@mattliebl6199 I'm quite please with mine. The K4 captures a good range of synth sound, has a good sounding overdrive circuit, works well as a monitor, and can be used as both DI and a mixer of sorts.
I like the way things sound amped, though I can't say I've found good technique for close mic-ing the traynor yet as it's got speakers for lows and the highs and mids are in stereo.
@mattliebl6199 It's hard to say. I'm sure it has the same quality of sound, but aside from less watts the K1 also has far fewer of the features that made the K4 attractive for me.
Are you planning on gigging? If I was only going for studio use, I might consider an investment in a set of studio monitors instead.
Having said that, I looked at the Traynor website, and the option to link 2 K1s for stereo would be pretty great.
@flowerpower111 That includes the Little Phatty stage 2 version, yes. If you look into analog synthesizers a little bit, you'll discover that polyphony is the exception. Nearly all synthesizers are monophonic.
That's the interesting things about this video, there are two voices - two notes sounding at the same time.
I guess the Memorymoog did come near the end. Moog himself seemed to suggest that the polysynth was a nail in the company's coffin, but it is interesting to think of it being their hesitance to put it out sooner, as you suggest, that killed Moog.
What I would like is a Little Phatty equivalent to the DSI Tetr4, a collection off 4 LP voices controlled by midi from the Little Phatty. I wonder what it would cost Moog to do that?
My thoughts exactly. In the Moog forums we've been talking about this forever. Some seem to think it'd be way too expensive for moog to consider doing... does'nt make sense to me when you consider they are selling 5k$ guitars.
I see your thinking anoteoftruth, but it seems to me that the guitar and synth markets are very different beasts. Even with the sort of synth renaissance we're experiencing do you think there is one synthete for every 10, 20, 50 guitarist?
Moog need only make the smallest dent in that marktet to see a return on a guitar. OK, at 3 to 5 G maybe not the smallest dent, but I think the logic is sound.
Oh don't get me wrong, I think the Moog guitar is great, and surely people will and do buy them. Sure there are guitarists a dime a dozen..... not a dime a dozen who can afford a 5k$ guitar, but your point is sound that guitarists are everywhere. They will make a return, but so far they had success with all of their synth products... with the amount of people waiting for a Moog polysynth, I highly doubt it won't be succesful.
The last thing that I did that was major was the Theremin Video contest. We had a tree fall through our house and I relocated and half my equipment is here and half there.
Truth be told, Im waiting to do a video of my own on Moog duophony when I receive the Taurus Pedals. This time Next week, Ill be leaving for North Carolina and Ill get to visit the factory!
Well it ain't no being green, as the frog says, but i hear you.
A tree!? I hope everyone got out without damage to life, limb, or synth.
I can't wait to see what you do with a Voyager and a Taurus.
Be sure to post on the Moog forum about your trip to the factory. Being from central Canada, I don't know that I'll ever get to go, though you've just given me a great idea for a trip. Maybe if I ever save up for a Moog guitar I could go pick it up direct.
I might do that. I don't have an electric guitar but it woudl depend on the normal functions of the guitar and the clean tone sound that would be the determining factor or me choosing it over another 3K guitar. I just want a guitar to play funk riffs on it anyway lolol. Id rather spend that kind of money on synth modules.
This is beautiful. Have you tried playing Medieval/Renaissance music using these sounds? If you got together with people who play early music, it would be stunning!
I know how you feel, fizmo. I nearly sold my LP to by the Voyager OS, but came across a RME used, luckily.
Hey Skylerstupid, since you have the same setup, have you been able to figure out how to stop the Phatty from sending MIDI CCs for cutoff and resesonance?
I want to try to knob twist the Phatty without altering the RME settings.
What do you think about the traynor amps?

@oversee well i dont think i need that many watts so would the K1 be just as decent?

can moogs only play one note at a time? ive heard that before
flowerpower111 1 year ago
@flowerpower111 The Voyager and the Little Phatty are both monophonic. Monophonic means one note at a time.

@oversee ooh cool! you should make an improvisation on poly then!

Very cool.

Why doesn't Moog make a proper polysynth? I think their reluctance to do so is what killed them the first time 'round.

In any case, if they think they can do it in Moog style and that we'll buy it, it seems Moog will build it.

It's funny too, 'cause it seems I'm not the only one with this setup. Is polyphony over rated?
When I get a new memory card for my camera, maybe then I can do longer vids.
Have you done any new bits, Eric?
