I added the hummer in 1971 to TRY and get the Pappilardi/Bruce EBO "buzz". It works to some degree on full, but what I also needed was the shorter string length/lower tension that the Gibson has. The two pups can be combined so I can get the hummer "thud" with the P on wide open treble. It's a unique sound that I just don't use much. Paul
