First off, this is Children of Bodom's COVER of this song, an open interpretation paying tribute to a legendary group of artists. Am I absolutely crazy about Alexi's voice in this song? Not really, but it's THEIR cover, not yours. I love this cover, the cool thing about this version is that I feel like I am in a F-22 rather than a WWII Spitfire when I hear the original. This is a great modern metal group spreading Metal's influence, whats wrong with that? Nothing! God Bless!
Not a huge fan of they vocals, but the mastering fucking kills this song. It sounds like it's been brickwalled to hell. Everything is at the same bloody level all the time. During the guitar solo you can't pick it out very well due to the fact everything else is at the same level. A shame because the guitar did sound very good, it just had no place to stand out.
It depends on which band you prefer. I like both, Children Of Bodom AND Iron Maiden very much. This is a great cover, done in typical older COB-style. Of course many hardcore Maiden fans don't like it. It was the first COB-song i ever heard and first i also thought "Terrible voice!" because i love the original. But what now? Today COB is my favourite band. Nothing can beat the original but you can listen to both versions anyway.

@Loz8900 Not really, you don't know shit about me, but back to the actual subject of this conversation, yes I do deny that a vocalist is a singer, in a specific outlook of it. When someone is giving a speech, they are VOCALIZING. So yes singing is vocalizing, as well as screaming, talking, growling, etc. But as far as death metal screaming goes, no, screaming is not singing.

The exact definition of Vocalist for you:

Taken straight for the dictionary. And yes, death growling is STILL considered singing because it has to do with changing pitch (don't tell me a death growl isn't a pitch change) to a rhythm.

First off, this is Children of Bodom's COVER of this song, an open interpretation paying tribute to a legendary group of artists. Am I absolutely crazy about Alexi's voice in this song? Not really, but it's THEIR cover, not yours. I love this cover, the cool thing about this version is that I feel like I am in a F-22 rather than a WWII Spitfire when I hear the original. This is a great modern metal group spreading Metal's influence, whats wrong with that? Nothing! God Bless!

Not a huge fan of they vocals, but the mastering fucking kills this song. It sounds like it's been brickwalled to hell. Everything is at the same bloody level all the time. During the guitar solo you can't pick it out very well due to the fact everything else is at the same level. A shame because the guitar did sound very good, it just had no place to stand out.

It depends on which band you prefer. I like both, Children Of Bodom AND Iron Maiden very much. This is a great cover, done in typical older COB-style. Of course many hardcore Maiden fans don't like it. It was the first COB-song i ever heard and first i also thought "Terrible voice!" because i love the original. But what now? Today COB is my favourite band. Nothing can beat the original but you can listen to both versions anyway.
