I think "dying with dignity" via assisted suicide is a fallacy and a thick one at that. This argument, along with others are used often.There is this complete ignoring of that which is human when you say something like this. I have been around many dying people,of whom would have had people take their life had they the choice.But what I've learned is that through suffering, as hard as it is to grasp, comes this unparalleled hope that is hard to describe. but, you have to be willing to let it in.

The problem with suicide being illegal is that if you want to die and you do commit suicide with your wife in the same room, so she can say her final goodbyes. Then she becomes guilty of helping you commit suicide and will be convicted for it with imprisonment as a result. That would be very sad, Since she only helped her husband to end his life with dignity. That is why clinics like "Dignitas" are true aid organizations and merit the right to exist.

What's unacceptable about opinions about suicide is that others would very much like to impose their opinions upon others, tell them what's wrong or right, with their argumentation ranging babbling about religion to (their) morality. The suicidee is to decide. (S)he may choose to follow one path or the other, but as long as it's her/his decision and it's not imposed by anyone, it's OK and it needs to be respected and accepted. End of story.

I don't force anybody to believe in God! It is impossible, because God gave you a right to believe in Him or not. But why you try to make me fill bad for having biblical point of view? If you think differently it is your right. But think about what going to happened if suicide would be legal. Many people who have stress or some other issues will exercise their right to commit suicide, think about their families.

The problem with suicide being illegal is that if you want to die and you do commit suicide with your wife in the same room, so she can say her final goodbyes. Then she becomes guilty of helping you commit suicide and will be convicted for it with imprisonment as a result. That would be very sad, Since she only helped her husband to end his life with dignity. That is why clinics like "Dignitas" are true aid organizations and merit the right to exist.

I think that its wrong for a company to profit from this, but if its a charity thats self funded then that would be ok.
Tough subject, if the condition is terminal and causes a lot of pain then it should be up to the individual.
You have to respect them for wanting to carry this out, there are a lot of positives and negatives, but if the persons quality of life is so affected by the condition then they should have the right for this.

It is said that only God (read Supreme power(s)) has the right to make things exist or not... so suicide is unnatural. That's a very anthropocentric viewpoint. Even if a being helps another being die, or kills another being ... that person is simply an instrument the Supreme power(s) is using. Nothing unnatural therefore in helping another person die. I also agree that this is a topic that would probably require some life experience in order to understand fully and form an educated opinion on. However, I don't think that there's any harm in Tom asking these questions at his age as the responses he gets will help him to have a well informed opinion on this, whether this opinion is formed now or in the future after more life experience.
