  • I'm Jewish and I'm not taking any offense with this episode. I have a lot of relatives who don't want their children to marry a non-Jew, just like I have a lot of relatives who don't care.

  • Producers are jewish alright...

  • my 3 favorites...martin..niles..and EDDIE!!!!

  • How long has Niles been saving up all this knowledge? Its like he's just been waiting for someone to ask him to pretend to be Jewish.

  • Niles dressed as Jesus? It's about time he stopped pretending and came out.

  • Wow... people are way too uppity about this episode. It's just a comedy show... relax. The funniest part of the ep has to be "JESUS?!"... Everyone looks so startled and Niles scurries away. Haha. I like that "Frasier" isn't afraid of making fun of/using stereotypes instead of side-stepping any controversial issue. I think it makes the show more realistic because so many people really do believe in them. But by addressing them in this comedy style makes it more obvious how silly they are.

  • @niloufarkeramat I took it as her only insulting him because she knows she's been deceived so is pissed off.

  • In real life, Faye would give me so many red flags with all her issues with mommy.

That was some real high school drama shit there at the end :)

  • If i were niles, i would have stuck my tongue out at her, even if i was dressed as jesus.

  • agreed.

  • For Frasier's taste, that is an ugly tree!

  • They are really cutting it close with these not-quite-anti-semetic jokes aren't they?

  • @PuppetMask i bet the writers are jewish

  • Why was the mother so rude to Jesus Niles ??

  • @niloufarkeramat because she's jewish

  • @niloufarkeramat She's Jewish, they do not honor Jesus or celebrate CHristmas. they only recognize the Old Testament

  • @g9yx1s Well yes of course I know she's Jewish. I mean that's the whole subject of the plot and I know what Jewish people believe in.. But that was exactly my point, should they really be showing a Jew insulting Christ like that? I mean isn't that kind of rude and some form of theophobia or rather xenophobia??

  • @g9yx1s (this is the rest of my comment) I thought that in our day and age and in a series which is well much more intellectually stimulating than most of the other things out there,it's kind of primitive to see a mature, higher middle class woman show this kind of behaviour. Wouldn't you agree? Or is that really the image of a Jewish person they wanted to show?

  • Haha the whole conversation between Frasier and Niles dressed as Jesus was priceless!!!

  • "JESUS!!!"

XD Oh my gosh, I just about cried!

  • @diamondnora Agreed. The first time i saw this episode and saw that part, i was on the floor, i remember because i hurt myself because i actually fell to the ground from laughing so hard, lol

  • For all the principles Frasier claims to have, it's funny how he's willing to betray them all for a woman who's pants he wants to get into. Exactly what would he have told Mrs Moskowitz once their relationship had progressed into something more serious? "Oh btw, I'm NOT JEWISH!! That's right, the first time we ever met, we played a terrible charade!! HAHA! Oh but don't worry - you can trust me now!"

  • @dredericktotem1245 I don't think he does it so he can sleep with the woman so much as he wants to spare his feelings. This being a comedy show, a tiny white lie spirals out of control every episode, so he looks worse than he actually is. But that's just my take

  • @unholyaquarius I assume you meant "spare her feelings" (as in the Jewish mother). Trust me, he was doing it to get in her (Judging Amy's) pants. He does this so often if you watch other episodes it will leave you in no doubt Frasier is just an old horndog. He will throw his "principles" out to get laid; this is yet another example. And in this case, it's almost certain even from the outset that this will be no little "white lie". It's a very big deal.

  • @dredericktotem1245

    Well said!!

  • My favorite episode of Frasier!

  • Sit. We're nearly done. LOL!

  • "Think you can pull it off?"

"No problem. Ooh, ham!" Hahaha! Oh Niles.

  • Roz is soo damn beautiful.

  • Niles enjoyed that charade just a bit too much. LOL

  • grand episode perfect watching for the holiday season

  • BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol at Martin at 20:26. I love his character!

  • "Faye's mum thinks we're Jewish, just play along"

    "OK"

I love Niles immediate willingness to play make believe.

  • @egbert88 It says something about the Cranes that something like this is perfectly normal :P

  • 16:48 LOL

  • Niles makes a good Jesus

  • we never should have tried this, we're not jewish

  • "I just wanted to show him that there are no hard feelings" I love Martin.

  • @AstralPixie :S that was a frasier quote

  • Lmao. To funny

  • What season is this?

  • @karen101493

    6.

  • I guess someone wanted to rack up a few more frequent Frasier miles....lol

  • one of the best scenes of "frasier" ever , from 13.14 - 18.04 , a.o. :

1/that's a beatiful bedroom ,Frasier, I noticed you were sort of quiet Faye, almost as you've been in there before, he ? Oh yeah, I have Ma, but I was drunk and it was dark, I don't remember so much..".....

