll be doing more pull-ups and sit-ups for sure.

    Thank you,

    Coach, Donnie

  • awesome video man, thanks for filming!

  • how come you dont bend your knees? also any tips on keeping my back straight on this exercise?

  • i hope you do something to protect your lower back.perhaps soften your knees.

  • What's up with his hat...?

  • im 17 and have been doing rigerous weight lifting for three years. i would like to comend you on stressing the importance of perfect form . i cant recall how many times ive seen someone hurt themselved espescially their back d too lack of experience and form. anyways my question was what is your diet? do you follow the new 6-meal a day routine or eat three times a day?

  • i commend you for bringing up perfect form.

most people our age disregard it at look like retards when they are injured.

    congrats

  • I'm an experienced weightlifter and watching these helps me even. You demonstrate PERFECT form. I totally agree with your emphasis on technique too. Great videos!

  • I think ur brilliant mate.

U make everything very understandable buy repeating what you say. Your demo's of what not to do are also great *****

  • You can do this motion supported on a bench and save yourself a ton of injury.

  • You will have to make a video illustrating this, it sounds more dangerous to me.

  • Dude, you're wayyyy too comfortable being "bent over" describing this excercise, Why not mention that you are training more than just latisimus dorsi? likc the rhomboids? teres major/minor? posterior delts??? The Back is comprised of many anagonistic muscles to assist in pulling. also you could mention that you can do this motion supported on an incline bench and save yourself alot of time. good luck in and stay fit.

  • ur doing good work scooby thanks.

  • fuck ur baby weights fucking asshole!!

  • HAHA, look at the size of him..If I was that big from using weights that small id be prtty happy.

  • dont be mad cuz hes bigger than you

  • hey scooby, i would like to be a bit bigger, however, i am a vegetarian and its really hard for me to get the size i want, i think im fairly strong...i used to train in a stadium and i used to was used to being pushed while exercising, what routine can i use to get back to my size and strenght?? i appreciate it alo, thanks

  • Eat more.

  • If you want size and strength, you need to do some hardcore lifting. Get yourself a used set of dumbbells and follow one of the workout plans on my website. Optimal is 1hr of intense lifting a day, five days a week. Being a vegetarian is no hindrance whatsoever if you are willing to use whey. I eat almost no fish/beef/chicken/meat.

  • are pull ups chin ups? where u pull urself up from a hanging position?

  • Hi Scooby love your videos really helped me alot im 15 this year and started body building when i was 13 your videos really helped me alot and i have a nice built right now

  • why are your shorts so short and i love pullups! i have a bar in my doorway to my workout room i can do 50 at one time how many can you doo scooby dooby dooo?!

  • i'm 18 yo and i have so nice muscles because i'm working a lot but i would like to gain some muscular mass. I just can't gain some weight and i eat a lot. Should i try to take powders or stuff like that ? if yes, could give tell me what kind of powder please. Thank You nice videos you got here really helpfull ;)

  • Scooby, sorry to bother you. But thank you for your video help on all of those workouts. I also have a question. Im 15. About 130 pounds. I bench 230. Squat around 325 i think. I bodybuild NATURALLY. Would it be ok for me to take a low-dose creatine? or something like that? Reply if you will please. Thank You

  • I'm not a fan of creatine or any other supplements. See my website under Nutrition>Supplements to see why. The one exeption is protein powder which can be very important for vegetarian BBers like me, for people who eat meat, its not nearly as impt.

  • Great job you're doing here, been training at home for about a year and a half now, been figuring out most of the stuff you're telling by now, but it still helps. Subscribers +1!

  • SCOOBY1961 KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MAN

  • at age 47 do u have the need 4 hormone replanesment therapy?

  • Hi Scooby,

While doing barbell rows for lats. Should i wear a weight lifting belt?

  • you are awesome my friend

keep up with the videos they really help :D

  • If you do seated rowing instead you're not as likely to injure your back. Bent barbell rows are really sketchy. A combination of seated rowing, dumbbell rows and hyper extensions will, along with heavy squats, will give you all the thickness you need.

  • ahaha the yell you did at the start made me laugh :)

    the "AHHH"

  • If you don't have lower back problems now, you probably will after doing this exercise.

  • hey scooby, I am a 19 year old male, have been working out for almost 3 years now, but years ago when I was a kid, I was overweight. But after I have started training, I have begun to gain muscle. besides this, I cant seem to loose alot of the fat I absorbed from my childhood years. If I combine some cardio before my workouts, do you think I will be able to get into shape?

  • yo, that is a real man, man.

