Nice lady, but that was a complete waste of my time. I accidentally grew a water melon in an old plastic nursery pot. Not planned, I was just too lazy to clean the place up. I was happy it didn't crawl in my bed and decide to grow as it was extremely difficult to get the watermelon freed from the pot. It didn't taste good either, which made hubby a little pissy after all that work.

I have spring planting fever and I think I will look around for something square.....

Why bust the cinder block? Cut it in two beforehand and tie it together to use it. That way you don't swing too hard when it comes time to harvest it. Otherwise, just hire Gallagher. He likes to hammer on melons for some strange reason.

There's a slightly easier way around it where you just line the cinderblocks with wax paper O_o avoids having to destroy the block

@dantheazn yes if you're growing small watermelons and only have a couple of vines in the pot...but realize the vines are going to go everywhere so putting it in a pot is sort of silly unless you have space around it for the vines to spread. Stick to watermelons that produce small fruits since they'll take less time in the form (use a plastic form, not a cinder block).

As opposed to completely destroying a cinder block you can also make a box out of wood and screw it together, which will allow you to reuse the form over and over. It just doesn't make sense to use a cinder block for this.
