@SteamTrainsIreland I used Adobe Premiere Elements 8. The 'old film' filter has a range of settings so you can fine-tune what the colour looks like, how much damage there is, etc. The frame with rounded edges is a bitmap created in a drawing program and used as an overlay in PE8. The letters flicking past at the start (they spell 'processed by Kodak') are copied from the 'leader' film on a real piece of old cine.
Wow great vid and long live steam, you can't put a good engine down! Fantastic to see the little loco doing what it was intended for with, I take it, RPSI locomen? Hear's to the next time! Ken from Scotland
Great job capturing this lovely little piece of history - it really is fantastic that we had commercial steam workings in 2005 - who knows, it may happen again, this may not be the last!
@bbusschots1980 Yes, maybe, but then again there are preserved diesel-electrics now (former IE Bo-Bos). One of those might get the job, like that Deltic that was brought back for goods trains recently.
@adjn1973 This was Bleach Green - Whitehead, Autumn and Winter 2005. Steam was the best option because Northern Ireland Railways only has 3 diesel locomotives, usually with at least one out of action. An RPSI steam engine was the only other vehicle powerful enough to pull the wagons. Actually this was the second time this happened - the first was in 2000 - and it might not be the last!
Nice to see Steam still doing hard work after 200 years!

Brilliant! - Where was the work happening and why was steam the best option, compared to a diesel for example?