  • cool, but I have to mention that the pull up uses the vertical plane (torso positioned upright) while the row horizintal (torso positioned horizontally) so the 2 are slightly different. The pull up (overhand grip) will hit the lats all lot more than the row which will encourage overall back thickness.

  • Hey dirtrail,

Yes, pullups and dumbbell rows are VERY different. For some reason people think one can be a substitute for the other, it cant. You need to do both but if you can only do one I would definitely do the pullup.

  • woah his tank ! lol

  • Love people who have a real passion! Cool hat too..:-)

  • i love your workout hat!Gotta get one myself for when im working out :)

  • A great vid as always :D

  • How's your airplane construction going?

  • Hey Scooby1961!,

I'm a 31 year old Male from Germany and think your Vids. are great.

My Question to you is:What other good Workout could you advice me to do for Chest? besides the Pushups!.

I just started my Workouts again after a longtime of rest :-D

    greetz from Germany :-)

  • Hey soulsinger30,

Dumbbell flys are my favorite chest exercise. Between pushups and flys, that can be a complete, intense chest workout. Check out my video titled "Killer Chest Workout"

  • Great tips, now where do you get the steroids?

  • I consider that a compliment that you are even suggesting that! I've been lifting for 25 years without break. Most of my gains were in the first 15 years, my weight has been very stable at 235lbs for the last 7 years. If I were doing steroids, I should demand my money back :)

Check out my website and you will see that I'm into health and fitness, steroids are not a part of that.

  • Thanks for that

  • haha 1:11-12. awesome.

  • great video scooby

  • I was wondering if you could do a video showing some lower back workouts. I am a huge sloucher, so I have a very weak lower back.

    PS:

Thanks for the shoulder and chest videos, I am putting them to good use!

  • He sounds like Pretty Boy Ralph from Shallow Hal.

  • thanks for the video

  • Holy shit,gilligan on steroids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brilliant!

  • lmao!!

  • I JUST WANT TO ASK ONE QUESTION ..IS IT OK TO DO ONE MUSCLE A DAY??? FOR EXAMPLE BACK/MON SHOULDERS/TUE etc... WAT DO U THINK?? i go gym 5 days a week

  • thats what i do. mon/free weights chest tue/shoulder wen/back an abd thur/arms fri/ bar chest

  • how long dose ur dayily work out go for?? juss curious, iv been going gym for about 4 or 5 weeks, im 17 by the way, dont get me rong iv been workin out at home..and do u think i should be doin one bodypart a day??

  • more like one group of muscles per day.

one day do legs, the next do upper body or just back or just front and the next day do core (middle, not just abs).

  • Hey connexwolf,

Depends on how long you have been lifting. Please check on my website under Plans>HomeWOrkoutBasics

  • OMG!! U are one sexy beast!!!

  • from his voice you can tell he takes steroids.

  • why u say so? caz his voice is deep?

  • no luxky, holdin your breath is BAD! even if you think it helps your 1 rep, you wont be able to do the rest. And thank you scooby, i went to your website but i still have questions. I have been lifting for about 7? months and wonder: do you always get sore after workouts? because after a while i stopped getting sore. You said on your website that heavy lifting (1 rep) was bad to do often. Is 1 week out of a month and 1/2 doing too much? thanks again for your great info.

  • ty! but holding ur breath it actually help to push.

  • You sound a bit like a bafoon, but I'm sure you know your stuff with weight lifting. You just don't come off well on the camera. Work on the delivery and you'll be right there.

  • Hey r32adt3db,

I never claimed to be an actor! Ya get what you pay for and this is free :)

  • thank scooby! question: can i do these without the hat that makes me look like im an idiot?

  • lats? wth? should i have it?

  • LATisimus dorsi, a muscle on ur back lol i been thru anatomy and physiology

  • wtf is a lat

  • thnx scooby my lats r coming allong with my diapers(pull-ups) lol just kiding. but how come it feels like ur working out your shoulders and not ur lats?

  • your so cool, i love your videos

  • Hey scooby,

I absolutely love your videos. You're so smart. I have a question for you though. I'm still in middle school, and starting boxing, and I want to become fit. Your exercises look really good, but do you recommend any of them in particular to someone in my age range?

  • don't become a gym kid and go all weights. For your age you should stick to body weight workouts.

  • I'm sorry that was rude... you seem like a really nice guy... ahem :\

  • I am officially creeped out...

  • hahah the way u talk is too funny

  • Subscribed.

  • Thanks for all the videos Scooby, they've helped alot. I just have one question for you. What are your views on creatine?? Thanks.

  • you are the best

  • thanks scooby.

  • Hey Scooby

For a person of 15 years of age My finger joints have been acheing me like crazy since I have been doing squats, lunges, and calve excercises while holding the dumbells. do you have any tips ?

