  • You should see the firths Evangelion models that appear around the 90's, looks even awesome that this, from the rebuilt of the anime series; still are someones in the market, and if you painted with metallic finish... you're going crazy with your model... I have one, that was made it by a friend of mine, fully painted, wwooow I see it almost every night jajajaja C:

  • @hohenheim69 These are great models, I really love the Evangelion franchise. Are you looking forward to the new movie (Evangelion 3.0: You can (not) redo) later this year.

  • @tc012009 Oh yes!! since it appears a little advance at the end of 2.22 version of the second movie, the new Eva 06 piloted by Kaworu looks impressive!! I'm fan of this from the original animated series from the 90's with the two movies that put an end of this, and renew my love with this new movies... it changes a little bit the curse of the story, but the director was a genius C: ...oh I never read the Mangas... that are really rare to find this days.

  • Is the waist loose?

  • @OscaSchmidt Mine is fine but I've heard feedback from other people suggesting that it can be a problem. It is possible to tighten up the joints with a light coating of glue.

  • Is the waist lose?

  • u have to paint it?

  • @shocker258 No, this doesn't need to be painted, and will look great straight out of the box.

  • where to buy this in hk

  • is that any difference between evangelion 1.0 eva 01 test type and the evangelion 2.0 eva 01 test type?

  • Will it look decent without the paint? (Haha I've got the worst grip in the world with a brush)

  • @The1AndOnlySonic I usually paint my model but never bothered with this one, IMO it looks great straight out of the box and doesn't need painting. Let me know if you build the kit, I'd love to hear your opinion on it.

  • @tc012009 lol I barely have the money for this kit, but I'll assume I'll enjoy it :)

  • Does it rotate above the arm?

  • nice review. i also have only seen the 1st evangeliong film and loved it. i might get this kit. i havent seen the moovie in a while but isnt the pilot's cockpit in the entirey plug and then the get insirted into the neck and spine area ?

  • @mmf1396 Thanks, its a great kit, and lots of fun to build.

I've recently seen the entire Evangelion series and thought it was fantastic, I'm really looking forward to the second movie.

You are correct about the cockpit being in the entry plug, which is then inserted into the neck.

  • took me some hours to build it , but the end result. is nice .

  • @soniccdx I'm planning on getting Unit 2 in the few weeks. I pretty much loved everything about Unit 1, a really great model!!

  • @tc012009

    nice, i have unit 02 already but has not been built , now waiting for time ... hopefully they`ll realease a unit 03 , 05 , 06 and 08 .

  • Hey I have this one!

  • @FunFriendKid1 Whats your verdict on the kit, did you enjoy building it?

  • @tc012009

    Yea it was really fun!!!

  • i just bought this kit based on this review great vid i look forward to building it

  • @batmansgrandpa180 Enjoy building the kit, its awesome. Let me know what you think of the model when you have it build. I currently considering getting the Eva Unit 2 which was released in June.

  • @tc012009 i already own unit 02 its a great kit with alot of accesories and the waist joint isnt as weak as unit 01s i really enjoyed building unit 01 kit and its a really great kit cept for the weak waist joint good luck on unit 02s build cant wait to see wat u think of the kit

  • so this doesn't have a pilot price premium huh.. great review! good to see this one has less stickers than the much more expensive 02 kit

  • @dtzydtzy Thanks, I really enjoyed this kit a lot, it was my first Eva model and I really enjoyed building it. The new Eva Unit 2 is at the top of my model wishlist.

Looking forward to hearing your opinion of the original Eva 2 when you've finished building it.

  • I'd recommend you watch episodes 25 and 26; I much preferred them to EoE (Which I thought was nonsense).

NGE's very good at splitting opinions, huh?

  • @Grarrgle It great to see people passionate about an anime. I've just received the DVD's for episodes 1 to 14 so I'm aiming to watch then over the next week or so.

Episodes 25 and 26 really appear to raise strong opinions with fans of the series, I'm actually very curious to see them now :)

  • hehe, I'm doing it right now! I've already painted the inner frame n now I'm prepping the armor 4 airbrushing as I write this. I'm going 4 a nice glossy blood red. I think The O looks like a good kit, but I don't like the MS's design, so I'll pass on it. can't wait 4 RG rx-78, though, got it preordered!

