A positive leak is much more comforting then the negative leak SWTOR got. There is also a possiblity that the guy isn't being fired and ArenaNet wanted to feed some viral info for the purpose of advertising. Or maybe he is being fired because his contract for development has finished. Either way, positive leak = worth spending money on. If the developers are happy about their game, not just the guys who spout PR crap for the perpose of selling is always a positive sign.

@ChaosExodus well, they have 3 months, mate :) If manufacturing and distribution of physical copies takes a month, then they have 2. I think I read somewhere that the closed beta is now complete and Anet is happy with the results. So, 2 months for open betas, which at the same time will be their stress-tests, as I expect no less than 1mil players to join for their beta weekends. It is doable, mate, and I've already put money on that date, so yeah :D Besides, 28/4 is almost May :P

@ChaosExodus .... and if you think of it, they won't lose time with marketing, pre-reviews and stuff like that. The game is already PR-ed beyond belief and even people, who have nothing to do with the genre are willing to check it out :) And, if you think of it, Anet hadn't put much effort in this hype - the community is so loyal and the game is so brilliant, this baby sells itself :) Times are changing, rearanging, this game will swallow all our lives :D

@draganov I've played GW for 10 months now, and I know for a fact it will not release on 28th April, 2012...

There was a post by an ArenaNet developer last year (few months ago by now) that they WILL NOT release the game on the anniversary of the original Guild Wars. And that date, 24th April, has no influence whatsoever on the expected release date or plans for release in the future.

@SirMirex7 well, I play GW1 for almost 7 years now, but I don't see how this is relevant. All I am saying is that if they are ready with the game before the Anniversary, chances are they will release it at anniversary. If the game is not ready, they will release it when it's ready. Happy?

@draganov Playing game X for X period of time has nothing to do with how well you know a game (or its release date), let alone the company itself. I follow GW2 DAILY, hell even HOURLY.

ArenaNet have stated they will not release on the anniversary of the original Guild Wars. This clearly states they have NO plans to release or finish beta testing and release before April. And following the news, the earliest we will see a release date is between May and October. Guaranteed.

Was quite optimistic until she said 2 months. I only discovered this game last month and i've been dying to play it. I feel sorry for those who's been waiting since it was first announced.

A release in 2 - 3 months being a bit optimistic, especially when ArenaNet is likely planning on demo'ing at PAX East again. Maybe we'll hear news on a release or Open Beta during PAX East but I expect the game to release in May, at the earliest.
