  • About how much cream did you use?

  • @LifeOfAnAntiSocial A technical quantity, a "glug"!!

  • what can i use to substitute cream? and cheese? and wine? how do i make it saucey without those things? anything simple?

  • made this the other night and it was awesome! for those looking to health things up a bit, i used multigrain pasta and, for the sauce, half and half with a bit of flour instead of the cream.

  • Can i ask you a stupid question when the answer is clearly yes?

  • @AnnihilatorXBOX haha of course you can, yes!

  • @ATangProductions of course you can!

  • i never understood what parsley was, until you zoomed it out with the camera, and in a moment of enlightment i declared ''PARSLEY ES PEREJIL!'' and then i wrote this comment :D

  • "It's grate"

    very punny Jamie, Very punny.

  • I can't believe I didn't pick up the cheese being "grate" when I watched this back in June... bloody hell Jamie.

Am looking back because Ma bought a bunch of Prawns for Dad but he's gone away on business so now we need to eat them >.>

Will let you know how it turns out, hopefully get some pictures :)

  • @scharfy Excellent, upload the pictures to our FB page if you get a chance...oh, and as for Jamie...there's jokes everywhere, it's impossible to stop him!!

  • I hav never drank alcohol and I don't intend too so wat cood I use instead of wine

  • @djshabz786 Maybe a bit of chicken or vegetable stock?

  • @djshabz786 nothing

  • I always wondered why you were called Sorted. Is it because when you say "salted" with your accent it sounds like "sorted"? Because I thought you said Sorted water.

  • Can i use other frozen vegetables instead of peas?

  • miiike<3

  • I've learned (in school, lol) that you should always use salt in the water for the pasta. What does it do to the pasta, when you put in salt?

Does it even do anything? o.O

  • @smukzie It's purely for flavour, without it the pasta might taste slightly bland!

  • @smukzie Putting salt in the water also raises the boiling point of the water so that your pasta will cook faster!

  • Could you use broccoli instead of the peas?

  • Favorite lines : Ahh you know thats hot water! - Its boiling actually :D

Hows the cheese getting on? - Its grate :D

Oh sorted crew! You guys crack me up!

  • I feel like barry should be there wearing yellow, just to even things out.

  • "Ben's really good isn't he, don't you think everyone." Yes he is, absolutely brilliant :)

  • i wanna tryy this.. im so hungry right now :D!

  • Does this recipe work as well without the wine?

  • I usually hate most seafood with a passion, but you guys made this look so good... i might pop into morrisons and pick up the basics and give it a try ;)

  • @UnluckyGuitar Let us know how you got on! :D

  • That dish looks amazing guys, I know a very similar one without the prawns so I might combinate those two and just leave out the prawns (because I hate their taste) and cook this for my family some time soon ;)

  • I love my new knife! I think its important to have atleast 1 good knife in our kitchen, ive been so used to my old crappy ones, when i got my new one i was in awe! i only touched the tip of it and it cut deep! it was so insane. Besides working awesomely on fingers, its great for chopping veggies and bread and ANYTHING...makes cooking much easier :D

  • hahaha prawns....

    they're shrimp!

  • the guy in blue looks like ian from smosh... :D

  • I'm Muslim.. Is there any other alternatives instead of using White wine? What would be best?

  • @deeevotchka Simplest thing I would suggest is a shrimp or seafood stock, but this brings up a question about Islamic dietary rules. If you found and used white wine vinegar, would that be breaking the rules?

  • @feitocomfruta yes.. muslims are unable to consume anything that contains alchohol in them. Even after the achohol have been evaporated from cooking.

  • @deeevotchka Ok so seafood stock it is. :) Thanks for the enlightenment!

  • @feitocomfruta Thank u for sharing! =)

  • "How the cheese?"

    "It's grate!" <--Smooth one there :D but I didn't miss it.

  • fish and cheese...?

  • Could I maybe substitute the peas with broccoli? Like steam the broccoli and just add it after the prawns are done cooking?

  • I say "PAHstah" like with an ahhhh sound. not aaaa. but then again I am from usa. :P

  • also I was wondering if there would be any problem with using say a good mature cheddar, as I HATE that smelly cheese your using :)

  • Just a quick possible silly question, but what could you use instead of the 'white wine' ????

  • How the heck do you dice onions so well?! It always fails when I try to do it. "/

  • @EffArrEeeWhyAyy Two things... first a sharp knife so that you slice through it and don't hack through it and secondly patience and practice.

  • Hey,I was wondering if you guys have any idea what I can make for my girlfriend, see she's coming over my house and I told her I'm making something special for her but..she's vegan!,SO..any ideas!??.PLEASE HELP ME!. Thanks

  • I want to make this but i'm only 14. Do I have to use the wine? What can I use as a substitute?