    2/ ......JESUS !!!! .........

3/....sit, we're nearly done ....well, we should go....

it's so finely balanced, beautiful humor and perfectly played! it always makes me laugh, every time, again and again !!!!

  • I really liked Faye. Out of all of Frasier's girlfriends, she's my favorite.

  • "Jeeeeeesus!" Lol

  • we never should have tried this we're not jewish!

  • "It's dreadful!"

    "Perfect."

  • 10:15 Niles said "Oy". I love Jewish Niles.

  • I just wanted to show him there were no hard feelings.

  • "L'Chaim! Mazel Tov! Next year in Jerusalem!"

"Take it down a notch Tevye."

Genius. Just genius. One of my favorite episodes, ever! That, and "JESUS!" have to be my favorite moments of this episode.

  • Amy Brenneman is awesome!

  • Niles & Daphne scene at Cafe Nervosa. So adorable!

  • Frasier: Faye's mother thinks we're jewish, just play along.

    Niles: OK. Why?

this with a completely straight face - just goes to show how used to one another they are, not to mention the brilliant acting from Kelsey and David.

  • Jewish Niles = one of the most splendid things ever.

  • 'sit, we're nearly done' gets me everytime

  • No Chris Jewish is not a race. Of course there were Hebrews but then they spread out through Europe and Asia and so forth. Most Jews will have a heritage such as a Russian Jew, German Jew, There was no place where they could live all together as their own people until the state of Israel was created, then Jews from all over moved their and formed the population. Jewish is basically a religion that originally derived from the Hebrew people who then migrated across the world and inter-married

  • @DerekFikely Very educational thank you. All this time American TV has indirectly falsely promoted Jewish people as a race and not a religion. That is why a good amount of Americans think of race when they think of Jews. So basically Israel a state for people that believe in the same religion. Now Today I request from my government to build two private Islands State Of Christianland and State of Muslimville so we can ship them out of American and get them out of our hair. haha

  • @grownman455 I think a lot of people saw them as a race before American TV.

Like, you know, Hitler and the Nazis.

  • Comment removed

  • My very favorite episode!!! The look on Niles face when the bathroom door opens with that nasel medicatinon stuck up his nose dressed like Jesus!!! Brings me tears of laughter everytime!!!

  • Is Seattle populated entirely with good looking women?

  • I love the banter between Niles and Frasier starting at about 9:44.

  • My fav episode! The first time I saw it... when the door opened to reveal Jesus with the X-mas tree... I laughed so hard I was delirious! :-D

  • "Next year in Jerusalem!"

    ahahahahaha Niles is awesome

  • Frasier is in no way surprised that the woman would prefer it if he were Jewish. Substitute white for Jewish and the racism is obvious. I have never been in the USA and am wondering if such racism is as normal as Frasier's reaction to it would suggest..

  • @llieno He's used to it because his last wife, Lilith, was Jewish.

  • @llieno More like substitute Christian for Jewish. Not racist but religiously particular.

  • @richcoolerearth Oh, I thought the Jews were a tribal people like, for example, the Celtic tribes, rather than members of a religion. I've heard people describe themselves as Jewish and Atheist so I'm not convinced your right about that. As for "Not racist but religiously particular", I've never heard the word particular used in that context before. This side of the pond we would say "Not racist but religiously bigoted."

  • @llieno Jews are both a religion and a race. One can be a Jew (of Jewish heritage) while not following the religious faith. In the more conservative strains of Judaism, it's required to marry another member of Judaism, or at least raise the children in the Jewish faith. This sort of preference for spouses of the same religion is not typical, but certainly not uncommon here in the US. That said, I certainly agree this sort of bigotry should be consigned to history

  • @ChrisMarquette Thanks for taking the time to explain Chris.

  • 11:45 Martin: "I have no Idea...do I?! LOL

  • Is that level of racism in any way normal in the Jewish American community?

  • @llieno

    What are you talking about?

  • Classic! Niles makes a great Jesus. This is a good one to save for the holidays.

  • GET OUT! Of that coat.

  • "GET OOOOOUT!.........of that coat already"

    LMAO

  • @TerminalCriticism I loved that part

  • @TerminalCriticism dont you just love helen's eyes after he said get out?

  • LOL

I love when Frasier tells Niles they're pretending to be Jewish and Niles is just like, "Okay." He's so used to just playing along with them pretending to be anything other than what they are.

  • @raerae1281 I know right!

Faye's mother thinks we're Jewish, just play along.

    Okay.

    Bahahaa! No questions asked. :)

  • @KellyAWilkerson LOL, next line. "Ooo, ham."

  • This one and High Holidays are THE 2 best X-Mas eps ever!

  • ugh, enough already with the jewish stereotypes...

  • @ChenPerry Don't you mean "Oy, enough already....."?

  • "Jesus!"

    ROFL XD
