fuck me that asshole coach driver needs his face punching in, what a asshole, lets hope a looney is on the loose and gives him a beatdown, the way he accelrated towards the bike is such a pisstake
The vehicle size for that road should be restricted before an accident occurs it should be acknowledged and acted upon ,that was in no way the bikers fault imagine if you had been in a cage
I see lots of comments blaming the rider (and the rider is to blame for part of the danger here, dont get me wrong) but that bus is going waaay too fast considering it's size and that it's going across both lanes.
There is no safety thinking on the bus drivers part and had he hit the bike it would have been the bus drivers resposibility. He could have been imprisoned for it!
The bus has no reason to RACE the bend like that, infact it only makes it more likely to fail the turn going THAT fast.
yeah, I don't pull over, cry and spend ten minutes reflecting on every near miss that ever happens to me, you look out for this sort of stuff but some things just happen.
am surprised that the bus kept accelerating...... i understand you both know your limits but the fact you had to tilt the bike so your bars wouldnt hit is just WWWAAAAAYYYYY to close. good vid though :D
Yeah ok, he got a little close to the coach's turning area, but you don't see the coach driver exactly giving a shit about the bike's presence. What if the bike had rolled a little further on, is it ok for the coach to just crash into him?
Truth is, because it's "hard" work stopping and starting in those situations, many coach (and truck) drivers will do everything they can to keep up momentum, including bullying people into stopping/driving up the banking.
That was a bit close for comfort and the reason why it happened? Rider NOT paying attention to the road ahead and having consideration for other road users.
Most badass reaction to almost being ran over.. WOOHOO! So glad my f800 has crash bars, I would have just ditched the bike and attempt to climb the retaining wall haha
This bike sounds very nice. I have a DL1000, and (after riding cruisers for 3 years before the V-strom), this smooth power at low rpms is the only thing I really miss now!
'Woo Hoo' happens, but good riders learn from their mistakes. It doesn't sound like you even see this as a screw-up on your part. As someone else said, it won't be 'fun' when the next bus splatters you all over the road.
@geonerd I did acknowledge on original comments that I could have done that better. Don't want to come off or promote missing anything closely. No splattering by anyone please ;-)
@geonerd shut the hell up, he was happy he didn't get hit, and it wasn't his fault it was that close, he slowed down to a stop and waited with plenty of room, that bus driver was the dolt.. just like you... you dolt...
@geonerd How was it the riders screw up when the coach comes round the corner on the opposite side of the road, the coach driver should have waited until it was safe to cross the white line or chose a different route
@geonerd who says he hasnt learned from his mistake. I have had close calls on sleds all the time and that is what makes it so much fun. Do I learn from them, yes
@geonerd The bus crossed the line, the BUS should of made sure it was clear, the BUS should of taken responisbility to slow down if there was any doubt he would clear the on coming traffic. I think he did ok! Saw the hazard, got over to one side. I thought it was a bit aggresive of the coach to just plough round at speed. If in doubt you can always use the brake. Your completely out of order to accuse him of bad riding.
@geonerd It wasn't so much the rider's fault....he gave enough space for the bus to make the turn.....maybe he could give another 2-3 meters....nevertheless that bus driver should have slowed down as soon as he realized it was going to be such a close pass.....
You had between 0.15sec & 0.27 sec, thats 12 seconds of early warning you had from seeing the coach to meeting it, 12 seconds is a long time not to be able to read the road ahead
If you used proper observations you would have seen the coach earlier and been prepared to meet it on a tight corner, in your video you get a shot of the coach approaching at 0.15sec and again at 0.41 sec so again you should have anticipated you might meet this LARGE vehicle on a tight bend, ITS THE POOR RIDING SKILLS THAT CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN, From your position you can see the coach before he can see you and you failed to factor this into your riding plan, get some advanced training!
LOL!! I also had a "WOO HOO" moment this morning on my SV1000S on my way to work.. took a gap around a Ford pickup truck (Bakkie as we call it here in SAfrica), feels good, if only I could wheelie I would've wheelied away after the guy hooted at me. lol
you know, for people that drive a giant vehichle for a living you think bus drivers would be better at it, a transit bus ran a red and almost killed me once, and he even had the audacity to honk at me on my bike.
I sounds stupid but that road looks like the road in the alps with 21 hairpins leading up to Alp D'huez, it features on the tour de france, and i also been there skiing
@zanuha Ya there was. The coach could have kept turning out of the corner, even just a little bit, instead of straightening out. He probably didn't want to drop down a gear at that incline so he tried to carry speed trough it. Lazy ass.
Wow thats mad sketchy dude. I dont get the comments saying its ur fault!?! I dun know how shit works in Switzerland, but here in canada if a bus swerves into oncoming traffic and hits you head on, its the bus' fault lol. If that happened 2 me Id snap.
I seriously hate roads like that, it takes balls to ride a motorbike down one of those passes, I've only ever ridden 'up' mounatin passes that are less twisty on the way down :-D
@2falc0N If I were that other motorist I wouldn't mind because I realize that I would do the same thing to put myself in a good position to take the turn. His mirrors didn't even pass the white line! you must not ride.
Good thing you are a smart rider. I know a few riders that wouldn't of stopped and would've kept going (which would've resulted in a serious collision).
@MrEunuch You probably could've given him more room because you shouldn't bet injury on another driver doing the right thing. He definitely should've continued to take the turn slowly and kept the wheel turned until he was more in his lane again though. He straightened out way to quickly and apparently really gave it some gas.
You gave him enough room, he took all of it. lol kinda douchey of him
@megaelectric1 Yea, good lesson to learn. In the cold light of day easy to remember and I hope I do after days and days of doing that stuff. Too busy spending my time grinning!

@2wheelsteve give way to slow moving vehicles coming up hill, pretty simple stay further back! Im a biker and a coach driver so can see it from both ways, you try taking 40+ ft of coach up there and stopping on that corner to let a biker who could easily have pulled up 10ft earlier go by........
@eimaj26 Well if the biker fucked up by getting close the the bend you run over him policy is it, come on the guy did good stopping and we know the rules of the road giving way to hill climbers etc.