  • @nerdybirdy24 I'm not 100% sure, but I think the alcohol evaporates when cooked. You could always ask one of your parents to buy some. :)

  • @nerdybirdy24 Don't worry about the wine, it's only there to enhance the flavour of everything else The alcohol burns off, when you heat it anyway =D

  • if my mom watch dis, shes gonna give ME a lecture about appropriateness in the kitchen. lols. but anyway i'l always <3 sorted.

  • the blue plaster has gone!! :)

  • @rhiannonkilby haha... yeah the blue plaster coveted by finger for a few months last year after a bad accident... but it grew back eventually. Goes to prove you HAVE to be careful with knives! :S

  • @rhiannonkilby what is the blue plaster?

  • I think it'd be great if you did a healthy stuffed pepper recipe! :D

  • I've just made it:D it was really good and was eaten so quickly by my family:) Only an awesome tase has stayed.

  • Was I the only one that caught on to "How's the cheese?" - "Its grate! (great)".

Anyways, I'd love to get sorted for a good bring-to-work lunch. Our work cantina is expensive and.. iffy.

  • can you do a stuffed pepper recipe?

a vegetarian and not vegetarian style one please?

    thanks!

  • I am SO making this for dinner tonight! It looks delicious!!

So i've got a request! Being the american hippie that i am, i cook veggies a lot, usually steamed, with just a touch of butter and dash of sea salt. And this tastes amazing, but it gets old after a while! Do you guys have any ideas to up the ante on flavor while still keeping it pretty healthy???

    Thanks guys, you're amazing!! :D

  • @whimsicalwhatnot veg like broccoli and asparagus are great steamed and served with a splash of soy sauce and toasted sesame seeds! :D

  • my stomach rumbled REALLY LOUD halfway through this...looked so yummy! could you do a pasta dish with duck and a plum sauce...i had it once at bella italia...it was di-vine. xx

  • when you said "rapidly boiling salted water" it sounded like you said sorted water lol

  • How do you make the garlic bread ?

  • Question that may not have any relevance whatsoever: Does it make a difference if you salt water for pasta before or after it's boiling?

  • @Musiclectica Adding salt to the water before adding the pasta allows the pasta to absorb the salt along with the water as it cooks, hence flavouring it internally. :)

  • instead of using the white wine, what can we substitute for it?

  • u guys are so cute.. ;)..love ur recipes

  • If you guys lived in america, You'd deff be put on food network!

  • Tried this one out, worked really well :D We'll be putting more wine in it next time mind you!

  • can you do a video on how to make the garlic bread you served the pasta with? please!!!

  • hey sorted! i dont know who to ask or how else to ask and this has NOTHING to do with the video but please do answer because this has been driving me CRAZY!

whenever i buy double cream from the supermarket, it always comes back as a solid. as in i actually have to scoop it out with a spoon or else it wont come out. everywhere i look, cooking shows' double cream is like liquid. my mum said to shake it but that doesnt work. i live in hong kong so does that have anything to do with it? HELP PLEASE

  • @4everunperfect hmmm... interesting! Really thick double cream in the UK is often so thick you have to scoop it as well... but not regular double cream. If you shake it too much it will become even thicker. It might have something to do with the temperature that you're storing it at... but beyond that, perhaps it's just really good quality, high in fat cream.

  • @4everunperfect This has nothing to do with your comment nor the video - Just wanted to say 'Hi' to a fellow youtuber from Hong Kong =]

As to your comment though - is this with all the brands and variations that you've tried? If it is then I'd guess that's just the Hong Kong standard of double cream, and try finding the closest step down.

  • @ObsessedGames yeah...well. i mean the ones ive tried are mostly like...from new zealand or something. i got it from parknshop..:) i love being able to say park n shop and know that you actually undertsand what and where that is-.-;)

  • @4everunperfect lol - well as I'm not entirely sure about the reason for your problem i'd suggest this;

Depending on the country of your cooking show try finding a cream which matches the specified fat level of double cream from that country.

    To help you out,

    US - 38-40% or more

    AUS - 48 - 60%

    UK - 48%

Hopefully you should achieve similar results.

  • This looks so tasty, I'd just have to get something other than prawns. I think I might try it with some chicken, even though I'd have to cook it earlier, which takes away the qwick and easy portion of it.

  • Would this recipe still be alright if you didn't add prawns? I'm a vegetarian, but this looks so good.

  • @thatawesomegeekykid Same thing I was thinking, except I'm not vegetarian, I just don't like prawns.

  • can you do a video on how to make the garlic bread you served the pasta with? please and thank you :)

  • everytime ben says salt(ed) i hear sorted - the sorted water - sorted pepper…

  • peas and pasta???

  • Most Americans say pasta as Pahsta =]

  • My family and I don't drink or but alcohol often, not to mention I'm underage. What's an alternative for this recipe (or all recipes in general)?

  • Please do dairy-free, egg-free and gluten-free recipes.

  • Hah! Finally something we Americans say correctly and you Brits don't! PAH-stah!

  • omg I can't wait to make this!! :D

  • My tummy grumbled :C I need to go make this now...