  • @roccondil5 I'm really looking forward to the RG RX 78 and also have it pre-ordered. It it lives up to our expectations it could well be the best kit of 2010.

  • I also think it's a masterpiece! the ingenuity behind some of it's designs is fabulIous. I'm really taking my time with it (what?? 145 decals ???!!). I can't find any faults with it. I really hope bandai will come up with a MG kshatriya as I think there's no way to top this model otherwise.

  • @roccondil5 I'd love a MG Kshatriya but can you imagine the price. I've MG THE-O on pre-order in August and have high hopes for the model. Really pleased to hear you enjoyed the Sinanju, have you any plans to paint it?

  • AWESome, dude,u know that type have 3 version ,which is better the unit 1 the awakening version or this one?

  • @seed4212 I haven't tried the other two versions but they would have to be very good indeed to top this one, its a really great kit. Keep an eye on vegeta's channel over the next few weeks as I believe he going to be reviewing Unit 2 and also has a Awakening version on the way.

  • Great review, sir! Having been a fan -nigh obsessed- of Evangelion for a great many years, it's been difficult not to slurge on the model kits... I dunno what it is, but they just don't seem to capture that essence of the Evas, at least to me. I settled with collecting all the Revoltechs instead, so I'm pretty satisfied. :D

As for the final episodes/movies, they all serve a different purpose. The episodes show you the inside of Shinji's head, while the movies show the outside world.

  • @kawapen2 Would you believe I'm stilll pretty new to the whole Evangelion universe. Slowly catching up and really loving the anime. I recently got two of the revoltech eva figures and they are awesome, amazing articulation and accessories..

  • hey tc012009, great review. Ur getting better as u go! I've been 4 awhile but I'm back. I've just recently got MG strike freedom, wing zero custom n the fabulous sinanju! This kit looks good too. I love evangelion n the (not quite) mecha designs. so, keep up the good work!

  • @roccondil5 Thanks Sir, wow, you've got some really awesome MG's. I'd love to hear your opinion on the Sinanju (its a masterpiece).

  • Hey mate nice review, but I find it slowly needs something new and you should be more experimental ^^ envy you mine seems lost in SAL travel... I tend to differ on the view of eps. 25, 26 I found the ending of the movie end of evangelion more irratating than them, as far as I remember and its always better to judge with ya own eyes.

  • @Tigerr4Ruler Thanks Sir, unfortunately the structure of my review are somewhat curtailed by my current editing software but I'll see what I can do going forward. I want to try and keep the structure of my reviews as consistent as possible but I do appreciate the honest feedback.

Looking forward to hearing your opinion of the Eva, hopefully it will arrive soon. SAL is a real pain, particularly when items are being shipped from Japan, it usually takes between two to four weeks to Ireland.

  • Great review, Sir!

I think that your build experience with the Eva 01 is similar to my experience with the MG Figurerise Son Goku in that I found that kit's build to be very enjoyable.

  • @Guiltaur Thanks G, it was a really fun kit to build. After building this I'm actually really considering the Figurerise W Cyclone Joker, it look very impressive in the promotional pictures.

I'm currently playing around with my first Revoltech figure, the Eva 1 Awakening Version (I also got the Eva 5 last week). So far I'm really impressed by revoltech's build quality, accessories and articulation.

  • @tc012009 - If the MG Cyclone Joker continues with what MG Son Goku offered, it'll be a great model kit.

One thing to keep in mind with Revoltech figures is that there are various sub lines, each with their own unique attributes and various degrees of functionality as action figures. However, the quality control is consistently good in my experience and the proof is my 20 Revoltech figures, none of which show any QC issues. I can't say the same for other high end figures like S.H. Figuarts.

  • @Guiltaur Have you any experience with Max Factory kits? I've my eye on the upcoming Makinami Mari Illustrious New Plug Suit Ver figure thats due in October and was wondering if they were a recommended manufacturer.

The release of the RG RX78-2 is getting very close, I'm trying to keep my expectations at a reasonable level but the excitement is growing. Ngee Khiong had an image of the box on his blog a couple of days ago and it looks like its going to packed full of awesomeness !!