  • yes this exercise can be hard on the lower back so it is advisable to bend the knees slightly

  • anyway the video is good

  • ha-ha-ha...hilarious.

Check 0:51, the guy looks like a horse...lol

  • nice hat what a study =D

  • does this guy have a life

  • hahaha

    dont be mean

but I GOTTA ADMIT ur comment was funny

    lol

  • sure does,

  • Hey connorcraven,

I suppose I could bundle my info into a pay-for-use website or a slick DVD and make money off fitness like everyone else :)

  • 6-8 reps means doing row 6-8 times or doing a certain number of rows 6-8 times?

    someone help...

  • futbolking -

Rep is short for repetitions, so 6-8 reps would be doing the movement he is showing 6-8 times in a row. If you did 6-8 reps 3 separate times, you would be doing "3 sets of 6-8 reps".

  • I should have explained that in the video. I try to use everyday language and avoid bodybuilding lingo but 'reps' slipped out :(

  • wish138 thanks for explaining it,

and scooby1961 it's not much of a problem I found the answer after doing some google searches.

  • hey scoop, could you tell me how to e-mail u if i ever have questions? i can't seem to find it on your website

  • I have the exact same nike shorts LOL

  • That was hilarious with the cartoon noises. :D

  • hey scooby does this actually make your back wider into a v shape because thats waht im aiming for!!!!:)

  • Scooby, great vids man. I've been bodybuilding for about 6 years now, and I feel like I'm fairly well-read and somewhat experienced on the subject, but I've learned a lot of great info from your vids. I've noticed that most of your videos are on exercise and proper form, which is great, but how about some videos on diet and proper nutrition? I feel like that makes as big of a difference, if not more of a difference, in building a great physique. Would you agree?

  • Hey PrimeTimeKlein,

You are 100% correct! Nutrition is VERY important and in fact, you are wasting your time lifting weights if you skip breakfast and eat lunch and dinner at fast food restaurants.

I'm not quite sure how I could do a video on nutrition without it causing people to fall asleep and wake up with keyboard-face.

  • True, it would be a challenge, but I liked your short video on the protein shake, so it might be worth a shot. Here is an idea...go over some good pre-workout and post-workout nutrition options that will help optimize the gains from the workouts you've been teaching. If that goes over well, you could expand to a hypothetical "day of good nutrition" and talk about what you eat, and don't eat. Just an idea, either way keep up the great work man, I wish this was around when I started lifting...

  • great video scoob.

  • scooby, your chest is very nicely developed, can i get a chest like that by just doing push ups alone?

  • I'd have to say no....

  • Weight lifiting is a narcisistic form of masturbation.

  • huh i dun d3t it?//?

  • Hey gr3atkhali,

Remember, I've been working out for 25 years. Pushups are just one portion of a good chest program and its unlikely you could get massive doing pushups alone.

  • since its your first time working on pulls, its normal for your forearms to ache, you're working the muscles necessary for pulling, rest until you feel better, then do it again! =)

  • Nice vid once again Scooby.

Not sure if anyone can help me out here.. I'm just starting and trying to do pullups. I can maybe manage 1 rep, but most of the time I just do negative reps. Problem is, I'm not sure if its really hitting my lats, as the next day my forearms ache more than my back! Can anyone give me some tips as to how to do a pullup properly? I've heard you need to press your shoulderblades together? I don't really know what 'flexing' your lats feels like. Many thanks!

  • hey scooby, i hope you see my comment, i have been working out for 4 months or so now, i was really motivated at first, but as time has gone by i noticed that my left part of the body is stronger than my right one, my biceps, triceps, chest are bigger than the other side, its not so obvious to the unnaware eye, but as soon as i mention it to someone its really obvious, am i doing exercises wrong? what should i do? quit or keep on working out.. i dont wana look like a freak. awesome videos ur n1!

  • Dont worry about symmetry, very few people have left sides that match their right sides - not even pro bodybuilders or models. You will notice that when models/BBs freeform pose, they rarely present square-on symmetrical poses and thats because by doing that you would see their asymmetry.

I would continue to work things out evenly, free weights are better than machines because with machines you can cheat and let the dominant side lift more weight than the weak side.

  • Hey Scooby, thanx for that great video. Funny and unique as always. One question for you: Each time I workout lats or general back I workout my arms as well. OMG, I feel sore in my arms rather than my back after a pull up workout! I know it sounds peculiar, but the result is that I have big arms in comparison to the rest of the body. How can I lose muscle? Is there an general back exercise that can be executed without training the arms? Thanks!

  • Hey milk0tube,

Very few people ask for ways to lose muscle in their arms :) One of the reasons that pullups are such a great upper body exercise is that they hit both lats and biceps hard.

