Great song, and reminds me of Co. Clare. I wish I was back there. Well done! It's a song of homesickness and longing. How often we all dream of going home, but we've gone too far from our own Co. Clare's, to where we are now, metaphorically alone, with our Jameson and our music.
I think you misunderstand me elvendance, whilst I agree that he is a great singer I was commenting on the fact that clare to here is a song that sounds better when sung by an irish person as the accent very much adds to the soul of the song. His english accent envelopes the song a bit much..sorry
Gaming3volved Don't try telling ElvenDane anything about McTell. He's a bloody lunatic and believes he knows it all about McTell. How did McTell ever get stuck with such an idiot as this? I agree with you. The Irish are brilliant singers and put a great deal of heart into music. In my view, McTell does not.
Your a really good singer, and I wish you every success in life, but Clare to here is a song that sounds more soulful and emotional when sung by an irishman. I mean no disrespect and hope you can see where I'm coming from..it's just one of those songs that sounds so much better with an irish tinge on it.
Listen, I don't really care who you think sings this better, its not important, what matters is that you get your facts right. Ralph M'tell wrote this song. End of..
He is quiet, unassuming and humble. But his music has a reach that few performers can equal. Thanks Ralph, I don't know what you thought about that half-empty tent in the middle of no-where in Denmark but you made a lasting impression on me.
Many thanks Jakob. Most people who watch my Videos will recognise he was a real mentor and hero. He wrote all the songs I wanted to. !! and as you say quiet, unassuming and humble Also like most of us... 'confused' at times.. very human.
The one and only time I had a chance to hear Ralph Mctell in person was at the Langelands Festival in Denmark in 2004. And I'll never forget it. Even though the audience wanted a back-to-back version of "Streets of London" it was a memorable occasion. Ralph McTell is one of the best performers of our time.
Very nice cover. Thanks.
