2) The most horrendous nazi crimes were not decribed under German law, in fact they were not decribed in any legislative system at all at the time they were commited (crimes against humanity etc.). The treatment of germany after WWI was only one side of the medal which is often overlooked indeed. The main reason why that is the case however are the crimes commited by the nazis later on.
