Why do HD guys insist on spending thousands in blacking or chroming shit out. The bikes look great as-is. I notice the dealers really push this too, I bet the markups on these parts are like 200%. Then when you trade-in they say these accessories dont help the trade-in value. When they sell it used they say we are asking good $ because of all the accessories. Your getting a great value. What a scam.
Hey can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Road glide and the Street glide. They both look identical bar the front head light......can anyone explain?
Street glide... shorter rear shocks and as you already said on the Road Glide a different fairing design which is mounted to the body, meaning that it does not turn when the handlebars turn.
STOCK Harley Street Glide will get 50mpg without modifications. That means with stock wheel/tires, stock engine and stock exhaust. You will also get good mileage if you don't add any heavy chrome parts to the frame.
Yeah these are great bikes but let's face it. The Street Glide should really be called the Geezer Glide. It's disigned for over the hill HD riders who's backs can't handle the bumps and potholes anymore on the smaller bikes... :-)
I still love HD but I bought my Vstar because I knew I'd get twice the bike for half the money. I realize that your resale value is much better than mine but you don't buy a bike as an investment. You buy it to ride. I have 30,000 miles on my bike with only one trip to the shop when my rectifier gave up the ghost. By the time you hit anywhere near that you will have spent thousands just to keep it running. You'll probably be on your second motor by then if you even keep the bike that long...
the only guy i know with a late model harley who had engine trouble had major engine work done to the bike before the problems. harleys are reliable now, and have been since the twin cam.
2000 Softail Standard, 24,000 plus miles, no leaks, no smoke, not using any oil. Been through a set or two of tires, and a couple batteries, thats its, runs as strong as the day she was new !!! Wouldnt think twice of taking her across country tomorrow !!!
i have a 09 myself and i love it but lets not b.s.anyone i've never got better than 40mpg.,or have been able to get more than 5 gallons of gas in the tank and have never put even 200 miles on between fills.not sure how they measure that tank capacity, maybe without fuel pump?awesome bike other than that.

Yeah okay. Your one of the shmucks that thinks all the people owning other makes secretly want a Harley but can't afford it.
Yes my Vstar looks like a Harley but is way more reliable than the Superglide and lowrider I used to own.
