  • He plays Ottoman music of few hundreds years ago i like his style very nice :)

  • الله عليــــــكـ

  • What a sound. What a passionate player. This music is good for you!

  • Sehnaz Longa Supperr....

  • And Madeline Albright is to his left.

  • is he improvising?

  • no

  • whats the name of this piece?

  • this turkish şehnaz longa....

  • دوووووووووووس والله عزف ع البيبان

  • do you ever listen to a song and don't want it to end?

  • fantastic thank you

  • Look for Fauziah Gambus.... a very talented girl playing the oud from Brunei Darussalam

  • عزف خطير

  • Wow!

  • no words

  • what is the name of this piece?!

  • This man was my inspiration to buy an oud.

  • Just perfect! Love your performance! Wish I could play a longa like you! You are a real oud maestro! Thanks!

  • amazing. without a doubt!

  • awesome player. i love this instrument. it makes an interesting type of music. i love it when he changes the tune, and plays on in 2:08

  • Allah ya Afif , Ustaz , this is what i`m talking about

  • His wrist position looks so awkward... probably just because I play guitar though. He's crazy fast!

  • Diendo!

  • Stunning,, professional

  • pssst...he is very good...his speed is very good..he he he he..but its not as fast as a bouzouki.....look up Giannaros Paleologou..

  • complete different instrument, greeks dont have oud, it's a diff instrument they use. Turke, and Arabs do though

  • Greeks dont have Oud?? Which idiot told you this?? Who created/performed most the famous songs in Anatolia????

Take a guess?? Greeks have used the Oud/Outi in MANY of their songs...look very closely and carefully my friend...you will see it....bouzouki and sazi are totally different instruments....enjoy the music...

  • @akrivosdiavolos73 sorry friend but greeks are stealing many thing from Turks. Oud is a completely Turkish instrument. İn middle asia there were an isntrument called kopuz.. And oud comes from it.

  • not so traditional but amazing

  • very nice indeed.

  • I love how the speed actually makes it sound good.

  • nice music...simply amazing

  • in awe

  • hahahahaha thats right white people make gay music

  • fuck you all arabs get all the cool music and whitey is stuck with.. crap :(

  • sounds like he just focuses on speed as opposed to actually making something sound beautiful. Hes good and I do like what I hear so far but this Oud "shit" still seems to sound better in my ears.

  • I hate to break it to you, but Spanish guitar as you say is not white. It is a mix of gypsy, moorish and jewish influences.

  • Moorish guitar is not Spanish guitar. Two different instruments. The Spanish guitar was given its (superior) shape and form by Antonio de Torres Jurado, a white Spaniard. Of course you can trace back influence to the sitar and tanbur, but that's not the point. Those are different instruments. Just like the oud is a different instrument.

  • white spaniard? What the hell is that supposed to be

  • you crazy, each musician has his own place.

    This man played perfectly!

    you crazy...

  • Soooo, by your views, fuck all other cultures. only the ones you like?

    get out you sod.

  • f u 2

  • lounga hijazkarkurdi "sayoukh afandi"

  • it's not nihavened longa it's Kurdilihicazkar Longa....

  • this part name is:nihavend longa.

  • I doubt it gets better than that.

  • ali hassan

  • Isn't that Gorbachev in the background?

  • HA ha ha ha!!!!! That was the funniest comment... really I laughed so so hard...lol!

  • Hahaahhahaha Gorby digs oud!

  • lol acdc arabian? nothing can beat the real thing

  • That was cool. Somewhere around 3:30 it sounds like he's playing surf guitar. More likely Dick Dale stole that sound from an Oud player, but still.....

  • He didn't steal it. Stealing implies that it's a bad thing, which it really isn't. As to Dick Dale's influences, they probably come from all over the place.

  • You're right. AC/DC are shit compared to this guy.

  • at 4:55 it sounds like arabian AC/DC xDD

    what an amazing player :)

  • Ar 4.50 he starts to tear shit up totally!

    rock on Afif!

  • holyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, that was insane!!!! Great job and 5 starssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • My god, starting around 4:50 it's just crazy.

  • He's not Turkish but the song is a traditional Turkish song... This song is very popular because you can hear this song in films about "Ottoman Empire". (Mostly in old films"). By the way he plays bad...

  • this is nihavend longa and this man is very bad .

  • Comment removed

  • he is from Syria indeed. I donno whther the guy is Arab or Kurd, Armenian or Circassian, Christian or Muslim..and I don't care.. I care that this ghuy is from Syria and people from Syria are one nation and one family.

And toz on everyone who tries to raise those differences.

  • @Amrfaham , your right ,he is syrian currently living in the united states in california , in this video he is playing at the UCSB with the KAN ZAMAN ensemble in southern california (to the best of my knowledge he doesn't perform with them any more ), seen here playing a sabsabi oud .

longa music is turkish music but this one is written by master composer riadh sunbati.

if any one has a correction or addition please let me know.

  • @adamcoins Sorry for this random post a year later! But if the composer is riadh sunbati, what is the name of the piece? Thanks.

  • @ArdRiNaMi lounga shehnaz - riadh sunbati

  • @ArdRiNaMi no not riadh sunbati it is lunga for sapoukh afandi

  • nihavent longa haricinde herşeyi çalmış bu ne yaaa çok kötü

  • أعتقد أن هذه المقطوعة لونجا من تأليف الملحن رياض السنباطي

  • this guys awesome, imagine playing that on a guitar in a special D tuning (DADADD).. with the addition of a tremolo it might sound cooler who knows.

still great job on the video!

  • عملااااااااااق

  • ابداع وعزف زاخر متوحش

  • عجيب عجيب

  • Fantastic musicianship. I would like to know whether the piece is wholly or partly improvised. It is interesting that it looks like a "classical" music setting but the music really rocks!

  • Well named video... this is amazing! Beautiful. Thank you for posting.
