Benny hill made me laugh, his girls helped me thru my teen age years, I remember many a night sneaking out of bed and watching his show while my mom was asleep..

If the BBC had not dumped Hill so abruptly and so callously, he might have lived longer. The sudden sacking left him deeply depressed and he became an unhappy recluse. When he died in his small London Flat in 1992, it was 4 days before his death was discovered and he was found sitting in his armchair in his small, sparsely furnished flat, having had a heart-attack whilst watching TV. A sad end to a very talented comic. He deserved better and the BBC should have been more grateful to him.

I swear he was a head of his time...like Led Zeppelin...Both did things back then people copy nowadays...Benny and his acting variety and al the skits, reminds me a lil of the Chappelle show...minus the girls of course!

Benny was a genius and legend. From the 50s to the 90s that humble genius made the whole world laugh. He is know today as a comedian who relied on sexist and lewd jokes and its simply not true. He was a total pioneer in TV. The BBC hold the rights to his early work and should be shamed for not releasing it on DVD to show the world what a total genius this man was. And Thames TV should hang their head in total shame for sacking him in the early 90s. RIP Benny Hill you very funny man and best ever

@smudgsmith I just saw this clip and you are truly right! I know this is like two years later (I watched this today) and I agree with you he was such a funny man and in his own right a legend! I think he was the best comedian from London to ever air in the States! I remember watching his show as a kid! My mom new his comedy was lewd and sexist, but there was nothing wrong with it because he did it with class! It was funny and not lewd at all.

@smudgsmith I agree with every word you have written. Benny's shows in the 50's and 60's were great. I even remember his radio shows and the comic strip that he used to feature in ( I think it was the BBC annuals). Great comedian sadly missed
