@lourak No cement needed. the beauty of a mortarless system is it is designed to stack up with out the use of mortar or cement. These blocks have rasied rings on the top that work sort of like "leggos" when you stack them up. We would recomment using a concrete adhesive on the top course and caps to secure them in place. especially if you are going to use them for any type of seating.
@themachinegunn Concrete is a bit more sturdy than you think. Because of the interlocking nature of the blocks they form their own type of strength. However if you are concerned and want to reinforce the post you can use concrete adhesive to "glue" them together or add reinforcement to taller post by following the instructions we have in our adding strength to posts video.
