  • Your response here is to Thunderfoot. He is an atheist and he he is quite anti-Christian as well, so pointing out fundamentalist CHristian groups like Westboro Baptist isn't going to sway him I'm afraid.

  • @DarthOvious I think you missed the point of the video.

  • @IncentiveBeats

I know he wants to show that most groups have their extremeists, but I was just pointing out that using Christian examples isn't the best way to highlight this to Thunderfoot. He isn't exactly Christian tollerant either.

  • @DarthOvious Isn't that the point of the video? Pointing out Thunderfoot's intolerance?

  • @IncentiveBeats

He was using the Christian examples to try and show that Islam isn't the only religion with extremists, but using Christian examples isn't going to work because Thunderfoot hates Christianity as well. Thunderfoot will be watching this and he'll just say "So what? Christian are dangerous as well".

It's like trying to explain to a Dundee Utd supporter that Glasgow Rangers fans aren't all that bad cause Glasgow Celtic fans do stupid things as well. They won't give a damn.

  • @IncentiveBeats

He was using the Christian examples to try and show that Islam isn't the only religion with extremists. This isn't going to work since Thunderfoot doesn't like Christianity either. His response to this video would be "So what? Christians are dangerous as well". He is a totally unreasonable guy. Better to go through all the Atheist states instead, like Stalin's Russia.

  • You forgot to mention Timothy McVeigh :-)

Thanks for the info on Tawfik Hamid.

  • wagzetsu, we aren't assuming that all Muslims are violent funamentalists, just the ones that actually are! Anytime a person doesn't say "some" you flip out and claim that they meant all. If not all, why any and why care about the opinions of Thunderfoot if he did mean all? We do see that if some are brain washed by religion, alot others can be aswell. To still be a believer in something that is used to brain wash people is irrational to me.

  • This is an excellet video. Thank you for making it.

  • By that definition of radical Islam that the speaker gave, (which I agree with) shows that radical Islam controls entire countries, including most of the Middle East and northern Africa. The laws of these countries fail the ABC test. Radical Islam has an empire.

And your going to compare that to one family of nuts jobs who have never done anything violent, and a couple of fringe goups who's violent acts are few and far between?

  • @fortyone0 Ignore my original replies. I was tired and misunderstood you. The point is to show that radicalism and moderates exist within any faith. That's why I showed images of Michael Moore/MLK Jr after Westboro/HUTAREE. BTW, there are plenty of more groups like HUTAREE ready to fight the anti-christ, so to speak. I come from a radical Christian background, know (or rather, used to) former Green Berets that are now in Christian militias, waiting to fight the "Communists" or "Anti-Christ."

  • Thunderf00t has been critical of all religions.

  • @pezyguy Yes, indeed he has. The point is that his recent videos seem to blur the difference between fundamental and moderate, by referring to "THE Muslims" in his argument. He has triggered quite a crazy amount of open hate on his channel, and instead of openly addressing the accusations against him, he stays silent. He generalized a group of people. He should know better, given that he is an academic and all.

  • I can see where you are coming from, and you provide many excellent examples of both Christian radicalism and moderate Islam, but I feel as though you are misinterpreting Thunderf00t's message. Tf00t is merely one of many who are calling for a non-violent protest in the defense of free speech from dogmatic Muslims. While it is true that many Muslims won't want to kill someone over a cartoon of Muhammed, it is still very likely that they would be offended by it.

  • This is also very true of any criticism of Jesus or Christianity. Many Christians become enraged at perceived blasphemies against their own savior in the same way Muslims do with theirs. The point of Tf00t's protest is to show Muslims, and religious people for that matter, that here in America, we have the right to say whatever we want about anything and we will not be held back by anyone's religious dogma.

  • @Daigo787 I don't think the outcry against Thunderf00t is that he supports free speech. It's the accusations that he endorses genocidal actions against an entire group of people. Like I said, I really don't believe he thinks this, but it is harder to convince myself when he has yet to make a direct response to the accusations. As he has an influence, he has a duty here on YT to try and do something about the crazy comments on his videos and page, which are enabled by his new videos.

  • @Daigo787 At first, I really thought that Thunderf00t had just misrepresented himself, a poor choice of words, perhaps... But, as he continues to not address the issue of the accusations against him (i.e. claims he supports genocide, bigotry), it makes it harder to make excuses for him. I'm also very concerned about some of the comments being made by his subscribers. I realize he can't control what people think, but he definitely has an acknowledged influence on YT.

  • @Daigo787 I just want him to say something like, "When I said THE Muslims, I didn't really mean all of them. Poor choice of words. I also don't support genocide, but rather was making a response to what I see as a threat to our way of life. In no way does this mean I endorse the destruction of the Middle East." Do you know what I mean?

  • This protest is not generally aimed at Islam, but only those who take their religion so seriously that they feel that they are entitled to murder and terrorize anybody who disagrees with it.

  • @Daigo787 Then he should make that distinction. In his last video, he referred to "religion" a few times, but still had the main focus on Islam. I don't think many of his viewers are making the distinction that you are, and that's the problem.

  • Excellent video, wagzetsu.

Especially since it gives criteria for distinction.

    Great work.

  • @Cimbolic Thank you. I'm not really a video producer or anything, but I really felt like I needed to say something to possibly try and make a few people do a quick self-evaluation check. Everyone needs to calm down return to their regular logical and rational-thinking selves.

  • @wagzetsu

It's good work, wagzetsu. Thanks for apeaking out.