  • @tc012009 - Are you referring to the Figma action figure? If so, I don't have any experience with Max Factory's Figma line of figures but I will soon as I've pre-ordered Figma Saber Alter, which should be arriving in a few weeks.

It's only a few weeks until the RG RX-78-2 will be released and I'm counting down the days!

  • @Guiltaur Apologies for the confusion , it was the figma I referred to.

Figma Saber Alter looks amazing, I look forward to hearing you opinion on this figure.

Would you believe I also have a Saber figure on pre-order, I've gone for the super cute Nendoroid Saber which is due in Oct.

Have you seen the 1/7 Saber Excalibur statue, its a beautiful sculpt but a little out of my price range.

2+1/2 weeks to go for the RG release (or 17 sleeps !!) , fingers crossed it will be an awesome kit :)

  • @tc012009 - I'm quite interested in seeing what this Figma figure offers(I have Saber and Saber Alter in Revoltech form). The Figma incarnation looks like it has better proportions(looks more accurate to the line art and less like a toy approximation) but in the promotional photography, the figure is shown with a display stand...I wonder if it can stand be posed without the assistance of the stand.

I'm curious about the Nendoroid Saber as it's supposed to be a step up in the articulation...

  • ...department compared to previous Nendoroid products.

I"ve seen the 1/7 statue and it looks good but I'm not much of a statue/static figure collector so I'm content with admiring photos of the statue.

I'm thinking there'll be a bit of activity in the global gunpla community when the RG gets released. I'm keeping an eye out for early reviews of the kit.

  • "I've removed its umbilical cord"

It only has 5 minutes of functioning time left! D:

Looks like a great kit though. Gotta love the colour accuracy to the rebuild. Glad to hear it was fun to build, that's the most important thing about any kit.^ ^ I found the anime to be good, but beware the ending. Eva has never really had a good ending. Yet. Hopefully the rebuilds will end well.... hopefully.

  • @okamishade LOL, that why Eva is in a kneeling pose at the end of the review, he ran out of steam towards the end of the review :P

I really enjoyed this kit, I'm actually considering trying the MG Kamen Rider W Cyclone Joker when its released.

A few people have commented that episode's 25 and 26 of Evangelion are to be avoided, sounds like the ending is a let down, I've order the platinum DVD sets of the series and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this awesome anime.

  • @tc012009 On the whole it's good. But the original ending was so bad, the creator got death threats.... You could skip 25 and 26 and watch "End of Eva" and "Death and Rebirth". The subtle religious undertones are a bit more pronounced though.

Regards the MG Kamen Rider W, never saw the show, but I want to pick up the kit. It looks snazzy. I'd love if it was the fang joker design though, I think that's my favourite.

  • @okamishade I had very little exposure to Kamen Rider but Guiltaur's and versusz's enthusiasm for the show is infectious!!

I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai release a Fang Joker in the next year.

I love to see a Kamen Rider Kiva - Emperor form released at some stage, it would be a fantastic looking model

  • That is a nice figure. Cool umbillical cord.

  • @ziljin Thanks, it was one of the most enjoyable models I've build in ages.

  • Great review! So the knees on the 2.0 movie kits have less articulation? Because I the 1.0 and it can go 180. Also are the arm joints the same and does the waist still have a weak connection? And like you said, these are great kits, very fun and they look great out of the box! I have unit 01 awakening version kit and revoltech in my closet and my unit 02 should be sent out soon!

  • @GundamGuns Thanks Sir, Unfortunately I haven't any experience with the 1.0 but I can confirm that the I encountered no major problems with the waist connectors, so hopefully the looseness isn't an issue with the 2.0.

Looking forward to seeing more of your Awakening version, it looks like a fantastic model. I'm very tempted to either get the model kit of Unit 2 or the revoltech "beast" version, which do you think I should get?

  • @tc012009 I got a review of Revotech "The Beast" on my channel if you want to see and it is a FANTASTIC figure, I love it! Haven't received my unit 02 yet but, i would tell you to get both of them cause they are great!

  • Hey, Can The Mouth Open Of The Eva Unit 01? Anyways, Nice Review.

  • @strikefreedom2500 Yes it can, apologies for missing that during the review, I'll add an annotation to the clip.

