Thank you so much for posting this. I saw Carrie three times and Bway and LOVED it! Granted, the Greek tragedy meets the Kids from Fame approach was bizarre but it is the story of a girl with telekinetic powers - so weird seems okay to me. I thnk the staging/chorepgraphy is incredible. Rock on Debbie Allen. I can watch this over and over and over. And probably will.
The more I hear these songs the more I really like them, even when the singer(s) are singing of-key for most of the song. :)
It's a shame that this play was so badly received it would have probably done quite well today. I really want to be in a performance of this musical or see it somewhere. I think most of the songs may not be wonderful, but they're catchy and fun and the duets between Carrie and her mother are captivating.
I'm sure that, with a little polishing this musical could be a gem.
@kuraarachan i know, right? i'd love to see the revival of Carrie, but I don't have money for a ticket...would you like the sheet music for this song? i have it if you want.
The dancing is technically accomplished, song is OK, but the choreography, costumes, sets and lighting all wrong for the story. Doesn't matter how good a performance or staging element is if it doesn't serve the story. These are high school kids. That's the traged: Kids don't see the consequences of what they do. Ifthe costumes were an attempt to make the characters archetypes, they don't. Incomplete transition at the end makes it look like Carrie's in the nightspot, which she'd never be.
Okay, the dancing looks neat, the dancers obviously rehearsed well, they are having fun.
But it does not fit whatsoever! I'm sorry, I'm supposed to be paying attention to the pathos of Sues's guilt, but I'm just staring at the dancing Tommy.
Oh Debbie Allen and her choreography. I love dance musicals but I agree--why are these kids even dancing (or wearing those clothes?) If this song was meant to be secretly sung while they were rehearsing some convulated dance routine, maybe, but isn't this just meant to be in the school yard lol
why is there so much dancing? i fweel so sorry for them.
but why us there so much dancing if its that dark. I cant see what the crowd is doing behind them.... this is a GOOD song just good awful backup music (the rehearsal music with the piano and drum is better) and dancing that is so bad that there isnt even a word that can describe it!
I adore Sally Ann Triplett, her voice is amazing! But Billy doing a funky little jig in the background is really distracting...

There used to be awesome rehearsal footage of this number on here--Mondo or anyone else, do you have it?

I disagree, I think the dancing in this song is AWESOME! I just think the lights should be on and there should be scenery in the background.

Don't get me wrong I love the dancing but I get why it just made the weird "greek tragedy on mars" take of this production all the weirderlol
