Russia recognized the independence of the breakaway territories of South Ossetia and Abhkazia because they won the war. Someone must have sent Russian troops to Georgia. I don't know the Russians motives behind invading Georgia but now both South Ossetia and Abhkazia have been granted independence.
During communisn Stalin (who isnt Russias #1 hero you fucking idiot) made South Ossetia part of Georgia and left North Ossetia be part of Russia (so that Moscow didnt have to run that region because we have enough land to run without Ossetia, and it would be ruled by Georgia is way smaller than Russia). Now, 50 years later, South Ossetians want to live with North Ossetians and not with Georgians (because they treat them like shit), for that they want to be independat from Georgia.
Ossetia as a whole was an independant country just like Georgia and Russia. Ossetia became a Russian vassal and few years later even joined Russia, because it was hard for them to survive on their own. Georgia became part of Russia more than 150 years later when the Georgian King Gregory begged our Tsar Alexander I to save the Georgians from the Osman Empire (Turkish). And therefore Georgia also became part of Russia out of their own will.

The peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia live on their lands. Now the regions are becoming independent states. New maps are being drawn up and the Republic of Georgia will have to learn to peacefully coexist with their new neighbors.
Only those who are pro-Russia think that NATO is of no use. It serves as an alternative to the UN, where China and Russia has veto power (both of which have no problem selling nuclear material to Iran and other non-friendly states. If Russia was serious about supporting the UN, then it would dissolve the CIS and the SCO.

Ossetia became a Russian vassal and few years later even joined Russia, because it was hard for them to survive on their own. Georgia became part of Russia more than 150 years later when the Georgian King Gregory begged our Tsar Alexander I to save the Georgians from the Osman Empire (Turkish). And therefore Georgia also became part of Russia out of their own will.

The South Ossetians opened up 120mm guns on the Georgian two days before the official start of the war. Georgian needed to block the Roki tunnels to prevent the Russians from coming in. They failed. Basically, the Russians should say thank you to the Americans,I think. The war in Iraq has caused energy prices to skyrocket and this is the only reason why Russia is stronger and richer than ever before in its history. And about South Ossetia etc.,I think there was some sort of deal between Russia and the West.

I didn't pay much attention to this albums lyrics before this crysis (because I wasn't much interested in US politics, 'cause I thought that 'That's their problems, why should I care?' or something. But now I see that all the dirty US politics are made up to harm our people, and not only our). And now I see that those Megadeth lyrics describe the situation over US government very well ("Amerikhastan"). Many people really should listen to other people's opinions, just not to be like donkeys =/

Also US don't want to give visa for representatives of S.Ossetia and Abkhazia,who want to take part in UN meeting (in New York, as usual).
Also US gave 1 billion $ to military restoration of Georgia! To again kill Ossetians.

The same what? Russia is interested in high prices for oil. China, USA, EU are interested in low prices for oil. And remember - Russia didn't destroy pipeline on Georgian land while could do it easy to raise oil price - "mistakes occures sometimes". For example, US dropped the bomb somewhere in Afganistan and killed 90 civilians by mistake recently.
So, oil is important - no doubt. But if you think Russia invaded Georgia to control the pipeline or raise oil prices - think again.

Only those who are pro-Russia think that NATO is of no use. It serves as an alternative to the UN, where China and Russia has veto power (both of which have no problem selling nuclear material to Iran and other non-friendly states. And the problem with Russia is that it sees itself as needing a multi-polar environment, but discounts NATO due to emotions over the Soviet Union's collapse. If Russia was serious about supporting the UN, then it would dissolve the CIS and the SCO.

NATO is of no more use since the end of the Cold War. Just as the Warsaw Pact is of no more use. The best policy is that of non-intervention. Letting people like George Soros go around Eastern Europe fomenting color revolutions is not good American policy. We should arrest Mr Soros for creating an unstable international environment leading to senseless conflicts as he has no business forcing us into difficult decisions as described in this video.