  • @tc012009

Alright. Anyways, Would You Highly Recommend The Model Kit Of The Eva Unit 01?

  • @strikefreedom2500 I loved the model and would highly recommend it. Vegeta8259 will be reviewing the Unit 2 very soon so it will be interesting to hear his take on the model (which uses most of the components from Unit 1).

  • you must have the Eva-01 Type F AFC Experiment as a kit is nice to build and is cheap

  • @jbelux I'll check out that model.

  • Awesome revivew TC! It looks like a great figure but I'm gonna have to skip the EVA series. Too many other kits from other series already. XD (and EVAs actually scare me. lol)

  • @Gomenchaiii Thanks Kibo, I really liked the model and hope my fondness for it came across in the review.

I got this kit completely at random few weeks ago and was really glad I did. I'm currently going through an Evangelion phase and have ordered the Anime online (lol, can you believe I've never seen it before) and hope to be up to speed with the series by the end of the summer (although I have seen Evangelion 1.11).

lol, what is it about the Eva's that scare you?

  • @tc012009 it's the thought that they are living beings and not fully mecha. lol...it's like they have a "brain" though as primitive as it is, they can go crazy and as if they can feel pain, but yet they are used as "machines" and for fighting. o_O It's like a monster. lol. oh BTW, take vegeta's advice and DO NOT WATCH episodes 25 and 26...that made me mad. lol.

  • @Gomenchaiii I will follow the advice and avoid eps 25 and 26 (they really must be bad O_o). I'm really looking forward to seeing the full anime series because the Movie left me with so many unanswered questions.

I'm still sanding and preping my next MG project ;), the weather isn't great in Ireland today but if I can get everything ready for painting today I'll be on track with the build.

  • @tc012009 a word of advice if your looking to get those questions of your answered you might be in for a bit of a disappointment. one of the main reasons for the new movies is because of all the things from the tv show that got left open for your own interpretation as to what is going on. The show might leave you even more confused then you already are...lol but thats what i liked about it.

Great review, i really like the look of the new EVA kits but im still more for the figures then the Kits

  • @vektar I'm aiming to review the Revoltech Eva 01 Awakening Edition soon, just need to play around with the figure a bit.

I'm looking forward to seeing the anime and learning more about the angels origins and the second impact. Also looking forward to seeing Evangelion 2.0 and watching the EVA 02 in action.

  • @Gomenchaiii

lol the evas don't scare me unless your talking about EVA unit one when it goes berserker.... now thats scary

  • good Review

  • @jbelux Thanks

  • just bought the Awakening version after getting Unit 02! Now all I need is a Unit 0

  • @vegeta8259 I'm really looking forward to seeing your Unit 2 review, I'm very tempted to get it as I really enjoyed building Unit 1.

The Awakening version is a great looking model, I got the revoltech version during the week and love its design.

BTW, have you encountered the Sachiel model that was released by Bandai several years ago, I saw on one ebay last week and I'm considering getting it.

  • @tc012009, the LMHG Sachiel kit is really hard to come by... if you find it for a good price, get it!

  • Nice review, I really like the look of the model. Was it difficult to build?

  • @NineballBreaker It was pretty easy , if you've any experience with HG kits you should find this pretty straightforward to build.

  • Great review, but you need to play around with those Revoltechs to see a really well articulated figure!

Also you should think about picking up a Figurerise Son Goku kit if you're looking for something that isn't a mech but still really cool!

  • @Wizartar Thanks Sir, I got the Eva 01 Awakening Ver and Eva 05 New movie version during the week but I haven't had a lot of time to test them out.

I watched your awesome revoltech reviews before I ordered them and so far they have lived up to my expectations. Surprisingly, there were no assemble borgs included in the packs (they must be limited editions).

Got my eye on EVA-02 "The Beast" at the moment, I've a feeling that these revoltechs are addictive!

  • @tc012009 yeah, those borgs were limited to the first release of the Eva figures.

Just got the Beast last Thursday, it's a really nice figure, not as articulated as normal Revoltechs, because of it's design, but the effect parts make up anything that's lacking. It's also a little bigger then normal for an Eva. Revoltechs are awesome!