  • who says poosta? xD

  • Speaking of recommendations, since the last Harry Potter movie is around the corner, you guys should do a creative but easy-to-make recipe, Harry Potter themed. :)

  • @cynthiavcaridad A butterbeer recipe!

  • I would love to know how you make your garlic bread. I want the perfect garlic break recipe.

  • I sing "Ben's lips are like, some roses fair i mean literally

He has the sweetest smile and the gentlest chopping onions skill

And I love the ground whereon he stands (=England I guess)"

  • That awkward moment when your SORTED video is preceeded by a McDonald's advert. :o hehe

  • have you done a brownie recipe? I would love to see it.

  • Those looked like shrimp, where I live prawns are much bigger.

  • yumm :) looks awesome

  • this may be a silly question,

but is there any difference between prawn and shrimp?

  • hahah the grin at 2:22

    "you know that's hot water?!"

    "it's boiling, actually."

  • PLEASE TEACH ME HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE AND DELISH PESTO PASTA!!! :)

PLEASE LIKE, SO SORTED CAN SEE IT!! X

  • @hollz11330 Perhaps we might be able to get one of our other chef friends to do this soon? *he says with something up his sleeve!*

  • Peas and prawns seems like an odd combination. May as well give it a try :)

  • I wish i could cut onion as easy as you did !!

  • This looks awesome!

  • I'm 12. Is the whine absolutly nessassary cause my parents wont let me make it if it is.

  • Cool guys...I like pasta some time now...:)

  • do you have to put in the wine? or is there any substitute?

  • I say paw-sta. But I do have an American accent.

  • This is one of my favorite channels on Youtube because as a foodie / aspiring chef I love hearing the differences between cooking in America and Britain

  • i know people who put a bit of oil in the water when as well when making pasta to keep it from sticking. does this actually work?

  • @iloveBeaver1 no, as long as you move the pasta around a bit in the first few minutes of cooking and have plenty of room in the pot the pasta shouldn't stick. also, the oil actually prevents the sauce from clinging to the pasta as well. same reason why you shouldn't rinse the pasta after cooking

  • 0:47 sounds like youre saying sorted water :D

  • Can you use chicken instead of prawns?

    - Looks delicious, by the way, you guys are great :)

  • Who is the guy in the blue sweatshirt?

    He's cute.

  • The discussion of the sound of "pasta" was great :)

@ Ben, never learn them really to cook, the combination of you (who can) and the other teammembers (who can't) is beautiful (no offence for the others :D )

  • Would a blend of cheeses work? Like a Cheddar-Swiss or Mozerella-Cheddar mix? Or is that just weird to you? (I'm Chinese so I don't work with cheeses a lot)

  • ben... the way you threw that lemon to jamie was so swift and cool

  • yummy pasta peas prawns i love :D I LOVE SORTED

  • Please could you do a summer dish but without fish?

  • This might be a stupid question, but if you put salt in the water to season the pasta, couldn't you use other things in the water to season it too? Like garlic or thyme?

  • hows the cheese getting on... its grate ahahhaha this made me lol

  • I'll be wanting to use my crockpot a lot more when I'm away at school. Could you show some flavorful recipes that are good for slowcookers?

  • "Is that pasta there?"

    "It's still here, yeah."

    hahahhahahah

  • Change it around a bit and get the crew to teach Ben their speciality dish :L

  • @NStewart1993 lol, this would be hilarious! Don't know if Ben would cope though ;-p

  • I was wondering if you could do a vid on how to make the perfect stir-fry.

I'm determined to get more veg in my diet but my stir-frys tend to just turn into an unappetizing, flavourless mess :(

  • Bit of oil and salt with the boiling water prevents the pasta from sticking together

  • hey guys i've watched your other pasta videos as well. always salted water to cook the pasta in. why salted water?

  • @deppwaswho just helps to season the pasta

  • @sortedfood ...the Italians say: "it should be as salted as the Mediterranean sea". Oh, and Ben says Pasta correctly!

  • @deppwaswho Also helps the water boil quicker if I remember my science classes right.

  • Could you make a video of cheese nachos??

  • @sortedfood

Was that an Alfredo sauce you made for the pasta? Also, great recipe, I love seafood pasta, so I'll definitely try this out. If I were to put avocado in it, would you recommend frying it in the pan with the prawns and stuff before adding everything to the pasta...? Not sure how to cook avocado haha :)

  • Can you make a pancake / french toast video?

    Thanks!

  • Do you HAVE to use parmesan or would other cheeses work too D:?

  • @sortedfood yay thank you so much SORTED!

by the way i wonder who's replying the comments ? :-)

  • are the sorted books ever going to be available in north america or the U.S.?

  • @gabrizebraa Google "book depository sorted Ben Ebbrell". They offer free international shipping.

  • when it comes to cooking with wine there is only one real rule you need to follow. if you woulnt drink dont cook with it, anything labeled as "cooking wine" just means cheap and awful.