Yes, almost all lat exercises work the bicep as well. There is one way you can do lats without using the biceps at all. Check out my website under Exercises>BackExercises and scroll to the bottom of the page. I show how to do lat exercises with an injured wrist/elbow - this method is 100% lats 0% biceps

  • hi scooby, have you ever considered to make a video about left & right crunches? Your photos are good, but they do not really show the right way of the movement. thanks a lot

  • good vid

your well in shape has to be said

  • Hi, thanx for the videos. Can u show us some exercises for lower back? Thanx.

  • lol in the vids his garden looks calm

  • I respect your opinions, but Dorian Yates does it differently

  • Hey ItalianWarrior777,

As in all things in life, there can be more than one correct answer. I try to steer people into a good basic form that will let them have excellent gains without getting injured. Dorian Gates (and other pro BBs) have completely different goals. They are willing to risk all for that last 5% gain. Compare Dorian's lats to my pathetic lats and you will see that HE is the expert on building massive lats, not me :) On the other hand, look at his injury history ...

  • In all fairness, your physique is very impressive, especially considering you are drug-free,(or at least you claim to be) you are big and incredibly ripped. Natural guys like me and my friends learn from you

  • You are a funny guy! ;)

I liked the mosquito sound in the beginning

  • two questions:

    1. why are you not bending your knees, at least a little bit?

2.don't you have to pull the bladebones together?you Know`? for the muscles betweeen them? i dont know the englich word.

  • haha your awsum dude

  • Most times when i go to the gym i try and work on my Delts but im not getting any noticable changes. Have you got any videos on Delt workouts if so please can you show me, on the other hand if u havent please could you make a super set workout for this area of the body ( Top of the arms / shoulders )

    Thanking you

  • Hey DJKING360,

I really need to redo all my shoulder exercise videos, they are old and my pathetic first attempts at videos.

  • 2:09 was hilarious. Nice video as alaways, scooby

  • press "machine" (where the machine controls the weight).

Any help from you would be grealty appreciated.. I really want to see some results (not in a month, but in 2-3 months).

  • Hey bleh17,

You might see some minor strength gains in 3 months but you wont see any changes in the mirror, bodybuilding is longer term than that.

If you want dramatic changes in 3 months that friends drop their jaw then drop your bodyfat down to 6% thru nutrition and cardio.

  • Hey Scooby,

Do you have a routine for a week for people (like me) that are starting out and want a full body workout (I can go 3 times a week, do Badminton 2 hours and Squash 1 hour a week). I just want to define not really build muscle... Got any full routines I can do at my gym (they don't really have much machines / stuff). Basicly barbells, dumbells, benches, machine for hyperextensions, incline bench, bench

  • definition is a question of fat in your body!!

but of course it looks better with some meat on the bones!^^

  • Hey bleh17,

Yes I do. Check out my website under Plans>BeginningHomeWorkout . I dont list any machine exercises because I focus on home workouts but you could improvise.

  • just go to his website, he has routines there.

  • Scooby, when I try to do pull-ups, I get a pain in my right shoulder joint. I'm not a heavy guy, about 175-180, and I see guys much heavier than me doing pull ups no problem. I can only do about 6 or 7 until my joint starts to hurt. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Could be you are heavy and not strong enough... Try working out your arm before doing push ups i guess

  • Hey MediaGold,

Unless you are jerking, swining, or bouncing its tough to do pullups wrong. You need to experiment and find a different grip or hand spacing that will keep your shoulder from hurting or you will have to see a doctor (or just stop doing them).

  • Haha good jokes :P

Thanks for all the help your site and videos have given to me. I'm new to bodybuilding, I'm 19, weigh 58kg, and I've been doing it for 2 months. I'm a little bit bigger, and much stronger!

I have a question for you, I go to the gym 4 times a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Is this a bad idea? Should I instead go 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday? I do the same workout every time, but I'm never sore the next day. And my weights aren't too light!

  • Hey levymetal,

Congratulations on sticking with it 2 months, you are probably hooked for life now :)

Dont worry about getting sore at this point, it can take a year or so to train so intensely that you get sore.

If you are slowly getting stronger, then keep on doing what you are doing. If not, then you need to change your routine. In 2-4 months you will need to change to a workout plan similar to my Plans>IntermediateWorkoutPlan on my website.

  • Thanks for another great vid

  • Love your videos, Scooby! Keep educating the world! And it's fun to see your great physique in action.

  • Yo Scooby, please accent my friend invite... I have a couple of pointers to ask you.

  • so sexy and helpful too !

  • You have an awesome hat man!
