Greeks dont have Oud?? Which idiot told you this?? Who created/performed most the famous songs in Anatolia????
Take a guess?? Greeks have used the Oud/Outi in MANY of their songs...look very closely and carefully my friend...you will see it....bouzouki and sazi are totally different instruments....enjoy the music...
@akrivosdiavolos73 sorry friend but greeks are stealing many thing from Turks. Oud is a completely Turkish instrument. İn middle asia there were an isntrument called kopuz.. And oud comes from it.
sounds like he just focuses on speed as opposed to actually making something sound beautiful. Hes good and I do like what I hear so far but this Oud "shit" still seems to sound better in my ears.
Moorish guitar is not Spanish guitar. Two different instruments. The Spanish guitar was given its (superior) shape and form by Antonio de Torres Jurado, a white Spaniard. Of course you can trace back influence to the sitar and tanbur, but that's not the point. Those are different instruments. Just like the oud is a different instrument.
That was cool. Somewhere around 3:30 it sounds like he's playing surf guitar. More likely Dick Dale stole that sound from an Oud player, but still.....
He didn't steal it. Stealing implies that it's a bad thing, which it really isn't. As to Dick Dale's influences, they probably come from all over the place.
He's not Turkish but the song is a traditional Turkish song... This song is very popular because you can hear this song in films about "Ottoman Empire". (Mostly in old films"). By the way he plays bad...
what you are talking about he is a good player it's not important that he muslem or cherstian or from syria or from india he is a good player that's all and by the way it's a turckich song which called longa saboogh that's sure
he is from Syria indeed. I donno whther the guy is Arab or Kurd, Armenian or Circassian, Christian or Muslim..and I don't care.. I care that this ghuy is from Syria and people from Syria are one nation and one family.
And toz on everyone who tries to raise those differences.
@Amrfaham , your right ,he is syrian currently living in the united states in california , in this video he is playing at the UCSB with the KAN ZAMAN ensemble in southern california (to the best of my knowledge he doesn't perform with them any more ), seen here playing a sabsabi oud .
longa music is turkish music but this one is written by master composer riadh sunbati.
if any one has a correction or addition please let me know.
Fantastic musicianship. I would like to know whether the piece is wholly or partly improvised. It is interesting that it looks like a "classical" music setting but the music really rocks!

I hate to break it to you, but Spanish guitar as you say is not white. It is a mix of gypsy, moorish and jewish influences.
