Why do Mormons spend all this time doing geneologies when the Bible says they are foolish, unprofitable, and vain in Titus 3:9 and not to give heed to them in 1 Tim 1:4?

I don't get why Mormons keep doing things that God's word tells us not to do. It's like they are trying to improve on what God already said in the Bible. It's vain.
